third party support. gta was THE game to play at the time. (even more so than today)the gamecube was the only major gaming platform without gta on itcompletely mind boggling in hindsight. the modern equivalent would be to release a console today with no fortnite or minecraft.all the other "issues" of the console are completely secondary. it just lacked games. yes melee is fun but it was not the juggernaut it became with ultimate, it was a lot more niche than you would expect.
