I recently bought Ninja Jajamaru-Kun Collection + Hell.I know there's not going to be discussion about the new game, but I thought a thread about the Jajamaru-kun series. The first game and this spinoff that started the series were games I played alot as a kid on those 100-in-1 cartridges and later on as a teen I was bummed to see that it was a whole series that never got translated.Whatever happened to the original game? Why didn't that get sequals? So far I have only been playing the first game on the collection trying to reach level 20. So far the best I've been able to do is 16.
The Wonderswan remake is great
>>12869995It's too Japanese. Jaleco struggled with this series in the west, like Konami did with Goemon. Onigiri Ninpouchou Gold for the Saturn is full of sovl, haven't tried the other games yet. Do you recommend this collection?
>>12870032>Do you recommend this collection?I very much enjoyed it. It has 6 classics games and the new game is also tremendous fun. Can't think of anything bad to say, since I payed 12€ for it for a new copy.>>12870009I will check that out.
I finally managed to "beat" Ninja Jajamaru-kun. Got to stage 22 and from there on it just loops. One weird thing that happened, was when I jumped up to the top floor, the princes gave a shitton of points and 1 up. No idea why that happened and was never able to recreate. There's also very little info on the game. Now onto Jajamarus Big Adventure
>>12870032Goemon had actual fans in the west though because they're good games and kind of funny. They just never brought over most of the games. Most of the games are fan translated now though.
>>12869995Did you skip the Ninja-Kun games?Ninja-Kun II / Ashura no Sho is a really fascinating, tough-as-nails platformer with very short stages and quite striking, sort of minimalist aesthetics.
Why did they make the secret bonus in this game so absurdly high? If you throw an amount of shurikens equal to or less than the amount of enemies in a stage without dying, you get 10,000 points. Nothing in this game even comes close to giving you that much.
>>12872973In a sense I skipped them since they are not part of this collection, but the og is one that I have played a ton on those 100-in-1 cartridges.I will hunt them down eventually.>>12873543I had the weirdest one where I believe it was the first Headbone stage, I climbed to the top floor and as I jumped towards the princess, I got a 1 up and an absurd amount of points, was it like 250k or something.I did get it on video since it was on PS5.
>>12869995I also got the collection because I had this exact game in my multicart too. I also had 2? games that aren't in this collection in the multicart but I believe they're actually other licensed arcade games with Jajamaru put in them or something? Ah, these ones I think >>12872973The new game is great and they're also making a new one that looks like a musou-like with 2D sprites in a 3D environmentOtherwise the collection was great value, with including the new game AND translating everything. A rare modern collection that's actually kind of worth itIt's crazy the Snes game never released here (there were plans I believe?) as it's crazy good>>12870681I came across some random Japanese video where I've seen it. On a very specific stage I think if you bump the upper right wall it gives you a shitloads of points. Probably widely known in Japan
>>12877487>I also had 2? games that aren't in this collection in the multicart but I believe they're actually other licensed arcade games with Jajamaru put in them or something? As far as I understood it, UPL made a game called Ninja-kun: Majou no Bouken. Jaleco ported that to the Famicom and UPL decided that they wanted to make games on their own.Jaleco didn't want to lose the things they've made, so they made a spin-off called Ninja Jajamaru-kun which spun in to its own series.Later on UPL made a sequal to their original game on the Famicom.
>>12870681>>12877487>it's realCan't believe I'm still learning new stuff about Famicom games in 2026https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdHBiSSxs-A
