Just 2 games from 2001
>>
we back with this shitposting huh
>>
yeah 2001 was cool you had a wide variety of games. this is before everyone made games on the same engine.
>>
>>12908001
GTA III was planned for Dreamcast...
I hate this timeline.
The bad guys won
>>
>>12908001
left looks more fun
>>
>>12908012
The truke-pill is that GTA III was a chore, the fun started with GTA VC
>>
>>12908013
Both are unplayable compared to SA
Both are still much more fun than Sega's walking and talking simulator
>>
>>12908016
San Andreas has the best sandbox gameplay but some of the least fun story missions. Did anyone truly involve doing the turf war stuff?
>>
>>12908013
GTA III was an absolute game changer on par with Minecraft, Street Fighter II and Super Mario Bros. That said, Vice City feels like the game they wanted to make while they were making III.
>>
>>12908021
>truly involved

Oops, I meant did anyone truly find the turd war stuff engaging. There were lots of bullshit mandatory missions in SA and to this day I’ve never finished the main story.
>>
>>12908021
>>12908024
Turf war should have been the whole focus of the game actually, having territory to fight for and being able to recruit npcs to join you was cool and it sucks the story ruins it
>>
>>12908021
I thought the turf war stuff was fun. I don't think I'd care to see it in another GTA unless it was really fleshed out more, but it really matched the theme of the game's story.
>>
>>12908016
>Both are still much more fun than Sega's walking and talking simulator
When I first played Shenmue I realized it was based around getting to know the characters and simulating proper social abilities and I began to think that was the kind of game that would have influenced generations for good instead of blind senseless destruction (that was 99% of GTA's appeal).
It all gave excuses for future censorship and stereotyping of gaming in general.
>>
>>12908043
Shenmue is good as an autism simulator I guess. I’d imagine working as a forklift operator was engaging to young autismos.
>>
>>12908013
>GTA 3 a chore
>conveniently forgets the VC asset mission bullshit
Vice City was a glorified expansion pack for GTA 3 that was not only far worse but one of the first instances of a video game cashing in on nostalgia. The characters suck, the plot sucks, the fucking '80s suck and you suck too.
>>
>>12908043
>>12908048
You can go outside for a walk, talk to people and have shitty job in real life, you can't cause mayhem like in gta in real life.
Realism in games was always retarded and the anti-fun
>>
>>12908021
I thought the turf wars sucked until I captured all of the territories and beat the game and found myself with little else to do. I'm sure as hell not going to do the retarded trucking missions or hang out with my girlfriends or any of the other stupid bullshit they pumped that game full of.
>>
>>12908052
>Realism in games was always retarded and the anti-fun

Yep, it’s why I can’t get into RDR2. For fuck’s sake R* it’s time to drop your weird, overly convoluted control schemes. Pushing the analog stick all the way forward should make the character move at a jogging pace just like every other game. No more of this tapping A/X nonsense.
>>

2.89 MB GIF
>>12908052
I hate it when people argue that a game video or table top should be a certain way because it's more "realistic".
>>
>>12908062
True, and now they want to ruin gta6 with the whole "you can't carry all those weapons it's not realistic use the car!"
>>
>>12908062
>>12908067
RDR2 was better than every GTA, and GTA 6 will only be a better game by being more like it.

Also, RDR2 wasn't really a realistic game. I mean, you literally had a bullet time special ability.
>>
>>12908052
>You can go outside for a walk,
Why don't you?
>talk to people and have shitty job in real life,
In 80s Japan? With an evil martial arts world changing gizmo subplot?
>you can't cause mayhem like in gta in real life.
You live in USA, that's the joke about GTA
>Realism in games was always retarded and the anti-fun
Not really, it all depends on the type of game
>>
>>12908076
My main issue is with Rockstar’s stupid control scheme. Realism should never take priority over the game being enjoyable to play. No more button tapping to run.
>>
>>12908050
Videogames have always cashed in on nostalgia Anon since the very beginning
>>
>>12908082
I literally have no idea what you mean. I didn't have an issue with the controls. Also, can't you just remap the controls?
>>
>>12908050
>cashing in on nostalgia. The characters suck, the plot sucks, the fucking '80s suck and you suck too.
If you don't get why GTA VC had to take place in the 80s you are a brainlet nword
https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto:_London_1969
>>
>>12908083
Yes, the nostalgia for the 19th century game of Tennis spurred the development of video games, conveniently forgetting that the first video games were about shooting aliens in space.
>>
>>12908091
I mean your character should move at a jog when the analog stick is pushed all the way forward and sprint when the stick is pushed in like every other modern game.
>>
>>12908095
The 2D GTA games don't matter. GTA didn't come into it's own until the Houser brothers got ahold of it.
>>
>>12908096
>first video games were about shooting aliens in space.
Popular theme for fiction in the 1950s where those developers grew out
>>
>>12908101
You should play this new indie game: "The attack of the brainlet nwords"
I was using it to show complaining about nostalgia when 1969 and 1961 exist is retarded.
That said VC had to happen in the 80s for technical reasons, limiting technology and design within the world is important for the 6th generation.
>>
>>12908102
You mean that thing from the '50s that remained at the forefront of the cultural zeitgeist for over 40 years? That thing?

