>We have Fallout at home

Yeah it's a good game.

I got to a point halfway through where all my characters had to cross a sewer or something and they all drowned. Good game but fuck redoing all that.
>>
>Baldur's Gate? No worries; we've already got something right here:

Damn, EA used to be kino.

How reliable are those 5" floppies like 50 years on? Do most of them made by reputable companies back in the day and stored appropriately still read/write?
>>

That was back when Trip Hawkins was still running the company before he left to create the 3DO

if stored correctly they're usually fine. i have c64 disks from '86 that still read fine.

yeah. now they're shit.

Commodore 1541 is an especially robust drive, you can open it up and flip the head back and shine it like a shoe. Anything inside that goes bad is easily fixed and the drives are still cheap. Disks are getting pricier now though. But they are still available in new and unopened boxes for not too much.

EA turned evil when they got rid of the platonic solids logo and switched to the EA logo.

Currently playing the remake, almost finished 20 hours in. Some things are really fucking obtuse (and the visibility of interactable trash piles and the like is vastly worse than the original it seem like) and by god there's so much fucking combat. With minor grinding included my party has 2500 kills already.

was. second version of it sure was. 1541-ii. easy to fix, easy to maintain and still work 40+ years later
>but they are still available in new and unopened boxes for not too much.
yeah. unused old stock is getting ridiculously hard/impossible to find. i'm thankful i have quite a few blank disks in storage. anyone making a new game for c64 these days that want a physical copy option to sell are best to go to cartridge. anyone can make them.
>EA turned evil when they got rid of the platonic solids logo
ahhh fond memories. you're right.

Damn, what drove Hawkins to commit suicide?

trip was wealthy at this time and thought 3do would be another success story like EA. throughout this entire period he was avoiding taxes on huge amounts of shares he was selling off and spending insane amounts of money he really didn't have in his business and personal life. if he saved at least a small portion of his original ea stock he'd be a billionaire but he went full retard with the money and irs spent years fucking him in the ass.
>>
>>12912781
Wasn't this one of the inspirations behind Fallout though?
>>
>>12915016
You could say that. They were made by the same company.
