Abyss Remastered SOON™
>>3968165there's been a new thread up for over a week anon. Keep up >>3962186
>>3968181>no 'Tales' in the OP>specifically about Graces>no discussion for 5 daysYeah, no.
Do you feel Tales has a lack of a coherent identity or picture of what the series even is anymore nowadays? Not that the series was ever identical from game to game, every installment always tried new stuff but for most of the series' history there was still a mostly-coherent view of what you were getting. That identity has been slowly chipped away at since 2008.
>>3968299Changing the series was essentially the mission statement of Arise's development.
>>3968299>Do you feel Tales has a lack of a coherent identity or picture of what the series even is anymore nowadays?Obviously.>That identity has been slowly chipped away at since 2008.That's a bit too early, I'd say 2011.
Sixth for Arche!
>>3968275Anon who started it here. I made it around the time Berseria was hitting its bump limit.
>>3968302>Changing the series was essentially the mission statement of Arise's developmentAnd long-standing fans both in the East and West hated it. Good job Bamco!
>>3968410Sex with Arche
>>3968299>Do you feel Tales has a lack of a coherent identity or picture of what the series even is anymore nowadays?I don't think it ever did even in the past.
>>3968165Sorey has such a boring design compared with the other two, what were they thinking?
>>3968514You can't tell me games like Phantasia/Destiny/Eternia or Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia don't share a clear design identity throughline between themselves.
Okay but hear me out...
>>3968551I mean, unless the games were all designed to be filled with boring cliches strung together to make something passing for plots, then yes
>>3968572But enough about Dragon Quest.
>>3968551So what's connected between Destiny 2/Rebirth/Graces/Hearts.
>>3968165I'm near the end of Innocence R and i'm still not ready to say goodbye to this party, they are very silly and i'm going to miss them.>Tfw no Ange gf
>>3968629It'd be Destiny 2/Rebirth/Destiny DC in gameplay and presentation style, then Tempest/Innocence/Hearts in squeezing the Tales formula out of the limited DS hardware. Graces stands alone alongside Legendia in a way, the former because it was the first 3D game Team Destiny made so we didn't get to see their evolution before the doomed merger, and the latter because it was Team MelFes' one and only shot at the franchise.
>>3968629
>>3968551Destiny PS1 only shares ToP's clunky combat. Otherwise, it's a Team Destiny designed game through and through, especially the remake.
>>3968629Lack of TP, way more experimenal systems (including awful crafting mechanics), worse writing.
>>3968520You missed the point. Cless is there because he’s the first one, the other two are for fujos
>>3968699They're all anniversary titles, Sorey is just from a shit game.
>>3968420You created it ten days ago when the previous thread was very much alive and active for another week+ and 93 normal posts.
>>3968683Almost. It should be Destiny DC > Hearts/Graces/Keroro RPGSouls most definitely don't flow into Arise either.>>3968693>Worse writingNo.
Destiny DC's crafting is incredibly straightforward since everything follows a linear tree. As for accessories, just stick to Red/Blue/Green/Yellow and assign them based on everyone's worst primary stat(s).I never bothered with the weapon special effect thing and for the stat bonuses, the good ones are obvious. There's like a billion combinations for accessory fusion but all you really need to know is the 4 or so combinations needed to make the good ones (or just google it). It could be worse.Dualizing is bothersome.
>>3968749The Souls thing was mostly a joke. Mostly.
>>3968165>Abyss Remastered SOON™Bamco knows it's their most requested game and an absolute classic overflowing with unfathomable SOUL so they're gonna wait until hell freezes over to announce its remaster.
>>3968767Abyss has a huge script it's probably taking a lot of time for them to go through everything and make sure it's compatible with diverse, inclusive, and equitable progress. You can't just republish these mid 00s video games on modern platforms willy-nilly. It would be like platforming Nazi propaganda.
>>3968410Never played that one, how's the PSP version?
>>3968790>>>/v/736835356>>>/v/737294145>>>/v/737295461

>>3968767>they bothered to use the in-universe alphabet to spell out how the shop sells weapons and armors even though chances are less than a thousand people over the last 20 years cared enough to translate the sign >you can see Magic Lenses and Holy Bottles on the shelves >you can see both the Mythril gear and joke Cutlery weapons on display, the former being unique to Keterburg and their description tying their creation to Akzeriuth where a town of miners is assumed to have also had great blacksmithsNghhh the care put into it... the originality... my heart... it can't take it...
>>3968665Now that the dust has settled, what the FUCK did Norma mean by this?

