Did anyone else play retro games with no actual nostalgia behind it? I bought an NES to test out what it's like and holy shit it is bad. This shit is so mindless. No wonder the older generations are so mentally ill.
I never had an NES and I've been trying to finish it right now. I think it's pretty good but the hidden items with no warning everywhere are annoying

I play old games I've never played before like translations or just games I missed for whatever reason when they were new and I had no nostalgia for those specific games. NES didn't have very many good games though so you probably would have been better served with SNES, MD/Genesis, PlayStation 1/2, even fucking Xbox GameCube or GameCube, or some handhelds like GBC or GBA. Not N64 though, it's like NES in that it has some good games but not that many good games are on it.

Took me a while to get a flashcart so I just had to play the 15 games I got for it. Very enjoyable time and I can see why so many went nuts for it back then.

>>12876305This is a shitty bait thread but I'll pretend like you were being sincere.I have no nostalgia for retro gaming, because when I was a child my family only bought consoles or games second hand, meaning nothing I played was really "new" until the 360/PS3 generation, and the selection was pretty limited before then.So now I greatly enjoy going back and playing stuff that I never got to as a kid (RE1, Armored Core, Fallout 1/2, Dragonquest), but it really can't be called nostalgia because I'm only aware these games existed, not recollecting on some memory of playing them.
I just like simple games that don't have stories that are relatively challenging.
