I've done 3 trips to Japan so far and every time I buy stuff from HARD-OFF's, BOOK-OFF's and such. I've kept all the labels these stores put on the products, sometimes they contain quality/condition assessments. How important are these for collectors if I ever sell them? Obviously the condition degrades over time but at least these are proof that I bought them myself from Japan.

what do they call whorehouses in japan, Fuck-Off?
>>

these places are a ripoff now. 5 years ago i got a saturn in box for like $20. now that same saturn is more than 5x the price. you have to use p2p marketplaces if you want a good deal in japan. everything at hardoff is triple the p2p price

They're all over Japan. Last trip I started from Tokyo, obviously checked Akihabara and explored it for days but didn't buy anything because prices were so high. Then I rented a car and toured around small cities and towns and the HARD-OFF's there had sensible prices. Those didn't feel like RIP-OFF's.
>>
>>12875289
this. Go to the suburbs and you'll find good deals. Smaller stores, no crowd.
>>
>>12875242
>these are proof that I bought them myself from Japan.
Why would that matter to anyone except you?
>>

even in the suburbs of chiba and fukuoka they were trying to fuck me. sensible deal? maybe, for them. good deal? fuck no.

I bought a PSP-2000 for $50, good condition, replaced fresh battery that has a nice battery life.
>>
>>12875310
they're easy to get for ¥6k used from p2p
>>
Going to Tokyo in a week. This will be my 4th time visiting but I haven't been since pre-Covid. I know all the Akihabara tourist traps like Super Potato but would appreciate if any anons have some advice for lesser known second hand and arcade spots. I'm there for almost a month so plenty of time to venture into the suburbs if need be.

Rent a car, buy a shinkansen ticket, get out of Tokyo.
>>
>>12875317
don't listen to that retard. get a phone number. buy from mercari or yahoo auction. stay in tokyo
>>
>>12875331
My only point was that Tokyo is an urban hell to stay at.

this thread gives me a massive hard-off

Jack-Off

That wasn't my experience but deals are relative. I got 2 mint and boxed PSP-3000s for $60 each tax free in 2025. Compared to anything sold in the US that's a great deal. I don't follow how much things sell for domestically in Japanbucks but I'll take that kind of pricing any day.
>>
>>12875242
Nobody's buying that.
>>
>>12875282
ive read that the ones outside tokyo arent as expensive but i think retro stuff in japan is jsut more pricey now even yahoo auctions etc have higher prices than they used to. happy i bought all my old consoles from there in like 2020. I think a lot of the problem is youtubers shilling proxy services to their viewers and telling them they can all get amazing deals
>>
Plastic collectors are fucking disgusting
>>
>>12875424
Yes we know, you're impoverished. You don't need to cry about it in every thread started by men who know the experience of gainful employment. You see such displays and it hurts your soul knowing that we can purchase these things without choosing between them and meals or shelter.

Speculative investors already ruined the American retro game market, and now you want advice on how to ruin japan too?
>>
>>12875376
that would be japanese chaturbate
>>
>>12875937
It's already ruined. Get what you can while you can. They might have a weak currency but they're not complete idiots. Information asymmetry is always a temporary strategy. That's why I don't brag about all the deals I got obsessively searching through proxy sites trying to find that one overlooked thing I can get absurdly cheap.

whomst?
>>
>>12875937
you are fucking retarded and haven't been paying attention, flippers have been a thing in Japan for a while and prices have been skyrocketing the last ten years
>>12875331
doesn't work, you can't buy anything because you have no payment method, foreigners can't get checking accounts and they don't accept foreign credit cards
>>12875289
all the money you spent driving around and staying in hotels it would've been the same price to just buy all that shit in Tokyo, good job dumbass
>>
>>12875242
>>12875294
You know they have book off in the US right?
>>
>>12876618
>you are fucking retarded and haven't been paying attention
Op was asking specifically if keeping the Japanese resale price tags on would help his investment. His goal is resale in the west, and he is hoping the book-off pricetag adds legitimacy/value to his product.

Don't accuse other people of not reading when you just come blundering completely unaware.

I was on a holiday, I would've been exploring japan with a car anyways.
Pro-tip: the service areas on highways serve some good basic curry rice.

Look at this big boy acting like a manchild, yeah man everybody is envious now!
>>
P.S. can someone please direct me to the nearest unemployment office? They cut off my EBT card and I'm starving.

>i wasted my "holiday" driving around looking for old toys i cant afford.
>i was so obsessed with this toy story that I couldnt even stop for a decent meal
Epic cringe if true. Post your haul.

You must be one of those zoomers that can't read for shit since Linda McMahon was installed as the education secretary.

The service areas along japan's highways are comfy.

Many such cases

your own words were:
>you want advice on how to ruin japan too?
you might be autistic.