>>3969222>hottest party member>can approach the unicornArche bros, we lost...
>>3968840there was a time when video game devs really loved making video games
>>3968767Meanwhile, in Arise:
>>3969047I mean who wouldn’t want to be Norma’s husbandShe’s like the perfect woman
>>3968820>It’s probably shorter than graces / berseria’s script desu, though that wasn’t the point of your post (which was crying about “libtards” online I guess)Actually I'm pointing out the realities of remastering a 20 year old game for the modern audience. Do better.
>>3968165Once Abyss' remaster comes out I'll try to start an ultimate True 100% save for the game after my first casual playthrough on PC. Stuff like going into NG+ with all FS Chambers and C. Cores, doing an entire playthrough constantly switching Tutti around whenever a character's about to level up to unlock every single AD Skill then inherit those into the next playthrough so by the end they've all unlocked everything... inheriting skills alone costs 900 Grade, then whatever else with Cores + Chambers + what I'll want for that very last NG+ cycle like Titles, Artes, Cooking Ability etc. and culminating it with 10x Experience to reach Van at max 200 Level. Just a shame that while you can inherit FS Chambers there's a limit to how many total you can have. I want 50 Sunlight Chambers you fucks.
>>3969463Lazy design, they are making it since ff13 because they don't want to build cities with shops anymore but just two stalls or a guy going around.
>>3969250Sheena is still the hottest Tales of girl to this day.
>>3970146Which is funny because at the very least even XIII put some work into the presentation of the different futuristic shops. Arise just has minimalistic iPhone tier black menus.
Some redditor is reverse engineering Tales of Eternia Onlinehttps://www.reddit.com/r/tales/comments/1srkl7r/
Its amazing that for a game as old as Abyss, barely anyone says anything about which artes are worth blowing Sunlight Chambers on beyond the generic stuff like Guy's Dragon Tempest loops.
>>3971518just pick the ones you like to use? Duh
Life Bottle Productions should translate Tales of Fandom Vol.2

>>3972572Life Bottle releasing another patch is the only thing in that list that's going to happen.
Life Bottle should just translate ToD2 themselvss. Lumina is so garbage they said they would make a patch for ToDRDC with the narrative that Life Bottle's was not up their standands.

>tfw you realize the only reason we didn't already have Abyss on steam like 10 years ago is because of fucking NintendoDo they ever not ruin shit?
>>3972822
>>3972649The only thing they have updated on their website is the list of people working on Destiny DC. They are still going ahead with that and changed the programing team. They brought it an old romhacker from the Absolute Zero team as well as a geofront programer. There's a good chance that they are using the old code from absolute zero for DC. Honestly what i'm afraid at this point is that they're gonna wait for DC to be finished before releasing D2 because they don't want people to have to play Lifebottle's DC before their patch.
>>3972930>They are still going ahead with that...but why. Translated DC is already a thing.>they're gonna wait for DC to be finished before releasing D2 because they don't want people to have to play Lifebottle's DC...but why. What the hell's going on through their minds.
>>3972930>Honestly what i'm afraid at this point is that they're gonna wait for DC to be finished before releasing D2 because they don't want people to have to play Lifebottle's DC before their patch. That's dumb considering that D2 is the game that everyone cares about from them.Lumina Tales really should just post an official update of what their current status is. I'd prefer if they just came out and said that they're having issues or whatever instead of just replying in random reddit posts after enough people whine about it.
you dweebs do realize you can already play Destiny 2 with the menu patch and just read along with the translated script, right?or... you can just learn nipponeseor better yet, just play it for the gameplay and ignore the shitty story entirely
>>397282210 years ago you only had Zestiria and Symphonia's shitty PC port on Steam. An Abyss port was not even in the wildest dreams of the developers.
>>3973099Anyone that wanted to play ToD2 would have done so already. It still doesnt change the fact that an all in one translation patch is more useful than a menu patch + read the script online deal.
>>3973099Why are you even here.
