>be 7 year old me>cannot for the life of me figure out how to get inside >give up, never play it again
For me it's Super Mario RPG word puzzle. After I gave up, I wrote down all the in-game hints and asked my mom and my teacher and none of them knew the answer either so that was that.I was still in early grade school I think at the time.
>>12889921There are two ways in. Did you not notice you had gadgets?
>>12889921you're supposed to use the grappling hook in your little cell phone if i remember right
>>12889921Lol I was around the same age and had the same issue, but i eventually figured it out. Later used my agent under fire disc to softmod my ps2
>>12891539>Later used my agent under fire disc to softmod my ps2Do you mean your Xbox?
>>12891547no, i did that with splinter cell lol. you can burn an exploit disc of agent under fire, open up the console, play up till the second mission (the first driving mission iirc) and hotswap discs then and install fmbc
>>12889921being under 10 and renting games without instruction manuals lead to some bad times. NES monopoly's auctions and Maniac Mansion's basement prison filtered me completely
>>12889921I beat this game when I was six. One of my favorite childhood games. I probably tried to get a look at that silhouette in the shower a hundred times. Very fun game, wish it had a PC port because aiming with a controller feels so wrong to me now.
>>12889921Now you understand why some games have retardedly easy "puzzles"
>>12889921>Times when you gave up.I couldn't do the infiltration part in Return to Castle Wolfenstein because I would always be found by the guards, no matter what I did; I crawled around, used the knife, savescummed but every time a guard from across the map would see me and turn the alarm.I was 23. I suck at stealth in games, even though I enjoyed Thief and Thief 2 because you can blackjack every character you're not supposed to kill.
>>12891918That's because it's possible to softlock yourself in that level. It's possible to get the final guard by the car alert WAY before you get to that point, in which case the mission is unwinnable but you're still playing. So if your savescumming is after the guard is alerted, youi're doomed to fail. You have to make sure nothing in the compound notices you and that includes before entering the compound itself. I think that even the alarm in the cabin in the mountains at the start of the level may actually make the level unwinnable, not sure. This level is a bit better in the console versions because at least it's divided in two maps so you only have to redo half the level if you fail at the compound.
>>12889934Same. I was around 10 I think, and an ESL. No way I was gonna get an answer, or find anyone IRL who could help me.
my mom bought a PC from QVC and had picrel bundled, could never get past the first level, gave up
During the starstone search in Terranigma.Found them all too except the one in the penguin village in Greenland.Only one unimportant NPC mentioned vaguely how to get it but atp i saw it as a waste of time to search all cities and ports again for info.
>>12889921Decades later and it's the exact same story with women, right? They're not called the formative years for nothing.
The rings from Superman 64. I was too young to figure out the controls and just flailed around and never got to the car part. Eventually my mom sold it at a garage sale because I gave up and never played it again. A few years ago I tried playing it again and the rings are easily the best part of the game. Everything else is a complete mess.
>>12889921This was a top tier 007 game, the MP was way better than GoldenEye.
>>12893245I tested the MP and as a kid and I thought it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I also loved exploring the maps. I never had friends though so I never got to enjoy it the way it was meant to be played.
