Looks pretty good. It's AIslopped, for those who care.

I like royale-xm29 better still desu
>>
Doesn't look anything special. Weak mask definition. Already mogged by existing shaders.
>>

I sure love my fake CRTs, along with vegan meat and fake cheese. Just like the real thing.
>>
>>12888176
We're not buying your RARE - HOLY GRAIL - VINTAGE RETRO SONY CRT $1000 item. You basically created the same problem you're complaining about.
>>
>>12888290
CRT shaders have exactly zero resemblance to an actual CRT. I am not saying you should buy a real CRT. I am saying that these grotesque simulacrums serve no purpose and should not be used. A much better solution would be to attempt to distill the specific features of a CRT that specifically result in the desired pixel blending, rather than straight up blindly attempting to replicate the exact look of a CRT which is impossible, since no combination of pixels fed into a flat panel can equal the appearance of a CRT.

You're coping and dilating.
>no combination of pixels
Yeah, I've read this before. You're a broken record. Waiting to hear the "a picture of a CRT doesn't look like a CRT but the picture of a flat screen completely looks like a flat screen" next. Sorry spammer but I'm not having it. It sucks you haven't left the site but I guess as numbers wind down, only trolls remain. Sageing and unwatching because I'm not in the business of listening to broken records. Scream at the wind.
>>
>>12888087
Can these shaders be used on low resolutions or do they all require 4K monitors?
>>
>>12888320
>CRT shaders have exactly zero resemblance to an actual CRT.
You are silly and annoying.
>>
>>12888443
define "low resolutions"
there are some specifically designed for 4k, but many look fine at 1080p
>>
>>12888320
It looks pretty much exact on an OLED display actually
>>
>>12888552
OLED is still a sample and hold display technology. It simply isn't capable of replicating the motion clarity of a CRT. Retards who're either too young to have used a CRT or too old and senile to remember what the one they had 25 years ago looked like always miss the point when it comes to why CRTs are so good. Simply replicating the look in a static image is pointless when it all falls apart in motion.
>inb4 muih beam shader
>muh BFI
Band-Aids to make an inherently compromised image less so, yet are still unable to compete with a real CRT and will always be so until panels in the thousands of Hertz exist.
>>
>>12888443
Depends. Low TVL slot mask shaders benefit highly from higher res. Aperture grille shaders at any TVL can look fine on 1080p.
>>
>>12888534
Windowed 800x600 up to 1920x1080
I rarely play in full-screen mode.
>>
>>12888661
Yeah, I probably wouldn't bother on anything below 1080p unless you just want scanlines and some blurring. In the end it's just an aesthetic thing, though, so give it a try and see if you like it. Libretro has a decent overview of the ones that come with retroarch: https://docs.libretro.com/shader/crt/
>>
>>12888682
If he uses an aperture grille shader it doesn't matter, it scales well with resolution. Resolution matters more for slot/shadow masks.
>>
>>12888682
>>12888794
Thanks for the info
>>
>>12888290
good thing you dont have to. just upscale using an appropriate interpolation method and the games look better than they ever did on a crt
>>
I play all my games scaled up with nearest neighbor because I’m 38 and that’s just how we used to emulate shit. Enjoy your stupid fucking filters.
>>
>>12888946
you used to emulate shit on a CRT with a VGA cable, though

looks like just Blargg's NTSC with scanlines and screen curvature

Filters are for homos
I didn't make the rules

How many bait threads have we had on this board where people just posted real CRT images and retards like the anon you replied to said it was lookin good and didn't look like a real crt? Good crt shaders are pretty much indistinguishable.

More than you are old?

that happened once buddy

Being A NAMEFAG tuns your arguments invalid, Gayve.

The question is, how does it compare to Royale?
>>
>>12891152
Royale fast is now theking of presets from phones hh to 4k.

lol
>>
>>12891171
I don't understand why anyone would subject themselves to this. I can understand using a filter to simulate the essential blending properties of NTSC. But trying to simulate the exact look of the entire setup including the defects is just insane. It objectively looks bad.
>>
>>12891221
You never owned a consumer tube you millenial shitstain.
>>
>>12891221
what the fuck are these hysterical reactions to shaders? you sound like they fucked your sister.
>>
>>12891264
The distinction between consumer grade and pvm is mostly an American, and third worldism. In our country the difference between consumer grade and pvm was minimal. We actually did own a PVM at one point, and its image quality was mid.
>>
>>12888320
>CRT shaders have exactly zero resemblance to an actual CRT.
Nah, they look pretty similar actually.
>>
Remember, the same retards who hates crt shaders, are the same people who keeps getting trolled by real crt tv owners with screenshots thinking they are shaders.

Mainly vga monitor screenshots.
>>
>>12891769
I'm okay with VGA monitor bros playing their games with some shaders to make their image look like a consumer CRT because getting 240p onto them doesn't work that well - mine didn't like me trying it at least, but I've seen others have better results.

Playing your games at 640x480 and adding blank lines gets you pretty close to a 240p look anyway - it looks a bit too perfect imo almost like a PVM. You still have all the other problems doing that like emulation lag and input lag from your USB controller, plus all the wrong yucky things that happen to your soul when you use a 360 controller to play SNES games or something.

I don't really hate CRT shaders I just think people who are emulating games onto their LCD/OLED screens are delusional if they think it looks even remotely like a CRT because just getting some scanlines and composite blending isn't the only reason to use them. modern display fags haven't seen a smoothly scrolling image in their entirely lives if they think it's even remotely close.
>>
>>12891782
I am saying vga monitor shaders, because guest can 100% copy and replicate a real lg studioworks now.
And i double checked it a lot.
>>
For me personally, I like shaders to emulate the effects of composite cables, because it's like I'm plugging the console directly into my monitor with the official video cables. CRT shaders though, I admire the effort, but because the effort of capturing all efforts of CRTs is so fruitless, I just can't have interest. Is there a better composite shader out there than ntsc-320px?
>>
>>12891796
>guest can 100% copy and replicate a real lg studioworks now
Uhhh okay? Why would you do that?
>>
>>12891834
Because PC games from the 90's doesnt work without shadowmask.
Mainly rts or 3d games.
>>
>>12891908
I suppose that's good to get the job done, but it's still better I think to have an actual CRT monitor so you can actually work around the variable resolutions and refreshrates of old PC games, I think.
Like with DOS you need 70hz, because DOS games were made to run at 35fps. You're fine with 90s windows gaming I guess since 60hz became the target refresh there.

As long as you're happy playing games but and I guess if some CRT fag is giving you shit and you hit printscreen of your shader and he accepts it as a real example of CRT that's just kind of funny because the only way to actually show what you're display looks like is to do it boomer style with a camera?
>>
>>12891294
You only see them on 4chan as well. This site just has the most insufferable people around, ready to feel slighted by everything in the most dramatic way. Most anons are terminally raped people.
>>
>>12888087
TEETH
>>
>>12891769
Taking a photo of a CRT is a form of CRT shader. Its only not a shader if you see it with your own physical eyes.
>>
>>12888087
Tried it, it is shit. Retro Crisis is better
>>
>>12894015
>Retro Crisis
Didn't know about those. They look nice.
