>game is complete AIDS as Trevor (bullshit difficulty added to combat rentals)
>playing as other characters is gay and I don't want to do it
Worst Castlevania by far. So many shit sections. Everyone just uses the bat to skip half the game it's so shitty. Or they play the easier Japanese version as a cope.
>>
>>12906893
The entire game's design was balanced around a Trevor-only run being viable. If a normalfag like Mike Matei can do it, then so can (you), scrub.
>>
>>12906893
you write like you just took someone else's opinion of the game and never even played it yourself
>>
>>12906893
One of the toughest games I ever beat honestly. I'm not convinced it was worth it.
>>
>>12906901
That's 98% of /vr/ these days
>>
I've never beaten this game despite making 3-4 attempts over the years because I'm too autistic to change characters. I keep trying to do it with just Trevor but always get filtered by that level with the waterway and all the crows. It's funny because up to that point it's pure muscle memory for me, I can run the whole game from the start to there without even thinking. But I never figured that part out consistently kek.
>>
>>12907025
There's no shame in going on YouTube and watching how other people do it so that you can compare what you did and what they did to see what's causing game overs for you.
>>
>>12906893
This is a really bad post, OP. Why are you so bad at posting?

fuck you, fuck you you fucking fuck of a a game. Which japanese man who never knew the touch of a woman coded this?It is so cruel and uninviting. Oh, you thought that you could stand still? This game pushes on you like a fiber filled turd on a the bus. It's going and you're in misery the whole time. Here's 3 way cool supporting characters, PICK ONE. Sorry kids, you don't get all 3 of these cool ass fucking characters, it's more suffering through choice and pain and fucking ass shit fuck god damn. Fuck you, FUCK YOU GAME. Let Dracula win, fuck them European faggots.
>>
>>12907168
There are SO MANY games for you, anon. You don't need to have all the games. It's allowed for a few to be made primarily for competent players. They did give you a password system though, and you've got your savestates as well these days. You can make do.
>>
>>12906893
>bullshit difficulty added to combat rentals

Of course you have evidence to back that up?

This but the first Ninja Gaiden
>>
I was gifted this game when it came out, and then and in all the years since it has never occured to me to just play as Trevor... I do not understand why you would want to in a game with these other characters you are clearly intended to use

Because it's more challenging and it's fun to come up with creative ways to go through things that would be a breeze with other characters
>>
>>12907183
If only you addressed anything I said instead of just acting like I didn't beat the game. I clearly loved the game and you're too dumb to get that I was being flippant about bullshit in it. A game can be fun and still flawed and the game has some major flaws.
>>
>>12908074
>I clearly loved the game

No you didn't. You're a stupid idiot and as such you failed to express yourself well. And you didn't name any actual flaws in the game so there was nothing to address except for the flaw in you. The actual big flaw in it is what I named, which is the excessively generous continue system. THIS GAME IS TOO EASY, and it's like that because otherwise it might have failed commercially thanks to incompetent players, probably including you, and also unfortunately including me when I was a kid (I wouldn't have disliked the game back then if it had required a 1CC, but that would at least have stopped me from liking it all that much).
>>
>>12908271
Right, you blame me. I am solely responsible for this games commercial failure. Im sorry, I tried really hard to get people to buy it actually, I didn't complain about it, I was posting ads in the news paper and going door to door and I did everything I could, but I failed.

Do you not get humor? Like damn, sperging out something awful like a faggot.

The game is too hard btw, so confirmed you didn't play it. If you think this is easy, name a hard game. You probably are confusing this with another game or are having kind of other mental issues as I did mention flaws and you ignored that.

It suffers from the same issue Bloodlines did... making it worse for western audiences for no reason. So, same as Bloodlines, the solution is simple... play the JP original.

They had a very good reason, and that made it better for that audiance, see also >>12907217

Kirby's adventure is probably more your speed.

I just started this game yesterday, got the magic bitch and got to level 4 or 5. Is this game 1cc able? It seems like it's designed around using continues for each stage but I'm not sure. How long is it to clear the game without continues? The hardest part of the 1cc would be the endurance and platforming, and not picking up the wrong power ups. Seems once you pick up the blue orb you're good to go and can safely kill most enemies
>>
I really like this game, probably my favorite nes castlevania. The clock tower is awesome!

Crazy, there are actually people who deny the obvious truth (games were made harder in US due to rentals) despite the mountains of evidence proving this.