>that's the joke about GTA
No, that's the cope for turd worlders pretending their shit-hole is better than a satirical video game.
>>
>>12908112
Yes, thanks to people who was nostalgic for it.
INB4:
>But, but It's not nostalgia cashgrab unless I notice
There's a lot of things you don't notice, buddy
>>
>>12908001
Left has a larger world, more dynamic systems at play. Right has a denser world, but it is truncated by obnoxious loading zones and stifled player freedom.
>>
>>12908001
Yes, the one of the left is superior. Thank you for clarifying.
>>
>>12908001
Shenmue's Graphics look way better than GTA3.

>>12908009
Piracy Killed The Dreamcast, so yes the bad guys won. Although they will straight up deny it. They don't want to take blame for what they did to Sega.
>>
>>12908106
>That said VC had to happen in the 80s for technical reasons
Are you retarded? The game that proceeded it was contemporary at the time, GTA 3 taking place in 2001.
Hell, a giant anachronism occurs during the game with Tommy having a cell phone like it was common in the mid 1980s.
>>
>>12908140
>all of outer space sci fi is a result of nostalgia.
You are fucking retarded.
>>
>>12908143
Shenmue should allow you to attack any NPC you want and then I’d be more impressed. It gives the impression of an open environment but really you’re just moving through city street corridors with loading screen transitions.
>>

>No, that's the cope for turd worlders pretending their shit-hole is better than a satirical video game.
Ah, yeah, the very developed country of... (reads notes)...Philippines
>>
>>12908150
Hmm... let's see how many of those shootings are gang-related.
Let's also break it down by race.
>>
>>12908145
And it failed at showing us cars that didn't look like LEGO.
The phone if anything is a clue of it being originally not meant to happen during the 80s at all but it probably simplified models and plot holes everywhere.
>>
>>12908156
You don't get to exclude groups from your nation, you condemned South Africa for that.
You and George Floyd are the same: unitedstatians
>>
>>12908157
>cars that didn't look like LEGO.
if you think GTA 3 and Vice City are graphically different, you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>12908147
>all of outer space sci fi is a result of nostalgia.
Of course.
>>
>>12908159
Never asked for any cohort to be excluded, shitskin. Just wanted to see the proof that blacks are responsible for the most mass-shootings in the US.
>>
>>12908081
>why don't you
Stopped reading there, I go outside, sounds like you got no argument and already projecting
>>
>>12908160
>if you think GTA 3 and Vice City are graphically different, you're a fucking moron.
Are you blind?
https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/Bobcat_(3D_Universe)
>>
>>12908001
The one on the left was actually designed to be fun. No idea what they were thinking with the one on the right.
>>
>>12908143
Yes that's the joke, it has better graphics but is a glorified visual novel
>>
>>12908001
if graphics are so important why the fuck are you still playing 25 year old games anyway
>>
>>12908176
Why conveniently exclude blacks from the issue to tailor the argument into your favor? It's not an American issue, but a racial issue.
>>
>>12908185
Playing Shenmue today makes more sense, there's better nword behavior simulators than GTAIII out there but Shenmue is Shenmue
>>
>>12908192
Also couldn't expect a coherent argument from someone whose government took their guns away lmao. It's funny to see euroids argue for authoritarianism by seething at the fact Americans are still allowed to have guns, despite the brown problem.
>>
>>12908201
shenmue isn't fun, though. gta 3 is fun.
>>
>>12908205
>Also couldn't expect a coherent argument from someone whose government took their guns away lmao. It's funny to see euroids argue for authoritarianism by seething at the fact Americans are still allowed to have guns, despite the brown problem.
That doesn't happen in my country though.
>>
>>12908208
>shenmue isn't fun, though. gta 3 is fun.
You are right, I wish it had more combat like Yakuza.
GTA III is forgettable though
>>
>>12908210
>racial statistics aren't important in a multiracial country
which is why all of those paki rape gangs in england are categorized as being "asian" with no further explanation
>>
>>12908216
Those stats only serve you to have chuddy meltdowns in your basement fantasizing about doing something about it.
Nations don't need statistics to grow a pair.
>>
>>12908150
Hmm, interesting, now let's see Paul Allen's Homicide rates.
>>
>>12908229
The problem is most of your people actually likes this.
That's the whole problem.
>>
>>12908239
Yeah, we like being able to own firearms and defend ourselves from criminals and tyrants. That's a problem how, exactly?
>>
>>12908243
I meant living with disproportionate levels of crime by specific segments of your society.
Owning guns does nothing to it.
>>
>>12908245
How is it that Europe can live safer lives, and still have a lower purchasing power than the average hill billy American?
>>
>>12908001
>>
>>12908245
James Monroe set up a colony in Africa for them.
Abraham Lincoln wanted to send them back. He was assassinated by a radical.
It's a problem we brought upon ourselves long before any of us were ever born.
Owning firearms has a lot to do with the mitigation of it, however, it is a big problem.
Thankfully, it's largely a problem for large cities with gang presences. There are integrated blacks, so I'm not wholly racist against the race. Also, said gang violence is overstated and largely constricted to very poor urban areas, typically with poor police coverage. It's unethical to simply kill all black people, but they themselves are doing a very good job at eliminating each other given the current rate of gang violence.
>>
>>12908256
>How is it that Europe can live safer lives, and still have a lower purchasing power than the average hill billy American?
Dunno, I wish Europeans good luck though
>>
>>12908261
Blacks were well on their way towards integration until Lyndon B Johnson intervened and demolished them.
>>
>>12908264
Truth
>"We'll have these niggers voting democrat for the next 150 years" - Lyndon B. Johnson
>>
>>12908259
That many fucking people worked at Sega
>>
>>12908283
Shenmue was in development for the Saturn and then shifted to DC, it probably accumulated names over the years
>>
>>12908148
Nah. Doesn't fit Ryo's character to attack the innocent.

