How did they survive falling at the intro?
>>12879674A wizard did it.
>>12879676they're not wizards though
>>12879674The same way they survive bigger falls during gameplayusually pseuds complain about story/gameplay dichotomy, not the other way around....
>>12879674By the same reason they can jump several times their height.
Man, i just beat this game today it was pretty rough. I liked the card system but the movement is pretty horrible and there aren't many songs.Yes I used save states on the battle arena.
are there any side scrollers that have an actual fall damage or death mechanic? as far as I know in a sidescroller that's exclusively reserved for death pits, not actual vertical distance. it does make sense that 3d games and 2d games would be different in that way, you can't exactly angle the camera upward and look down in 2d.
>>12879974*angle the camera downward
>>12879974i seem to recall abe having a few fall deaths
>>12879974yes, but i cannot name the game(also prince of persia)
They used a controlled fall technique
>>12879974Donkey Kong.
>>12879974NES Spelunker. And it sucks.
>>12879896>the movement is pretty horriblewere you just double tapping forward every time? if you press back-forward instead then the movement stops being an issue.
>>12879974Bubsy 1 infamously has fall damage. In reality, it's not as bad as it's made out to be though, since as long as you enter a glide before hitting the ground you won't die.
>>12879674Falling damage isn't a thing in Castlevania, unless it's into pits that don't lead anywhere but that pit did lead somewhere
>>12880931but all pits would lead to somewhere eventually
>>12880535Fall damage part of physic. Also Bubsy is garbage mascot that remain buried.
Belmont's Curse is worse than Circle of the Moon
>>12879974James Bond Jr. and Star Wars for the nes. MKM: Sub-zero... I'm pretty sure there are lots more.
>>12881473Not a bottomless pit.
>>12879974Prince of Persia Little Nemo
>>128799741990's 3D games didn't have fall damage either. I think Morrowind was the first? Not sure.
>>12883302Dark Forces had fall damage in 95, then Tomb Raider and Duke Nukem 3D the next yearI think Terminator Future Shock might too I can't recall
>>12879974Pretty sure double dragon on the genesis does this
>>12881782those aren't real, and you wouldn't die because there's nothing to fall on and kill you
>>12883302Pretty much every N64 platformer had fall damage to my memory. I think OoT did too.
>>12883673Maybe there's spikes there and they just don't show it.
>>12879674Because it's a shit game. Circle of the Shit
>>12883302You didn't play 1990's 3D games
>>12887363Why does it get so much more hate than the other titles in the series?
>Contrarian of the Moon
>>12883673You would die of starvation.
>>12883673>bottomless pit>those aren't realexplain your mom's ass, then?
>>12889930maybe because it demonstrates the limitations of doing symphonyshit design with the whip, or maybe because of KCEK's shit obsession with poison water.>>12893358>he can't reachlmao dicklet
>>12879974Super PitfallLester the UnlikelyDark Castle
>>12883302>Bruh literally forgot Super Mario 64
>>12879974Blaster Master/Meta Fight in the side scrolling segments has fall damage, and it's fatal from a high enough distance. There's even a spot in the Japanese version where you're expected to make a blind leap of faith and grab a ladder before you hit the ground, or else you instantly die if you miss the chance.
>>12893895That's kinda cool though because you probably see the ladder when you die the first time and then on 2nd try it's kino
>>12893901The view is zoomed in enough that I think you can see it just at the edge of the screen if you hug the wall before climbing the big ladder. Either way, the playtesters of the US version didn't like it, so it was changed to a complete non-issue. Funny enough Nintendo Power still worked off an early version in their tips section, and describe an exploit where you just hug the wall as you fall so you die on the lock itself, opening the door at the cost of one life.
>>12893954That's even cooler. You're convincing me to go play this game now, is what you're doing.
>>12879674Idk but the fall at the start is a callback to CV1 Block 4.
>>12889930The movement sucks and the drop rate on the cards is abyssmal so you either farm or you go through the game with almost nothing.Anons will argue that you don't need cards to beat the game, which is true, but the DSS is CotM's most interesting idea and having good ones makes the game way more fun. That's why Magician Mode is the only way to play the game that feels any good, but that still doesn't fix the awful movement and mediocre soundtrack.
>>12879674how do you not develop lifelong painful arthritis from trying to play this game using double tap just to run?
>>12881501Haven't played but honestly I believe it.
>>12894072I never had an issue with it.
