What is the most you would pay for a retro videogame? Some guy is trying to sell this basic ass bitch nintendo game for $35,000
>>
>>12876950
$200 or so

I’m a fa/tg/uy that loves mechwarrior and the battletech tabletop game so I might pay $100 for the SNES or sega genesis game.

one of a few titles you can actually call rare. game is super rare and also lame but price is subjective. i wouldn't pay that because it's not worth anything near that. 10% of $32k would be realistic price without the grading nonsense.
>>
>>12876985
Are you mentally ill?
>>
>>12876985
Nobody is buying it to actually play it. It's only rare because Nintendo pulled it from the market to release their own version of the exact same game.

The algorithm has decided that ragebait prices threads are very successful and thus should be posted every day until the end of 4chan when rapeape gets tired of wasting money on bots to make 4chan look like it's not deserted
>>

75-80 bucks. Back in like 2001 I paid 75 bucks for Saturn Rayearth. And somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-80 for Shining the Holy Ark. I thought it was a lot then.

Based. I’m seething so hard at something I don’t care about really. I look forward to the post where original sealed copy of breath of the wild is 300 million dollars.
The only thing that baits me harder is PVM threads.
>>
>>12876950
I dunno, $5? Between tradition software emulation, hardware emulation like MiSTer and romcarts/ODEs, I don't understand why you'd bother with real media these days.
>>
>>12876950
Around $500 for a limited special edition new neo geo game if its looks cool. I like the way it looks on the shelf and I could sell it for the same anyway. For actual old games maybe $100 for a sealed big box PC game that I have an attachment to.

>>12877020
I'd pay a decent amount for those working designs sega cd games if I ever saw one.
>>
>>12876950
I’ll never pay more for a retro game than its initial price tag upon release.
And really I don’t like spending more than 30-40% of its initial price
>>
>>12877020
Adjusted for inflation, $80 in 2001 would have the same purchasing power as around $152 as a couple of months ago (according to the online CPI Inflation Calculator)

>What is the most you would pay for a retro videogame?
For a game that I really like, probably no more than $50. Otherwise around $10. It'd be moreso as a novelty than for actual playing, as I play retro games on my PC.
>>
>>12876950
I have a hard time imagining myself spending more than $80 on a video game, regardless of how much I like it.
I think the most I've paid for a single game ever was about $60.
>>
>>12876950
Everything can be gotten online. But I guess you're forced to buy stuff in prison. Then around $200 fro Kane & Lynch and Xbox 360 games.

In AUD. About that for Steel Battalion with controller too.

Modern games for older consoles around that too. If having to earn money in jail then much less.

Should be a market for them. Like make games fro old consoles, specifically too for prisoners. Like simulate travel, social and freedom.

Paid 60€ for Snatcher like 20 years ago. Never paid more than that for a retro game.

>>
>>12876985
looking at the box it is some Euro/PAL/German release, so it isn't worth what they're asking
>>

>>12876950
Yeah, 200.
I spent that on a boxed copy of Trespasser.
Kinda stupid to do that, but whatever.

The most expensive thing I spent on, about $200USD of back then 2006-7 money for the AvP B-board which is almost double now. I didn't regret it then, but I sort of do now despite how much I love the game, $400USD is a significant amount of money which can go towards my rent.
>>
>>12876950
Ebay needs to shut these sellers down.
>>
$20 and under is impulse buy territory
$20 to $50 I'll think about it
$50 to $100 I'll only think about it if I know it's a good or very hard to find game
$100 and above it has to be something I personally care about for me to even consider it

The only two games I ever spent more than $100 on were Conker and God Hand. I'd do it for Pokemon Colloseum too but that game is like $300 these days and fuck that, I don't want to put a regular childhood rental back into my collection that badly.
>>
>>12876950
$400 for a Star Fox Super Weekend.
>>

>tfw rent is $300 in tokyo
>but for most of the past year was living in places it was below $150
>>
>>12878349
Wait a minute here, you have 500000 retro items and you don’t even own the house you keep them in? is that even your own worktop? Perhaps your priorities are wrong.
>>
>>12876950
legitimately rare game. nintendo bought the rights to it pretty quick after release and re-released it as world class track meet. one of the few times a high price makes sense unlike charging $500 for a limited run games release of poop simulator.
>>
>>12878349
Nah AvP arcade is based af
>>
>>12878895
How does it make sense when you can play it for free on an emulator or a flash card on real hardware? It’s also garbage. Also no one will take it out the packaging. So as a game it makes no sense. It’s purely a display item that one day will be worth very little when the interest drops
There is no good reason, this is clearly a bubble with a few crazy sellers and collectors. For most of its existence you would struggle to sell it. Someone will be left holding it when the fad fails.
Anyone arguing this makes sense has problems.
