do the newer versions of the game overhaul the UI? the fact that this has tank controls, no mouse, and shitty awkward inventory is really making me want to drop it before i even start. adventure games are meant for KBM
>>12880380Yes, and tank controls are disabled by default in the remaster (but you can turn them on). Best game ever, btw.
>>12880397is the remaster on parity with the original i.e. nothing changed/censored?
>>12880417I've played through the original and remaster and don't recall anything not being there and/or changed outside of improving the appearance of things.
>>12880380I completed the remaster a few months ago because of the nostalgia factor (latam guy) and for me, it's not about the gameplay but more for the joy of the legendary spanish dubbed work (again, latam) which apparently, also participated in the also legendary Metal Gear Solid. So to answer your question, yes the UI was a little improved, you can use your mouse for a more user-friendly approach but it's pretty much the same experience as from the 90s version. It just have a better display for modern machines. It's called point-n-click adventure game for a good reason, don't expect a complete remake for this type of games. It's for older people who enjoy games from the past century. So give it a shot, it's pretty cheap and the story is very cool with some really nice moments with funny situations.
>>12880380It fixes the bug where you get stuck on the conveyor belt underwater if your cpu goes over 800 MHz, so you can complete years 3 and 4There's a little gui menu over your mouse cursor that you can use, it's well done enough and doesn't get in the wayYou're still going to want a walkthrough in certain parts because it's a 90's adventure game
>>12880380It's kind of cool how it doesn't have any HUD's or visible gamey interfaces at all, everything shown is part of the game's world, not even a mouse pointer on screen to distract from the immersion. It's just really stupid doing that with an adventure game where you're trying to solve puzzles and want a fast and practical interface.
>>12880380>filtered by tank controlssub-60IQ post, you'd be too retarded to play the game without a guide anyway so just skip it
>>12880632Wait THAT'S why I couldn't beat it?
>>12880421good to know. downloading remastered now>>12880463>It's called point-n-click adventure game for a good reason, don't expect a complete remake for this type of games. It's for older people who enjoy games from the past century.i've played most of the other lucasarts adventure games. GF is a complete departure because it's 3D. i know they were excited to be on the cutting edge but the controls/UX were a step backwards.>>12880709>muh immersionretarded point because you still have to select dialogue options. how is that not also immersion breaking?
>>12881285>you still have to select dialogue optionsYeah that's the one exception. Schafer was partly inspired by BioForge, which was touted as an "interactive movie" though it plays kind of like Alone in the Dark. It had tank controls and fixed camera angles, but also tried to make the interfaces part of the game. The main menu was literally a touch screen on the MC's cyborg arm where you'd see his finger and guide it to press the buttons.
