Phone games were a scam, occasionally they'd be alright, but overall they were a scam where you paid out the ass for a shockwave browser game tier experience. You were better off bringing your gameboy with you, there wasn't much reason for this besides "Oops, forgot my gameboy, but I have my cell, hehe".Still a shame a lot are lost though.
I remember my first mobile game back in the mid 2000s was a port of Rayman. The only one I ever really got into was a Diablo clone, I forget what it was called. Thought it was Fate but I can't find any evidence it was ever ported to mobile so maybe it was something else. I miss early phone games since they weren't infested with ads yet.

I didn't get a smart phone until 2020 and before that only had a tracfone for a few years, so i have zero nostalgia for phone games besides a friend showing me a shitty metal slug port on his flip phone once. There are a few that i am curious about, like all the metal slug stuff and i seem to recall magazine ads for sidescroller Ratchet & Clank and God of War for flip phones.

Phone company wanted to rip out the old land line to replace it and i didn't want them coming inside my house to do it, so i just stuck with my tracfone, but then it started getting spotty reception where i had to leave my house to make or receive a call and my mother got tired of dealing with that shit when trying to contact me and got me a samsung phone, which is still same one im using now and will keep using until its completely unusable. I do miss how on my tracfone my computer monitor would begin buzzing before my phone actually received the call, so i would no beforehand when someone was about to call me.
