Any ancientfags here? Do you guys also remember that gaming magazines back in the day talked about the cut content like it was still in the game? It's been so long that that I forgot the details, but I know that I had 2 different magazines, both with instructions to access stuff that wasn't in the game.
>>12887432they usually got a review copy like 2-3 months before gold
Back in the day secret content and cheats were essentially DLC, so sometimes the devs wrote guides/cheat lists that got distributed with press kits. If those were finalized before the game was done shit like this can easily happen.
>>12887432I remember a german magazine talking about how to unlock all the reaver variants that were cut.
It wasn't just contained to magazines. Early gameFAQs was riddled with riddled with bullshit guides.

>>12887432>cut content like it was still in the gameI remember PC Gamer, I believe, talking about Half-Life 2, and how you could literally burn down buildings and break down doors to "find new pathways".Needless to say when I actually played the game I was massively disappointed, probably unreasonably so, but still. People really need to understand how to shut their fucking mouths about over-hyping their game.

>>12887432I remember shit like Outpost where reviewers praised features that weren't actually in the release version of the game.
>>12887432I remember people calling Alone in the Dark New Nightmare "Alone in the Dark 4". A few people still call it that but it was a real Berestain Bears moment for me
