I want us to be what we used to be! I want .. I want it all back, the way that it was
It was amazing, and I miss it too, but it isn't coming back.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTL_COGyRCIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdEJjuT6P00Playing on private servers is still fun and all, but nothing will compare to the Dreamcast years.
Thanks for reminding me of it. I don't know if I should go cry alone or with you guys
I tried Ephinea and was quite bored. I expected to like it after all the praise. What a letdown.
>>12865645Did you play in a group or alone?
I still play on Ephinea. I don't know why so many people on /vr/ hate on Ephinea, it's nice to finally play a version of PSO with a functioning player economy not fucked up with countless dupes.
>>12865980>I don't know why so many people on /vr/ hate on EphineaBecause it's the most popular way to play PSO online these days
>>12865550Same, given all the BS I deal with now, I desire a return to a perfect moment in time.
>>12869460Poor MarblefagIf only you could afford a phone
>>12865980>>12865645I'll sometimes get on Ephinea when I feel the itch. I've yet to really be able to sit down like I used to but that's more on me.
>>12869460What came in that big box on the right? Aside from the game itself obviously.>>12869958One of the things I like about PSO is that it doesn't have to be a big commitment like with "real" MMOs. Just hop in when you feel like it and have a bit of time. There's no FOMO to make the game feel like an obligation.
>MMO players pining over 'what was lost' when MMO players are the ones who helped usher in the era of GaaS, no public/free server software, focus on multiplayer over single-player, and hamster-wheel gameplayAbout as bad as seeing Steam fags talking about how the early days of Steam were the best and things have gone downhill since then. You folks encouraged the modern era of gaming by happily giving away rights and privileges gamers enjoyed for two decades just so you could play with other people on the internet. Enjoy your shambling zombie of the game you remembered, it's what you deserve.
>>12865550>makes singleplayer action jrpg with online coop>fuck it up 20 years later with ngs
>>12869568I'm still on an old one, and the limitations are pretty severe. I'm not yet prepared to take on the buy now pay later price yet, still trying to save something, but fuel prices spiked badly lately and eats into everything.>>12870063That one has a modem, not the broadband adapter, and the original release. The trilogy bundle has the later Plus release.
>>12865645PSO was a moment in time. By modern online gaming standards it's archaic, but 25 years ago it was mindblowing to be playing something like that on a console. The magic had faded a little even by the time the GameCube version came out, but I still played a ton of that. I've never had the urge to go back to it on PC though. I have my memories and that's all I need.
>>12870445Have you ever played PSO, or even seen it's gameplay? I get where you're coming from and agree with the premise of what you're saying, but you're pointing your ire at the wrong game. People call PSO an MMO because it has RPG elements and online multiplayer, but it played nothing like Everquest, runescape, etc. It could be played completely offline, and the gamecube and xbox versions even had split-screen local multiplayer. Would you consider the 5th gen Gauntlet games to be MMOs if they had online multiplayer, and blame them for the problems you describe as well?>>12870909> singleplayer action jrpg with online coopSee, now this guy's actually played the game.
>>12871570That's pretty cool. I didn't know that japan got the modem and the PSO Ep1&2 as a bundle, and also got Ep1&2 Plus and Ep3 as a bundle. I had to buy my Gamecube broadband adapter seperately, and considered myself lucky to find one.
