RS1 is a game I really enjoyed, a lot of people said it was this hardcore really difficult and obtuse game but I had a great time and never felt like I had to use a guide.I've since moved onto RS2 as it's the most popular and highly praised and I am getting filtered hard, trying to glimmer in battle takes forever, the generation mechanic is very confusing (the jist of it from what I have gathered is your stats from the previous generation pass down to the new one, rinse and repeat), I have no idea where to buy magic, where to go/what to do, it's all far more confusing than I could imagine. Any advise?
Are there english translations for all the SNES games, or are you playing the PC remakes?
>>12890867Playing the unfinished patch of the SNES version, it only translates the menus and names of characters.
>>12890869I wonder if I can get AI to help me do a translation ROM hack of this game.
>>12890891Couldn't you just use the 2017 remaster translation and put it onto the SNES rom? I'm surprised that hasn't been done. I would've opted for the remaster but the SNES version is just so gorgeous and the odd highly detailed backgrounds make the game look... weird.
>>12890839I dunno, have you tried the manual?https://gamemanual.midnightmeattrain.com/entry/%E3%83%AD%E3%83%9E%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B7%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0_%E3%82%B5%E3%83%BB%E3%82%AC2
>>12890901>I dunno, have you tried the manual?Of course, even using a gamefaqs guide (which I rarely do) and I am still confused. Maybe i'm just retarded but I do really want to get through this game, all its unique systems and mechanics are really something I haven't seen before (especially the generation system) and I don't want to get filtered because I'm not understanding anything.
I played the remake (the older one, not the new 3D one) and didn't have this much trouble, but it was too long ago for me to offer any advice and also I don't know whether the remake added any subtle tutorial-type elements that might have helped me. Maybe just be patient and keep messing around and exploring and trying things until you figure it out? I don't think you're far from figuring it out. You don't need to understand every little mechanical detail.>>12890869Oh... uh... maybe that is your problem?? Why would you expect to understand how to play a game that isn't in your language?
>>12890931>Oh... uh... maybe that is your problem?? Why would you expect to understand how to play a game that isn't in your language?Commands, menus, and the actual important things are translated so it isn't a language barrier. For things like getting glimmers more often I have no idea how to do, it seems like I need to grind for glimmers but grinding is counterintuitive and will get me fucked over.
>>12890935>Commands, menus, and the actual important things are translatedHow would you know what's important if you can't read the untranslated stuff? How do you even know that you need "glimmers" and that grinding will harm you if you don't understand the game? It seems like you're trying to play GameFAQs instead of playing an actual video game? How about you just grind anyway and see what actually happens.
>>12890935Grinding won't fuck you over that bad in RS2. But you don't need to grind for glimmers anyway, so why bother? Just fight naturally. As for how to get magic, where to go/what to do...guess what, that's all in dialog. The translation isn't all the important things after all.
>>12890939>>12891052fine fine i'm retarded i'll play the remaster>How about you just grind anyway and see what actually happens.grinding has always been a bore even in JRPGs that don't discourage it, I know it isn't bad but no JRPG truly requires grinding.
You don't buy magic individually, you need for your character to hit a MP threshold and then you have an option to build a magic facility. The more you use of an element, the more you'll unlock. You probably want to play it in English. RS2 guides you to where to go most of the time, especially with how you slowly unlock regions. It's obvious the language barrier is the thing that's stopping you the most.
>>12890839I just think it's really cool that it has the exact same visual style as Final Fantasy V.
