This is one of the best 2D Marios, why does Nintendo act like it doesn't exist other than Wario?
>>
>>12887250
Meh is it really considered that highly? It's just kind of okay.
>>
>>12887250
I don't really like 2D Mario, but I like this one
And also Mario 2 because it's not like 2D Mario
>>
>>12887271
It's really fun get the DX GBC rom
>>
Game is too easy except for the final level
>>
>>12887338
I think it's that way because you can start anywhere
>>
>>12887338
>a mario game's easy
Wow, damn, hooooooly shit, call the press
>>
>>12887371
stfu retard
>>
>>12887338
There is not a single difficult 2D Mario game made after SMB2 (lost levels)

screen crunch: the game

This.

I thought it was pretty good, even if the floaty controls did take a while to get used to. My guess as to why Nintendo never did anything with it (that I know of) is because they saw Wario Land and thought:
>Why try to make another 2D Mario series for the Gameboy consoles when we can make a new series that will incentivize people that already have home console Mario to buy the games, and thus -- the Gameboy!

(Also that one trailer for Super Mario Land 2 with Wario hypnotizing the audience was extremely soulful)

Miyamoto Mario Mandate.
>carrot power-up
>references the Nintendo legos
>bosses are not part of the Mushroom Kingdom canon
>bells were stolen for 3D World
>too open world for the time, that's bad game design unless Miyamoto has his eye on it (Even Mario Odyssey isn't true open world because most stages are linearly unlocked)
>>

I don't think nintendo has anything in particular against it, they just tend to have an expedient mindset with their properties. wario covers the land stuff, why do anything more with it? if someone within the company stuck their neck out for it I don't see any reason why it couldn't be included as some sort of tie in.

>hey I was thinking about revisiting this old mario game, there are some colorful fun scenarios we could make use of
>FOOL, GAME TOO EASY. WE ACT AS NEVER HAPPEN
>>
>>12887516
I love that we can't talk about how games are maybe too easy so aren't very fun but have to contort ourselves into believing they're some like educational content on how to make gaems and it's just baby retard shit lol. Only happens with this shit by the way.

shitters dominate the conversation and make up the overwhelming majority of game sales. they got the entire internet and game industry to cater to them. they will kvetch and screech and dogpile you or ban you if you call them out for being bad at games.

I hope you don't like the Galaxy games. Those games are actually for babies
SML2 is fine
>>
>>12887250
>why does Nintendo act like it doesn't exist other than Wario?
What exactly do you want them to do? They put it on Virtual Console and Switch Online, which is as much recognition as they're willing to give any old games short of an actual remake.

>I hope you don't like the Galaxy games. Those games are actually for babies
Despite being easy games for casuals, they were clearly designed for everyone to enjoy. See this official Nintendo material:

Even a skilled gamer can find ways to have fun within the sandbox they give you, the devs knew and designed it for that. Games like SMW are like that too. But from the little I remember of Mario Land 2, it's just too basic and boring. An actual baby game. That, on top of the massive screen crunch, to me means it's a downgrade over SML1 and one of the worst Mario games overall.

What I'd like to see is a return to form for Wario. Have him be an antagonist to Mario again in a mainline game, even if it's just as a secondary villain. I don't like that he's just doomed to be the funny fat fart man.
>>
>>12887250
I like sml1 better
>>

1. I was making fun of the idea that revisiting a game in a modern aesthetic way would hinge on its difficulty or lack there of.
2. I didn't mean that they literally needed to crib the design of the game, rather it just having material to reference for memberberries.

Love this game!

Wario wasn't meant to be a long-term rival, but a Bizarro World parody of Mario. In the end, splitting off from Mario to be his own character was for the better.

This. Think of all the great games we would've missed out on.