>>3972994LuminaTales hates Lifebottle with a vengeance even tho they don't openly call them by name. They think that Lifebottle stole DC from them since the DC project started from a lumina's gbatemp post. The founder of the DC project started using the Russian group tools and showed progress, they refused his help and he made a discord. The rest is history. They often make comment like, I can't wait for people to play a real version of DC, or telling people to wait for their version on bluesky. Everything lifebottle release is considered slop by them. This is one of their close friend take on lifebottle:>Life Bottle is doing damage to Tales for clout, whether they mean to or not; they have permanently sacrificed Destiny's place in the culture, such as it is, to have been first, and I'm sorry that they have done that to Innocence to any extent, as happy as I am that you've done what I'm sure is all you can to make it as good as is in your powerFrom one LuminaTales member on bluesky:>a lot of work and editing off a bad translation is even worse than juststraight up retranslating, which i think the LB team claimed to do both atsome point?? but at the insane rate they work it's kind of. hmm.(also the prose from what I've seen loses the character voice a lot...)They basically don't understand the fact that Lifebottle is an organization that has 20-30 active members working on project concurrently. They're like 2-3 romhacking groups banded together. And since some task don't require to be there for a whole project like graphic editing these members can switch to a new project once they are done doing their work. Some project have part of them done for years before the main group efforts gets on it. One of the key difference as well that Lumina don't seem to grasp is that the main hobby of lifebottle is working on these games. They've been doing work on tales games every weekend for 5 years now. There's always something to work on always a new project.
Edna is so beautiful
>>3973265The ultimate "don't let perfect be the enemy of good" truth nuke. Destiny 2's translation has been in active development for at least half a decade and still there's no end in sight, meanwhile we finally got Rebirth after two decades and after Destiny remake, and in the future we can look forward to Radiant Mythology 2 and 3 or Narikiri Dungeon.
>>3973265It's pretty clear they are a bunch of jealous, talentless otaku. Life Bottle should just translate ToD2 and completely erase Lumina from existence.
>>3973265If Destiny DC and Rebirth's translations are "MTL" then fuck me, sign me on. Lumina have no idea what they're doing.
>>3973265>>3973504>>3973523It's not that Lumina Tales is incompetent or whatever because we do have actual video evidence of what they're capable of doing from the old livestream some years back. It just reminds me of Phantasian Productions deciding to do their own patch for ToP even though Absolute Zero had already done one of their own out of some sort of perfectionist streak or whatever. The overlap of actually competent and willing hackers in a fanbase like this is incredibly small and honestly, based on my experience with a variety of fanbases, patch beggars are some of the most annoying to deal with. However, all that's said and done, there are times where you need to just accept that you need help and that's pretty much their problem. Reading this old post from Straylize https://gbatemp.net/threads/possibility-of-tales-of-destiny-dc-english-patch.565070/post-9332268, you can tell that he subscribes to the "its out when I think its good enough" mantra and it doesn't seem like he gives a shit of someone else wants to start their own patch either. The fact that LBP hasn't started their own patch despite the "slowness" is pretty telling to me that for now, they either don't have enough people that want to form their own ToD2 group, or whatever Lumina is doing behind the scenes, is good enough for them to not bother.
>>3973732 Part 1The "they can do it if they want" facade is basically just a lie. They wrote that comment in january of 2021 when the DC project was barely getting started and they didn't even have the story extracted. From all we know she might have thought it would be a menu patch and nothing else and that the group would fizzle out. The amount of shade luminatales threw at lifebottle since they completed DC and other projects shows that if they took on D2 all hell would broke loose and they would go full ballistic. It's even more fucked up because luminatales actively thinks that they are getting bullied and stalked by lifebottle lol.Lifebottle hasn't done D2 yet because like everybody else they think it's right around the corner and starting a years long project when one is right around the corner is enough for them to just focus on other games. But in all honesty if they took on D2 after DC or InnoR it would've been finished by now for sure. But it might've not had all the programing work that LostTemplar their programmer did on it. That's the really impressive work on that project.
>>3973732 Part 2On the question of lifebottle speed it's quite simple really, they have a structured methodology that they carry over between each project, same repo structure same translator resources. They have a server for collaborative work on the assembly they need to do. They created tech for extracting text from audio file and have methods to get text from images for easy translation. Work on one game usually make it easier for the next for example Rm1,2,3 and twin brave all have the same file structures and file type. InnoR and Hearts R had the same file type. Rebirth and DC shared the same compression. TOPX was possible because the version of top IOS was compile with debug symbols so it fast forwarded that project. They created their own translation cat editor to be able to open their translation files. (and it's no secret all the scans of tales book we have now is thanks to them)The fact that lumina thinks it's a disorganized band of baboons is frankly pretty telling that they don't want to know or learn anything from them. Just blind hatred.
