I am going to get my head bitten off if I post it anywhere else but here; but honestly console LoZ titles never really clicked with me. Sure they are all fun in the moment, but they don't have any lasting impression; I don't think about "what if" scenarios; or feel the need to recreate set pieces , they are just one and done. The handheld titles on the other hand had great spritework or unusual mechanics you don't see very often. Am I the odd man out or did anyone else feel this way?

Minish cap a shit
How can the same team behind the oracles kinos fuck up that badly?

What do you mean?

> feel the need to recreate set pieces
everyone always makes fanart/3D models of various fandoms, I never was moved enough to make anything from said franchise.

>"what if" scenarios
Folks make youtube videos about scenarios that could have happened, or theories

You do understand that the console Zelda titles started out as 2D sprite-based games?
>>
>>12891329
Zelda is just a baby game, you aren't supposed to like it if you're an adult
>>
>>12891329
It's not just you. The first one and Link's Awakening are the only two I've finished. It's not bad, but it's all super repetitive so every few years I'll try another, play for a while but always get bored long before finishing.

I am well aware, I played them. The sprite work was actually kinda shitty in Link to the Past compared to the GB ones.

Even as a kid/teen it never clicked like the other nintendo franchises.

Well people always suggest creating recreations for the portfolio, this series doesn't inspire me.

Replayed Minish Cap 2 years ago, the extreme linearity really soured my opinion on it, especially since I replayed it immediately after ALTTP. In ALTTP you explore, in MC you try to find the single rock/bush/whatever that can be moved to unlock the path to the next dungeon. And the upgrades and collectibles are all walled behind the kinstones (which are RNG drops), once you have enough, you give them out to the NPC's at the hub and other settlements, and then the game literally shows you where to go and what to do to get that heart container or whatever, completely robbing you of natural curiosity and will to explore.

Beautiful pixel art though, yes.

Is there a way to know who was the guy who made the pixel art in this game? I want to play more games that look like this

The thing with top-down 2D Zeldas is that they left the console before reaching maturity. There's only Zelda 1 & 3 on NES and SNES respectively. Zelda 1 is obviously very rough around the edges but IMO even ALttP is still sort of trying to find its groove gameplay-wise. There's just a ton of stuff thrown in there to see what sticks.
The dungeon design and overall gameplay of Link's Awakening feels a lot tighter and polished even if it's on a much weaker platform.

Flagship (and Dimps) worked on the Kirby games too

Because you're a cod and fornite baby instead.
Also don't make me post the Scott the Woz video

The oracle games aren't anything to write home with as well, they're all inferior versions of better games.
Fun fact: Capcom also ported ALttP to the GBA, making Minish Cap inferior

Fujibayashi fell for the four dungeons meme Aonuma Kickstarted.

Alttp is worse than LA and the Oracles though

Hot take: the only really good Zelda titles are Awakening and Ocarina of Time.

The NES Zelda has aged horribly, by which I mean, it was clearly never good.

SNES Zelda was merely okay. it's not a particularly fun game to play. dull to look at and dull to listen to.

Not everyone who is bored by Zelda is a young kid who only plays modern games. Every one is just a rehash of easy combat mixed with brainless "puzzles". Even as games in it's genre goes they're not that great.
>>

Nah, I despise shooters and I am not a zoomer or protozoomer (92-96). Mutiplayer online CoD as we know it (Modern warfare) came out while I was in college and Fortnite dawned long after college.

Truth be told I was more of a Legend of Mana/ Seiken Dentsu kinda guy. It had a overall better atmosphere in comparison.

>>12892087
bored isn't the word. It was fun in the moment, but looking back, it wasn't anything to write home about.
>>
>>12891678
ALttP is incredibly linear as well because you need X upgrade or item to do next dungeon or get to a part of the map that requires gloves, or hammer, hookshot, or upgraded gloves.
>>12892062
The thing about Majora's Mask and Minish Cap is that there is significant amount of pre-dungeon navigation and content. In Link to the Past and to a great extent Link's Awakening and the Oracle games you can just get to the dungeons in a very short amount of time if you have the prerequisite item needed. In Majora's Mask and Minish Cap you have to go through the pre-dungeon areas and do stuff that takes about the amount of time a dungeon would. So the games are still of similar length.
