I've been slowly replaying the series and frankly, I agree. I think none of the NES games are bad, but they're all a bit overrated, and MM2 despite being great on paper, somehow I didn't have as much fun as I had with MM1. Even though I recognize MM1 is the worse game objectively. Maybe because MM1 is shorter, and I can just randomly boot it and beat it if I feel like it without as much commitment. Now your pic related is not a real complaint, git gud

nigga MM2 takes me an hour to beat without even trying that hard, manwhile MM1 Wily stages are so fucking hard they extend the game by a whole 30 min to 1 hour just from dying and redoing the stage (unless you're a fucking coward who uses save states).

on difficult mode? I checked, took me 2:12 hours to beat MM2 last time I tried, but my memory made MM1 seem shorter than it is, as it took me 1:41. Not that different.

maybe it's just a case of me having played these games too much then. Because I have no trouble with either game's Wily stages. MM3 is the one that trips me up.