>>12908174
Visual novel? I get to beat up gangs, play arcade games, buy toy capsules, work, and so much more. It's more like a life simulator.
>>
>>12908325
Don’t care, give me the freedom to do what I want. Shenmue is fake open world, which sucks.
>>
>>12908334
False. Shenmue is an open world game. Not the violent terrorist kind you're used to.
>>
>>12908350
Nope, it isn’t. Shenmue is very walled off. You can’t fight unless you’re in a fighting segment, you can only control vehicles under specific circumstances. Fuck that shit.

Yes and the one on the left was addicting when I played it when I was 12 in 2001. Shenmue on the other hand was such a boring slog.

I can't imagine grinding all that time away in Shitmue and it's still a cliffhanger series to this day
>>
>>12908050
Dumb, seething, and WRONG
>>
>>12908147
You’re fucking retarded you stupid bitch. I can’t believe I wasted time following this retarded comment chain. Fuck you.
>>
>>12908001
Shenmue is a glorified corridor simulator, tho. GTA III, a open world simulator. GTA 3 definitely get the next-gen title and feel, while Shenmue don't.
>>
>>12908627
sega shitting the bed after DC was the best outcome because they are remembered as the quirky underdog company that got murdered by sony and didnt get the chance to enshittify in the 7th and especially 8th gens like everybody else
>>
>>12908817
I wish those japanegroes teamed with the fat computer person and the Chinese under a very simple premise.
>Real physical coming back
>Online with users in charge of infrastructure
>Absolutely no experimental shit, just build a PS2 type of console on roids and use the off the shelf attitude Microsoft had when building the original Xbox
They'll never do it though so I'm talking out of my ass.
>>
>>12908823
thats exactly what i mean. the fact that you associate sega with such a thing goes to show how dying with the DC completely salvaged their image. had they survived into the 7th gen they wouldve released some absolute turd with paid online that was slightly less powerful than the lindbergh and then whatever came after that wouldve been more of the same but even worse. its good that they died when they did
>>
>>12908647
NTA but I agree with the other anon. You are a fucking idiot and this butthurt response of yours only serves to make you look even dumber.

Maybe consider improving your grasp of the English language instead of throwing a tantrum next time.
>>
>>12908013
Bullshit, GTA 3 had much better missions than VC.
>>
SEGA was losing money since SEGA CD and 32x days. Saturn and Dreamcast were both giving them negative profits. From around 1995 or 1996 SEGA was going into negatives annualy and it lasted until 2003.
I don't think making GTA 3 exclusive for it would've helped, unless Sony wouldn't release PS2.
>>
>>12908817
>>12909810
None of that has anything to do with the fact that Piracy Killed The Dreamcast.

It was, 3 had an 80s radio station and the Scarface song (Push it to the Limit) was essentially the mental soundtrack to what they wanted to recreate.
>>
>>12908001
Not sure what the point of this thread is, since there are objectively far more than two games released in 2001.
>>
>>12908256
I don’t see the connection.
Many third-world countries are poorer than ours, yet they are safer than the USA.

I live in France, I have a job that pays the median wage (€2,000/month), an apartment near the French Riviera (€580/month), and a car.
I regularly go to the cinema, eat at McDonald’s, or dine at proper restaurants.
I own an Xbox Series X, and recently I bought Star Wars: Galactic Racer and the DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2. If I need to see a doctor, I have to pay €30 upfront, but I get reimbursed afterward.

So, sure, I don’t own a weapon and I do respect your right to self-defense (which, honestly, I think is better handled in your country than in Europe) but I’m 43 years old, and at no point have I ever found myself in a situation where I needed a weapon.

He was implying that the wildly popular killer app sandbox game is sparsely detailed while the unsuccessful walking simulator on a dead platform is heavily detailed.