>>3973758>>3973759I'm grateful for the work that LBP has put out over the past 5 or so years, to the point that the Tales of fanbase is literally spoiled for choice. But you really have to understand that their speed is definitely rare among the fan translation sphere, even if you want to use the argument that the games share aspects of their backend. For example, SRWOGs got a fan translation back in December 2020 and no one has yet to release a translation of the signifiicantly shorter OGG that uses the same engine almost 6 years later. Its even worse if you're one of those poor souls that wait on Gideon to finish one of his translations lol.The only other fanbase that I knew of that had super fast fan translations were the Kiseki fanbase.I don't know why they won't just post an actual update of their current progress instead of replying to random reddit posts.I hope some retard doesn't interpret this as me trying to defend Lumina Tales or whatever. I already made my line in the sand in an earlier post. If you're having problems just admit it or else, don't get butthurt if someone decides to force the issue by doing their own patch
>>3973766I'm not surprised about the SRW romahcking scene because one of the top programmer is Kingcom, the old absolute zero programmer. That explains a lot. One of lifebottle programmer actually decided to move on to do SRW so we will see what comes of it. Honestly I think one of the greatest aspect of lifebottle is their abcde discord server. It's now the biggest tales discord server in the world with 8k members, even more than the talescord server linked to reddit. It's an open community of people working on tales mods and project not related to lifebottle. When somebody has a romhacking problem there's always someone to help. The aselia wiki mods and some contributor are also there and ae provided games resource to make the wiki better when they need something. A member is litteraly making new tales of symphonia models that works in game after reversing the whole code for 3d models.Lifebottle is actively contributing and investing in the community to try to make it as lively as possible and then on the other hand you have Lumina that shits on them lol. It's honestly unbelievable.
>>3973766>you really have to understand that their speed is definitely rare among the fan translation sphereI for one am glad we have one good thing going for us with how Bamco themselves are treating the IP.
How does atheism make sense in a world with magic?
>>3974055Magic in Destiny is lens-powered and harnessed via magitech machines, it doesn't really require religion to make sense. The world's religion is just a warping of historical events.
>>3973774About a month ago I came across a Life Bottle dev's post on r*ddit where he mentioned they had been tinkering with bringing Symphonia's Dolphin HD Texture Pack and GC 60fps to the PC version so we could finally have a definitive edition of the game. Here's hoping. Cute Arche.>>3974055Magic may not come from the gods but rather nature. In Destiny, "spells are the ability to use the power of lens to enact magical effects. Humans can learn to use spells on their own, but even those who cannot can use them through the power of Swordians, which collect arcane energy in their Lens Core Crystals".
>>3974055What does religion have to do with magic? You a retard anon?

>>3972649>"Muh honoraru translator group rules"God don't fucking remind me about that shit, it's one of the reasons SRW Alpha never got translated, because GOD FORBID someone steals Gideon's thunder
>>3973766>For example, SRWOGs got a fan translation back in December 2020 and no one has yet to release a translation of the signifiicantly shorter OGG that uses the same engine almost 6 years later. In fairness I think what happened there was after OGs was done the translation team was like "Ok that was...a lot of work, if we decide to do OGG, we need to take a break first" and just never followed up on it.
Destiny 2 never getting translated hurts so much more on a personal level for me because that was the first game I ever imported, I had no idea what the fuck what was going on but didn't care, I only know the broad strokes and cliff notes of the story, and so I've always wanted to see the full thing as kind of a linkage to that game from over 20 years ago.
>>3975190Guy also looks like a faggot so I'm not using him.

SEX WITH EDNA
I was playing Abyss and noticed for the first time a name hidden under the metal ramp leading from Tear's room to the selenia garden. You can't make it out in full but I believe it says Okumura, in plain English (not the in-universe Fonic language). The first letter is very clearly an O, so it discards other devs like Nakamura, Satoshi Nakamura or Takayuki Tsumura. I believe it might reference Daigo Okumura, a character designer for the game. I expected it to be the level designer for the area, not a character designer. According to the internet Okumura designed Ion, Mieu and the Six God-Generals sans Asch.
>>3976140Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Destiny both have an NPC that is a piano player named Sakuraba which is the same name as the sound designer of those games.
>>3976140>According to the internet Okumura designed Ion, Mieu and the Six God-Generals sans Asch. You can tell based on how the hair shine is painted (and the noses/faces) and the more dynamic poses for their official art compared to Fujishima. Ratatosk group, Magilou, Shigure, Yuna, etc. You can tell also based on the eyes.
>>3975774>Sovereign GaleI think you mean Thunder Lance to Thunder Lance FOF change. Jade and Guy are the only ones that can chain a melee arte to the same melee arte leading to a FOF change.
