Why are Japanese gamecube boxes so fucking cool? We should got that in the states.
>>12885627>plastic mini boxesyes>paper sleevesfuck no
>>12885627Amerimutt kids would have destroyed them all. Just like they did with the N64 ones.
>>12885759N64 boxes were packaging, not museum pieces. They were meant to be disposed of.
>>12885627I agree, they're really neat, and pair better with the minidisc than the weird custom DVD-like cases. Good thing they're still mostly dirty cheap. There's a couple I'd still like to get, fortunately I have almost any US GC game I'd want from back when they were current (outside of Wario World, for which I'm fine with just having a JP copy).
>>12885825the point being is that the japanese take good care of their stuffretro japanese stores are filled with cib games
>>12885972Yeah, there's a lot of good condition Japanese games, but there are a LOT of very shitty condition ones. I guess those just don't tend to make their way outside of junk store bins and bulk auction lots. Also, I've noticed over the years that sunfading seems to be a common problem for Japanese games. I'm guessing stores there are more likely to store games right next to wide open glass windows lacking any sort of UV filtering or something.
>>12885759Rent free.
>>12885627It is the petite size which is great for transport and storage. However, marketing in the US is a huge and important factor. The larger packaging of the US game cases gives a larger canvas for the art to stand out and conforms to the expected size for a ready-made rack or shelf. There's just too many benefits more suited to American tastes than what is befitting of Japanese preferences.
>>12886954That viewtiful joe one is about a thousand times better than the one we got.
>>12885861Oh so you are gonna make it go up even more tranny hoarder?
>>12885627Things have to be bigger in the US to prevent theft
>>12885627>We should got that in the states."We" should but coyotes weren't trafficking your daddy's balls back then
>>12887274I'm obligated to sell my games?
>>12885759
>>12886954I really don't like how they just completely bombard their covers with text and bubbles and blurbs. That Donkey Konga 3 case is a perfect example of what not to do. Wario World one looks good though.
>>12885627>We should got that in the states.only foreigners refer to the US as "the states"
>>12887215They're essentially the same to me. Same art, looks good.>>12889080It is sort of a contrast in philosophies in advertising. Notice the bombardment of text and so many font styles in Japanese ads, whereas minimalism is preferred everywhere else. I still think it looks fine to me either way, since the design of the Japanese slip case covers should have the upper right for the platform, and the features such as player count and memory block usage on the bottom.
>>12885627Looks worse to me the clear case is cheap and ugly.
