Does anyone here collect NES games? I was inspired by this guy on reddit who has the full collection. It's very tempting to attempt to do the same, but as a zoomer I have no idea what I'm doing.
>>12874994autism general?
>all of those can fit on a 5 MB thumbdrive.. Imagine being this mentally ill.
>>12874994>as a zoomerbro if you dont already have like 100 carts and didnt grow up with this shit why do you wanna do this now? for internet points?
>>12874994it's a rich persons hobby now
>>12875015>getting mad over something no one saidyes imagine being this mentally ill indeed
Why collect a bunch of games you don't even care about?
>>128750155 mb thumbdrives don't exist anymore grandpa
>>12874994No. I got a handful of CIBs of some of my favorites, and my brother has probably around 150 loose carts/CIBs.
>one house fire takes away a lifetime of collecting.Just invest in the stock market.
>>12874994>I was inspired by this guy on reddit who has the full collection>my-near-complete-nes-collection-before-i-sold-it-last-yearHe escaped his mental illness. You should be inspired by that part, not the collecting thousands of dollars worth of decaying plastic in the first place bit.
>>12875191He wil lreget it that shit will be worth a millie
>>12875196Loose carts will never be worth anything major because autismo collectors want everything CIB and they're the ones who prop up the high end of the market.
I had a lot of NES games in 1998 but even back then they sucked to play because of issues with the console and cartridges. There's no point in collecting junk.
>>12875015It's not to play, it's to have on a shelf and look pretty.
>>12874994It's a stupid idea. Get a real hobby.
>>12875203They will probably make a repro NES that will play them properly.
>>12874994I have a fairly large collection of NES games that I collected in the 90s and 00s but I don't actively collect anymore. I sold off a few of my games once they became worth 4 figures, but otherwise I still have most of what I collected from back then. I stopped because I managed to get every game I could possibly want to play. I never had any desire to own every single game, there's too much crud on the system. It's a great feeling when looking at a shelf with classic games like Mega Man, Rygar, Blaster Master, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, and Bionic Commando. But the feeling wears off when your eyes are scanning junk games like Magmax, X-Men, Major League Baseball, or Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf. Those should be sold off or stored somewhere out of sight.
complete collections = hoarding mountains of garbage.focus on buying only the games you actually like, emulate first to make sure
>>12875231Do you get them loose or CIB. The loose carts look is what looks cozy to me. CIB the problem is they are all beat up.
>>12875140you never bought a 2tb thumb drive from a chinese 3rd party seller on amazon
>>12875239I have a combination of both. I have very nice condition CIB games for most of the major classics as well as my childhood favorites. For the decent games I don't have the boxes for I just store them alphabetically on lower shelves. For games I will never play again I either trade/sell them or keep them in a box in my basement.
>>12875172>one AI bubble takes away a lifetime of investing
Bro has you defeated not just complete but CIB:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44p9D8DFXUA
>>12875196a mil? Fuck no. NES peaked already. This shit is the same nostalgia cycle everything else goes through. Yeah, NES won't fully crash until Gen X literally dies (like model trains), but it's over for that gen. Prices will be steady and slowly slide down for the years to come, but still far more expensive than they have any right to be. The nostalgia cycle already chewed up and spat out the NES, SNES, we're deep into N64,and the dirty nostalgia fingers are already running through PS2 and GameCube. Maybe halfway through them. It's the 20-year cycle. Games aren't special.
>>12875360I just think the loose carts look comfier lined up on the shelf. I don't see the point of having them in boxes.
>>12875389CIB = the actual videogame. Cuck carts are for poorfags
>>12874994>wall of shit you'll never play>costs hundreds of thousands of dollars Why do you want that?
>>12875392Its just cardboard
>>12875398It's just plastic.What's your point?
>>12874994Bait used to be believable
>>12875239NES carts look kino af with their spine labels and pull tab recesses
CIB is about 10 x more expensive
>>12875015>willful ignorance of what a collection isImagine being this mentally ill.
>>12875172Just enjoy nothing and own nothing with that mentality.
>>12875392I didn't know i could insert my box into the system to play it.
I just broke under 100 games left for the US library. That was just from casual collecting since i was a kid. Probably won't heavily pursue the remainder until i hit below 50 left. It's really not that expensive at all to collect for, but then again im not retarded and know what im doing and have made friends with other retro gamers and collectors over the years. If i go to a convention, i may splurge on one 100+ game(usually better titles). It's also a personal collection because I really enjoy the system (to answer the question as to why someone may be interested in owning every game for it), so my goal is having an official version of every game that came out in the US lifespan. That goal has let me cheat with titles like Little Samson, Bomberman 2 and Bonk, since the Famicom versions are either identical or even better(non censored), though there are a few like Panic Restaurant that had changes to the level structure itself or major sprite changes that make me consider still wanting the US version. I'm sure by the time im done or nearly done, i will be looking into maybe getting the actual us carts of those few exceptions if i can fine a reasonable price. My goal also allows me to ignore meme titles like Stadium Events since a title screen change isn't enough for me to consider it a different game from World Class Trackmeet. The only title really preventing me from completing my collection in the next year or two, would be finding a copy of Surprise at Dino Peak for under a thousand. No famicom version to cheat with there. Wish i had know about those official Brazilian copies or whatever that sold cheap online a number of years ago.
>>12875015ACKTSHUALLY it's more like 130 MB, senpaidesudaddy.
>>12875401the part with the plastic contains the game that you play
>I was inspired by this guy on reddit
>>12877043Do you get them CIB or loose?
this single device can store and play the entirety of the nes, snes, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, gbc, gba, nds, ps1, ps2, and gamecube libraries. but of course, this is for someone who actually intends to PLAY the games.
>>12878221>have 25 minutes of free time to spare on the bus>hmm which of these 13,600 games shall I pick to play today?
>>12878227the same one I've been playing for the last couple days....Just play games to competion. not that hard.Replaying Fire Red on gba right now