For me, it's Devil's Inferno into Swallow Fury > Shadow Fury
>>3976158No. I know about the Thunder Lance combo, I highlighted Sovereign Gale specifically because Splash > Mighty Deluge is useful for building up OVL and crowd control, on top of it being his other melee arte that gets used for placing FoFs.

Be honest, was Abyss really an 11/10, they knocked it out of the park, best game in the series classic, or is it just nostalgia because it was a slightly edgier game and we were teens like was the case with Vesperia before the DE came out?
>>3976251Abyss absolutely has problems, most of them mechanical. They gave us Free Run and then forgot to balance the combat around you now having Free Run and as a result even on Unknown it's easy as shit. Not only that, they made the boneheaded decision to tie in-battle movement speed to a stat, and THAT is the reason Guy is the strongest character because when that stat is maxed he is so fast that no enemy in the game is capable of hitting him. Early game Guy to Endgame Guy is like upgrading from a Dragonball character to a DBZ character. However in terms of storytelling, themes, suprisingly enough the acting in BOTH languages as against all odds the dub is fucking fantastic, the fact that it has little backtracking all things considered, etc., Abyss clearly had far more thought and care put into it than the vast majority of the series.
>>3976251The former.
>>3976251I played Abyss on the 3DS and Vesperia years before that. Abyss mogs it on so many levels, especially the art direction and world-building.
>>3976251It was until the 3rd act. Its so fucking dumb
>>3976251Abyss is the worst Team Symphonia game for both gameplay and story, and the Team Symphonia games are all worse than the Team Destiny games
>>3976251Like it’s not a bad game but anyone who sucks it off as the best thing ever is delusionalIt has very evident problems - especially on a replay - all of which affect the most important part of the game: the gameplayIf I was going to replay a team symphonia game at this point, it would be one of the other two - because Vesperia has substantially the best combat of the three and I could have fun with that, and Symphonia legitimately has a lot of replayability built in with how you can do events in different orders for big chunks of the game>>3976256>the fact that it has little backtracking all things considered>Laughs in traveling between Ion’s room in Daath Cathedral, Belkend Medical Lab, and the bottom of Yulia City like 5 times in a row multiple timesCome on don’t just make stuff up. It’s got substantially more backtracking that either of the other two Team Symphonia games. Sure it’s less than say Legendia and its second half, but criticizing Legendia’s gameplay is like kicking a corpse. >DubIn general the dubs are pretty great for all tales games. It’s one of the things they’ve managed to keep pretty consistent throughout the series.
>>3976251It's brutally overrated like every single Team Symphonia game, the combat's trash and the cast started the meme of having every single character outside of maybe Guy being a fucking asshole because it's supposedly cooler to have your party members being edgy retards with several unresolved issues and clear social problems, some people love that shit though which is why Berseria has its niche despite being just as abhorrent.Other than that it's hard carried by Tear's tits and people do want to hatefuck Anise no matter how much they deny it, it's an utterly mediocre game and I'll just echo what anon here>>3976322 says, unfortunately it's one of the gateways to the series so there's a lot of blatant apologism by the same people who will then turn around and try to nag on something like Symphonia 2 while being conveniently blind to how much worse Abyss is.

>>3976251My least liked and played of the three games, but it's still a solid game. Anons of either extreme of the conversations are best ignored if you ask me. It has its issues, but they aren't that bad. It also has some really good perks over other games.
>The game is about Yuri
>>3976329A game can still be pretty good if the gameplay is just serviceable. Sadly, if only the gameplay is fun, and nothing else, it might end up a mediocre game. Point in case: Rebirth, Destiny R DC, Vesperia, Graces F
>>3976427>Point in caseA mistake befitting the intelligence displayed in the rest of the post.
>>3976427“Game”play is much more important than any other factor in a gameCase in point - tetris.
The best Tales (for real this time) is coming to Switch.
Guess Eternia is the next remasterhttps://x.com/i/status/2049604903023100365Finally one worth a shit
>>3973719From what I remember, Destiny DC's initial pass was a community TL, so you had some real Japanese knowers contributing and then some people including MTL. They had an actual person that knew Japanese that went through the TL during the editing pass and TL checked though, which is why the game was still being worked on for like two years after the initial release. Pretty sure Rebirth was a Japanese speaker working entirely from scratch though.Their Phantasia X release just used one of the PS1 translations but they translated the new stuff, which is why it came so quickly. They also said their NDX release is going to be using one of the TL scripts that's out there.
>>3976256Everyone becomes incredibly fast when you seriously invest into speed. That's not the reason why Guy is OP.