Meanwhile, here is another quote from the same dev.
Also even *if* Resident Evil did it for this reason, it's quite a leap of faith to claim everyone else did it for the same reason. See how everyone will claim US Contra Hard Corps is "the rental difficulty" or even that Contra with a life bar was "the original true version" >>12907217

Also, the implication people make these days when they make this claim is that it was something devs did that players didn't want; when the reality is that it's something players wanted, and there is a ton of evidence for that (starting with the devs and players quotes above that you decided to ignore)

The other implication is always "the Japanese version is the intended difficulty". They were both the intended difficulty, for different markets, one market in which players played action games the most so they'd naturally get good at them, and another market in which players played RPGs the most.
Of course these days the idea that the average player would actually want challenge in his game is completely alien, so instead of trying to understand that 30 years ago things were different (impossible!), they tell themselves all kind of things to pretend that the games were "objectively wrong" or something, starting with "they made it harder to fuck with the player on purpose" because obviously the entire industry would be making more money by doing the contrary of what players wanted, yep, that makes total sense.

>>12909140
It goes both ways though. They've certainly let japan play test games and then made them harder, easier or just different. It really varies greatly based on the company, team and game. I don't know what you're trying to prove by posting all this. Unless you've individually evaluated all Japan-US releases from like... 1982-2003, then it's just anecdotal.

and yet, on top of those devs and players quotes above, a shit ton of player comments, reviews and marketing material from the time period show this. Also, to remember how it was in the late 80's/early 90's while being the target audiance you'd have to at the VERY least be 40 years old and I doubt there are many posters older than that. Pic is just a sample, you literally just have to look at the back of NES boxes or open a magazine (any magazine) from the time period and you'll find examples.

>>12911109
>1982-2003
Starting from around mid 1996 it was less and less of a thing as the 5th gen rolled out. You can still find examples of that in the 5th gen but mostly for niche genres designed for hardcore gamers, vs it being the norm before.
>>
>>12911259
Yea but nintendo very famously made the mario games easier for the US. So what's your point? Are you actually suggesting the trend is a majority of games are made harder when brought to the US from japan? Cause you damn well know it varies game by game.

I never liked trevor as a kid. The other 3 are way more interesting. Now that Im older I appreciate him as weapon master, but truly the roster in this is great. I really wish other Castlevanias had such character options.
>>
>>12906893
downloaded the game two days ago and beat it yesterday. wasnt impressed. used the main guy for some segments, used the magic bitch for some. game wasnt hard. the legendary axe was way better in every way.

I felt the same when i finished ninja gaiden.

this but Ninja Gaiden II, stage 7 is bullshit
>>

I'm autistic and also enjoy playing Megaman with buster only when possible
>>
>>12906893
I played this game through October as a Halloween type of spirit playthrough. I beat it with the magic bitch. I never once used her only until I got to the 2nd form of the last boss when she obliterates the skulls with the blue balls spell. The Axe is superior and destroyed the 3rd form in 30 seconds.

Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 aren't that bad. Stages are short and you have infinite continues, and all bosses other than the final boss are easy. As long as you don't mind dying over and over, I think learning the stages is not that difficult. Only dying to the final boss is an issue since it sends you 3 levels back. Now Ninja Gaiden 3 US on the other hand... I still haven't beaten that one. Castlevania 3 is closer to NG3 than to 1 and 2 despite also having infinite continues somehow. Fuck this stage.
>>
>>12916846
i used blue balls for all three phases. phase 1 whenever he pops up you can blast him with blue balls. and phase 3 you just dodge the lasers and pray the balls hit his face
>>
>>12906893
Japanese version is better

American 3 is too hard. I "beat" it 4 times for the PSN trophies and even with the Anniversary Collection's savestates it pisses me off a lot, some levels or corridors are just so unfun it becomes a lot of "really?" and "ok (exasporated)"

but the aesthetics and music are truly some of the best on the system so enjoy it via the japanese version which has tons of translations by now, but also is even included in the aforementioned Anniversary Collection under the Japanese section. Also the music is better in the Japanese version. Americans got a botched version
>>
>>12917104
>Now Ninja Gaiden 3 US on the other hand... I still haven't beaten that one.
Use the 99 continue code. The game is okay up until the last level. I'd probably never have finished it if they didn't let you fight the boss in the 3 different forms one at a time if you die.
>>
>>12906893
why does moving as a slow moving man with a bitch ass whip that barely reaches anything feel so fuckin badass, I dont even pick other characters because they can never compare to whip man
>>
>>12919248
>>12918492
NG3 is easier than 1 and 2 even with limited continues. Because there is very little shit that spawns in your face that you don't have time to see come, it happens once in the entire game.

The only difference is that NG3 forces the player to get good against bosses, not that they are particularly hard.
