My snes power jack broke like picrel but while I was waiting to repair it I tried to use a different 12V 2A DC adapter but I think I shorted out the little pole thingys because now it doesn't turn on at all, did it blow a fuse or something or did I just permanently fry the entire fucking thing and have to buy another one?

i remember the power jack on my old SNES being finicky as hell and not working unless it was plugged in just right
if you got a multimeter i'd open it up and check if power is even getting through the connector

>Did I fucking kill my childhood snes?
Of course not. You're on the 4chin so you must be 18+ So the broken SNES you bought on ebay last week as an adult can't be your childhood SNES

Yeah it's fucked, m8. Many such cases.
Coincidently you've reached the crossroads with impeccable timing, as you can soon pre-order the Analogue Super Nt+ and get a reliable and practical modern solution, instead of rolling the dice with old, yellow, and fragile original hardware.

It's probably fixable.
I've fucked up two SNES using bad PSUs, but I've fixed them both. You can find replacement power ports for sale by just googling "SNES power port replacement", but you will need to solder it in.
You'll also need to replace the fuse. If it's just a regular SNES and not the junior, the fuse is located at the back on the right side of the console. It uses a 1.5A fuse.
The SNES uses a 10v 850mA power supply with a very distinct jack. Use an official one.

I broke the power switch on mine. I bought a new one and replaced it. You can too. I believe in you, OP.

Sounds bad but I ruined a Gamegear by playing it at night with mod wires hanging out that touched the plug as I was moving around. Probably just the lcd mod kit since the sound still works.

>>12886016
I have to use a bit higher power because of flash carts and a wireless controller dongle, I get buzzing sound otherwise and sometimes picture issues

Unfinished product for hundreds of dollars? Why not just get a SuperStation 1 at that point? Does more for the same price and is just as incomplete.

it does have a fuse, it's easy to replace.
but since your power jack is already kinda fucked, you may as well mod it to take usb-c or install an internal power supply if it's a more modern model without the separate audio module.
i did mine, a 1-chip model, and now i just plug a standard figure 8 cable. no more power supply fuckery.
>>
time to USB-C power mod it

ONE POWER CABLE TO RULE THEM ALL

lol no the plastics are just fragile pieces of shit in super nintendos. The whole console has some of the most fragile design of the 90s and years of shitty psus and fucking around has caught up to it. Firstly replace the rear power panel.
https://console5.com/store/snes-super-nintendo-power-input-jack-replacement.html
They're not expensive. While you're there order a replacement fuse,
https://console5.com/store/fuse-125v-1-5a-pico.html
You probably popped your current one. If all this fails and the console still isn't getting juice you fragged your 7805 which is also an easy thing to replace.
https://console5.com/store/7805-l78s05cv-high-output-2a-5v-voltage-regulator-3-pin-to-220-5v.html

Lastly, lots of super nintendos are getting leaky caps. While you're inside this is a good chance to address what kind of snes you have and what kind of caps you need, which can also be found on console5.

That last one I'd save if you're not comfortable working on your console to that degree, but the steps before that should get you to solve your no power issue.
