When did you become a pirate?
For me, literally when I was like 5 years old, my store bought Playstation could play pirated games right out of the box and even cake with like 10 pirated games,
I even could buy pirated games from any store for cheap, in fact pirated games were much more common than original games, incredible Sony made so much money with the Playstation despite the pirates.

High school, downloading soundtracks off khinsider in the school library because they had high speed interweb. I don't think games came until later

Pretty much from the moment I discovered emulation, which was circa 1997/98. Of course, emulators back then weren't exactly the best, especially for the 5th gen consoles, so I didn't pirate everything just yet. As for pirating on real hardware, my first foray was probably with the Dreamcast, since it didn't require a chip, but the floodgates really opened with the Wii, and later on the PS2 as well once I sourced a network adapter to put games on a hard drive.

Thanks for killing the Dreamcast

Those long nights spent grinding away playing CD-Rs did it in sadly. But the Dreamcast was revived years later thanks to a GDEMU, a Noctua fan mod, and a modern 12v power supply that won't burn out.

was emulating nes games in 97 or 98. snes/genesis soon after. as far as new pc releases, doom 3 was the first game i ever torrented and used a keygen for. i cant actually even think of another game i torrented but i probably did. i mostly paid for games but torrented movies/music. not even sure why. throughout the years i used mirc, kazaa, morpheus, napster, soulseek and then pretty much torrents from there on out.
>>
In 98 I emulated Pokemon games. Also Sonic 2. Later on I got on IRC and found PC/console games to download. I joined scene groups. I leeched games from topsites.

Secondary school, when I learned how to burn cd's and chip the playstation. Made a good profit selling them at school.

You're a fag if you emulate games and don't experience the true physical media.
>>
>>12882368
software emulation is faggier than sucking dick but hardware emulation or flashcarts are based

It's not like when I was that young I could beg my parents to order me the latest bung enterprises products from lik sang. Also it's not like being hyped to see a poorly translated version of pokemon gold and silver running and experiencing it for the first time didn't make me ask my parents to buy the real legit cartridge for me.

got a hacked original xbox from a family member when i was 5, instantly used it all the time since most of the games inside were roms and barely any games for that console. i still remember playing the shit out of the n64 and neo geo sections out of it. later got a 3ds and mostly used it to play ds games out of a r4. good times

I didn't start pirating games until I got my hands on a Utopia Boot Disc and started pirating games for the Sega Dreamcast back in the year 2000, sometime during the summer I think. I can't remember what month or day. It led me to eventually downloading DreamSNES onto a CD-R in 2002, which was pretty cool. Playing Super Nintendo games on a Sega console was truly mind blowing.

Neighbour gave me a cd of Genesis roms and Kgen at 8

Actually it was probably DOTT or Monkey Island from my uncle, the former wasn’t cracked properly so he had to replace it with a fixed version that bypassed pic related.

Middle school/very early high school in the late 90s/early 00s when I realized
>wait you can play videogames
>FOR FREE?!?!
And finally got to play NES games as I didn't have one as a kid.

Depends on your definition of piracy. If a physical option exists with no download dependent retardation, I have always gone with that. I have soft modded disc based systems to rip my own discs. Magnetic media i will just copy from wherever it's available (but its neat to have the original box). Digital only i will 100% pirate all the time (besides the rare times it's officially free) since no company has the capability to squeeze a penny out of me for a download.

Congratulations idiot, you killed the Dreamcast.

I don't know.
I must have been like 8 copying my first floppies and being blamed for school PC not booting up!

You're a Sudaca I take it, OP?
>>
>>12882729
Why? You're the champion of the cheap. Hero of the thrift store scene. Flexing burn copies like an underground machine. You helped buried the Dreamcast.

>piracy killed (thing i like)
>citations: schizophrenia and crack cocaine
has this meme started working for you yet? and let's remind everyone about an important thing: sega knew that the dreamcast could be exploited from day 1 and did very little to secure the system. lol.

It all started when I discovered emulation around the year 2000
