Did you ever set a high score for anything at your arcade?
Yeah
>>12889427That's insane
>>12889427Yeah, I did once, also on Galaga. It was only like 40,000 because the arcade wasn't very busy. A month later the arcade owners reset the machine and wiped my score off though.
>>12889421yea, then I came back the next week and realized they reset the scores every time someone took a shit
>>12889421Yeah but I can't remember off the top of my head. Not any impressive score, it's just a lot of places reset their scores frequently so it wasn't too hard.
The employee who held it wasn't too pleased when I took over the top spot.
>>12889421Yes but never in a way that seemed to matter.
>>12889421Sure, before NVRAM use became widespread scores usually reset every day when they turned the cabs on.
I don't remember, but the bowling alley a few towns over has some racist slurs in the top scores and I think it's hilarious
>>12889636>>12890008>>12890146Is this really true?So George Costanza couldn’t have held that Frogger record for a decade?
I was trying to do Daytona record in a pizzeria/club thing. It was in 2010's but no way, it was insurmountable. I doubt the record was actually set in that place. It was probably saved from the original owners?
>>12890310Only if it was never power-cycled (wasn't that the point of the episode?).There are mods to have it use battery-backed RAM, though:https://www.jrok.com/sohs/frogger/frogger.html
>>12889421I have a long standing high score(s) on an Outrun at a nearby arcade. Not an Outrun savant by any means but I can reliably finish a race more times than not which makes me better than your average normie arcade goer.
>>12890421is it a MAME cab or a modded one? Stock Out Run doesn't keep the score when turned off.
>>12890430Its an original stand up cab but with a high score kit installed.
>>12890461>with a high score kit installedcool!
>>12890490Some high score kits like the one for Frogger not only save your score after a power cycle but lets you add initials where the original just listed a score and rank(1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc).
>>12890982To add to my post this also means the Frogger episode of Seinfeld with George having his initials save for all those years was bullshit.
>>12890310The only alternative was to keep it on 24/7 and Im sure that ate into their energy bills.
>>12890310>So George Costanza couldn’t have held that Frogger record for a decade?Wouldn't have mattered if they never turned it off or not. Frogger arcade didn't let you put in initials.
>>12890461kek youre a terrible liar
All the time on Buck Hunter. My name is only three letters so I feel extra special.
>gets high score>inputs initials "FAG" or "ASS">cracks knucklesGaming has been had
>>12891268Well then anon.. I am sure that with your vast knowledge on the subject you could easily describe in detail which part is "lying" with evidence and that your not just a larping faggot. Take your time. I'll wait.
>>12891303>gets high score>inputs initials "FAG" or "ASS">Capcom game automatically changes it to CAP>your name is actually something like Frank Andrew Gull or Adam Samuel Smith
