This is in no way a serious Mario game. Is it even considered part of the canon? It gets more and more egregious that the Japs just lazily re-skinned an existing game because they know dumb goys wouldn't notice the difference anyway.
>>12892483It's a super fun game you are boring and stupid. who gives a shit about "cannon" you nerd.
>>12892483>Is it even considered part of the canon?half of the staple mario enemies are from this game
>>12892483It is the first game where Mario and Luigi aren’t just a palette swap.
It had way more influence on the series than Lost Levels did. Just look at how many enemies started with that game and how many games used the Grasslands, Desert , and Ice themes..
I was likeWhat happened And then it all made sense
Warning: This game is canon. Shiggy himself approves
>>12892483>This is in no way a serious Mario gameDuhWhy do you think it's called Mario Madness?
>>12892483>dokiWell no shit it isn't a serious Mario game.
is there any such thing as a serious mario game
>>12892519Yoshi's Safari cause mario uses a gun.
Is there even if mario lore for anything to be considered canon with mario? The games are not interconnected at all.
>>12892575based
>>12892502OP BTFO
>>12892585you missed a golden opportunity to post luigi
>>12892502fun fact: it was almost called mario seriousness but kojima overruled the team
>>12892483The characters are canon, but the gameplay barely is. The last 2D Mario game that acknowledged its gameplay was SMB3 GBA's e-Reader levels.
>>12892604smash bros peach can float
>>12892604Also, Wart is technically both a Mario AND Zelda villain.
>>12892607Oh yeah that's right, Peach has been able to float in a major platforming entry since... her own DS game?
>>12892608He's not a villain in LAAlso kino that he appears in dreams in both games
>>12892483>re-skinnedIt's heavily modified around some parts allegedly (there's videos on it, I never checked against the other game)
>>12892483>goystheir word for that is gaijin dumbass
>>12892634Yeah, you throw black people in DDP vs shells in SMB2U.
the jewpanese just won't stop scamming the goyjin
>>12892650Actually it was Nintendo of America who correctly called out SMB2J for being a lazy rehash and demanded something different for the western market.
I never liked SMB2, when I got all stars and played Lost Levels for the first time I felt robbed. I like Lost Levels more than SMB1 even.
>>12892657Also, SMB2US came out the same year as SMB3 did in Japan.
>>12892483it's always disappointed me that they never did another iteration of its gameplay
>>12892483>This is in no way a serious Mario game. You're right. It's better.
>>128926043D World is basically its sequel.
>>12892670Same here, SMB2J has more consistent challenge. SMB2U doesn't get good until the 6th world.
>>12892684And a great sequel at that. I'm surprised Nintendo didn't come out with a linear 3D Mario that was in the vein of his 2D entries years ago.
>>128926873D Land existed.
>>12892690I'm also well aware of 3D Land, but it still came out YEARS after 64. I love 64, but I'll have to admit it's a completely different genre of game than what Mario established in his 2D years.
>>12892691Well yeah. A time limit doesn’t lend itself well to open 3D exploration. 3D Land and World both have relatively short levels designed to keep the player constantly moving toward the end goal.
>>12892708An entirely fair point. DKC had no time limits either (from my knowledge) and was a lot closer to the collectathon lineage that SM64 would later popularize.
>>12892483>It gets more and more egregious that the Japs just lazily re-skinned an existing game because they know dumb goys wouldn't notice the difference anyway.Kinda hard to tell the difference when the original game was never released in America to begin with
>>12892716Yeah and Nintendo themselves removed that element from Wonder.
>>12892691I mean the Galaxy games are kinda all linear levels.
>>12892483Who cares?
>>12892723About time. Indie platformers have removed time limits since around Cave Story, so Nintendo needed to catch up sooner or later.
>>12892737what's up with the clock in smb games anywaythey aren't remotely close to a second. my college buddy called them "plumber seconds" cause he figures mario charges by the hour and wants to run the bill up
>>12892741I have no idea, SMB1's clock in particular is all kinds of coked up. Thankfully that game's been disassembled years ago, so the exact reason why is definitely known.
>>12892670The one we got was far far superior for most kids I think, but it would have been nice to receive both so that the minority who would have preferred "SMB 1 but harder" could have that. I know that's the one I'd rather play today
>>12892741The theory goes they just wanted a timer that ticked quickly for excitement or whatever but nobody actually knows but the devs. The SMB1 timer is 24 frames to a tick, so in NTSC exactly 0.4 seconds.
