Do platformer fans like Ape Escape? Always felt it was a bit different than the other 5th gen platformers
>>12885816not a platformer fan but loved ape escape 3. perfect game to play stoned.
I loved it. I was really cool when it first came out too, nice graphics at the time and the first game that required the dualshock controller with the double analog sticks and vibration. So it felt like something new at the time, and that's probably one reason it still feels different besides the focus on chasing and catching monkeys.
It's not a platformer.
>>12886058This, it's a plapformer
Making the main enemies the primary collectable in a collectathon is a genius move. There's tons of level variety and the level design itself is excellent. I also appreciate that's AE1 is just slightly more challenging than some very easy collectathons like Banjo or Spyro. Makes it more fun to replay nowadays. Ape Escape 1 is the best 5th gen collectathon, and the same goes for Ape Escape 3 and the 6th gen.
>>12885816>Pre-rendered style Ape Escape 1Cmon, AI Buddha St. Peter, make it happen
>>12885816There is a rumor that headcanon (sonic mania devs) are working on an ape escape game, maybe using the tech they developed for Penny's Big Breakaway. Hope that's true, I didn't love that game but the engine looked fantastic, maybe a more focused gameplay loop and some sonybucks will elevate the project.
>>12885816Yes, it was popular in 1999-2002 but always inferiro to spyro, crash, rayman and disney games like hercules.
>>12886415Too bad if it does happen, it will be in the era of no more physical games for playstation systems, which instantly kills any interest i had left in any SCE IP or the PS brand at all unless im playing it on a hacked ps6 in 15 years or it ends up coming to the switch 2 where more people would appreciate the franchise.
I never played it but I like the music
>>12885816Never played the first one, only played the 2nd and 3rd when I was a kid. Tried to replay the 2nd a few years ago but got filtered by the damn casino level. I wanted to catch all the monkeys but those little gun fuckers are impossible to catch
>>12886505>inferirorApe Escape completely shits on all the games you mentioned
>>12885816I like the 6th gen ones, 2, 3 and pumped & primed (best party game btw).>>12886415>I didn't love that game but the engine looked fantasticI can see it working if they get someone that knows how to design levels that are more fun to play for average players. Penny seemed to suffer from trying to focus on speedrunners and sequence breaking, going through the levels normally without mastery was boring AF, not much incentive to get better IMO.
>>12885816I only played the 1st one, and I loved it.
>>12886058it's a collect-em-up, which is a platformer without the platforming.
>>12890397It's an action game.
>>12886076>from the makers of Sonic Mania
>>12886076The four resemble the tummy btw
Childhood game.
The first game was great but 2 was disappointing. Played the demo when it was out and even as a kid I thought it was lame. I was already moving on to R&C.
>>12893994I don't get why people always say this. I fucking love AE2. It's on the modern consoles at high resolution and framerate, too
