>Its the most beloved game in history by Gamers and Non Gamers alikeFinal Fantasy 7 lost Ocarina of Time its still the best game ever
Link to the Past > Ocarina of TimeFF6 > FF7
>>12887948Zelda is better than Final Fantasy in general
>>12887948LA > AlttP>>12888019Not a big deal, FF is worse than most jrpgs and only relevant because of fmv cutscenes, notice how people don't give a fuck about anything but 7
>>12888019Overall, yes, but that has a lot to do with Zelda being very consistent in style and mechanics, while FF was wildly experimental from game-to-game, alienating its own fans in the process. Imagine if every other Zelda was a weird as Zelda 2 and you have an idea of what it's like to be an FF fan.
>>12887942I replayed this recently due to all the chat of the remake. It's fucking mediocre. Repetitive combat, unending fetch quests and a massive empty field. Dungeons were mostly alright and some of the bosses were fine, but the whole game overall was average at best. Has not aged particularly well.
>>12888085It had been two years since the N64 launched and owners could count the number of actually good games on two hands. They were starved for a real AAA title and Zelda OoT was it.
>>12888096I mean, fine? But that doesn't excuse the massive glazing the game still gets to this day.
>>12888096i don't know about release dates but n64 has plenty of great games. sm64, starfox 64, f zero x, excitebike 64, bomberman hero, goemon's great adventure, pokemon stadium, banjo, perfect dark, puzzle league, smash, paper mariopretending this game was good has caused irreparable damage to the n64's reputation. noobs hear about the n64, they hear people calling oot the best game for it, and then they try it and say: "that's it? wow the n64 library sux"when in reality oot is not even a top 10 n64 game
>>12887942Beloved by non-gamers huh? That's... some kind of a compliment, you're saying? What is the favorite painting of blind people while we're at it?Personally I would rather play any Civilization game than Ocarina of Time. It is a good game though; I would rather play Ocarina of Time than Doom. I think that I can't say whether or not I would rather play Ocarina of Time than FreeCell. Those two are about even for me.
>>12887942This is such a stupid apples to oranges, dishonest comparison. One is a turn based jrpg. On is an action RPG (also called Adventure game). Any comparison is just comparing genres. These have been separate genres since Adventure and Dragonstomper came out for Atari 2600.Compare Ocarina of Time to games similar to it like Brightis, Legacy of Kain, Megaman Legends 1-2, Brave Fencer Musashi, Kingsley’s Adventure or at least the top down stuff like Alundra. You could even compare it to The Divide, but thats more Metroid than Zelda in my opinion. At least its more in the ballpark. Zelda beats all of these in my opinion. Mystical Ninja starring Goemon beats most of them. I like Soul Reaver the best on PS1.Compare FF7 to Paper Mario, Quest 64, Hybrid Heaven, Zool (Pokemon ripoff) or Chronicles of Aidyn. FF7 is easily better than all of these. It blows these out of the water even more than Zelda beats its competition. But even this isn’t the whole story. PS1 was the powerhouse rpg console by far. But to be honest, FF7’s real competition was Pokemon at the time. Who sold more? Which is better known today? Panzer Dragoon Saga is my vote the best alternative for a jrpg on competing console. But PS1 is without a doubt the best console for that syle of game at the time. These real situation was, Sony flooded the market with great RPGs. Nintendo released the killer app of all killer apps, and Sega arguably released one overlooked masterpiece. As for the actual situation with Zelda, Nintendo just made a game that was better than other games like it in 1998. The PS1 had more good games on it, even in this genre, but Nintendo pulled this one off. It’s better.
>>12888139Who cares about that list of games when most of the were released AFTER Ocarina of Time? Back when Ocarina was brand new, it was amazing. Obviously if you're a young zoomer who grew up playing all the games that Ocarina had influenced, then going back to the original is not going to feel special in any way whatsoever. It's a shame you weren't alive to enjoy it new and instead you had to grow up gaming in the modern era.
>>12888019Apples are better than oranges
>>12888206stop gassing up oot dude you're doing more harm than good by pretending it was good
