Hello! I like Doom, and I want to run it from an ISO file. Is there a way to do that?
>>12876736No. But you can just use a portable install directory that can be copy pasted anywhere
Why?
>>12876736Any particular reason you can't just burn the doom folder to a disc? I don't think doom cares where you run it from.
>>12876736Found D2 1.7 iso image on this russian site (click on Oбpaз CD). idk where they ripped it form but it installs and runs fine on dosboxhttps://iddqd.ru/old?find=Doom+2%201.7
>>12876736doom95 let you play from the disc
>>12876879He wants to be able to play it from a disc image which is retarded in today's day and age with all of the much faster portable storage devices even smaller than a disc which you can put games on where you'll load faster and be able to write savegame files on the same device
Pretty sure dosbox supports mounting of isos so you could just pack your install dir into that iso and run it off dosbox, but.. why
>>12876736UPDATE: I want to boot Doom from an ISO using Ventoy or run it from GRUB.
>>12876792I need to run it without an OS.
>>12876736Why not use flash drive?
>>12876926Best bet would be Linux that loads into doom, especially if you want to play with usb peripherals and modern gputhere's this, but I couldn't build it and gave uphttps://github.com/shadlyd15/DoomLinux
Why? Just copy fucking doom.wad and doom2.wad and then put them in a Chocolate Doom or Crispy Doom folder or something.