>>3976427That sure is some shit taste.
>>3976427Ok I agree with Graces F because I have never since day 1 liked its party or story but the combat is great, but I genuinely think people who don't simply dislike but the story in characters in Destiny are outright BAD, are delusional.
>>3976528>dislike butbut think*, I meant>>3976487>From what I remember, Destiny DC's initial pass was a community TLIt was, they straight up outsourced it to like 1000 people and said "ok you translate these like 5 lines" and then compiled it all and reviewed everything to make sure it flowed well.
>>3976484Original high school amateur hour dub included or I riot
>>3976484Finally a game the Switch can run at 60fps
>>3976529It was completely retranslated. The only outsource part was the menu and npc and then these were redone by september of that year. It was refined slowly after that as well.Initial story script for stahn was from a dude named Ciel and the Leon scenario was from Lifebottle member Goodguy3.The inital project was before lifebottle existed, then the main creator of the DC project left and lifebottle got created out of that vaccum that's also when they started to change how things was getting done. All project after that were done without MTL but usually with a first draft from whatever people did online that made sense. With permission from the owner of course.Innocence R was all japanese speakers, Same for Rebirth. TopX was from Phantasian Productions and then the Rebirth and DC translators did the new stuff.NDX is also japanese speakers mostly the same people from the previous projects and some new blood in there to help out with npcs
>>3976484This would be like… the first port since Vesperia DC that’s actually good to have
>>3976543>>3976484Graces F is good, anon.
>>3976579And came out in 2012, seven years before Vesperia DC
>>3976543Graces F had a really strong port desu
>>3976581I know. But we had the remaster/port last year.
>>3976322Trying too hard. Of the "mainline" games, Destiny, Rebirth and Graces have the worst stories in the series along Zestiria.Abyss just has a shitty broken combat.
>>3976432Not for JRPGs. Some of the best games of the genre have dated gameplay. Case in point: FFVI, FFVII, Xenogears, FFT, FFIX, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. And yes, Abyss. Cope.>>3976429>>3976518>>3976528Cope harder.
>Rebirth's story is le badIt's okay to admit that you got filtered. Next you'll exaggerate the amount of backtracking that they do in Act 2.
>>3976592The correct argument here is that several of those games are *not* “the best games in the genre”
>>3976251What other games in the franchise, nevermind JRPGs in general, bothered to come up with as consistent and developed a world to feature a fucking calendar that is explained in detail plus its own alphabet. Like I often wonder *why* Abyss seems to stand out so hard in depth of presentation, like they tried extra hard for this one game because it was the 10th year anniversary and then never again.
>>3976344>having every single character outside of maybe Guy being a fucking assholeRepeating it doesn't make it true. The only person the group dislikes for good reason is Luke, and Tear quickly helps him to redeem himself after Akzeriuth and by the time you're gonna go get the Albiore to save the people still trapped in St. Binah even Jade and Anise realize he's genuinely trying to change. Tear has no problem with Jade, Guy, Natalia or Anise. And none of those characters have problems with each other at any point.
>>3976622Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
>>3976701Bro, even in the Tales of the World games outside of 2 which features short haired Luke every single Abyss character outside of Guy is incredibly abrasive towards everyone, not even old time Scamco believes the shit you write
what if phantasia is the last one to be remastered? do you think they're doing rereleases and remasters because they don't what the future brings for them? could the next game be the last?
what if they announce a Destiny 2 remaster before Lumina Tales releases their translationhow much butthurt would ensue
>>3976705>even in the Tales of the World gamesDamn, *even* Tales of the World?>outside of 2 which features short haired Luke every single Abyss character outside of GuyTotW1 only features Luke and Tear, established as being the same ones from Abyss having just teleported from Baticul at the beginning of the game and landing on this spinoff instead of Tataroo Valley. Haven't played TotW3 because of moonrunes but if it also features Act 1 Luke then it wouldn't surprise me to know he's as abrasive a brat as in the game itself.
what if they relaunch Luminaria as a console title this time. I don't even remember how far the game went.
>>3976721Wasn't Crestoria the one people said it had a good enough story and setting that it could've been a mainline game instead?>I don't remember how far Luminaria wentRelease: November 4, 2021End of Service: July 19, 2022
>>3976484Should've done that instead of giving fucking Berseria of all games the remastered treatment
>>3976251>was Abyss really an 11/10No game is perfect, you just gotta find one whose strengths far exceed its flaws and you can tell was a piece of art created with soul.>they knocked it out of the park, best game in the series classicI mean... yeah. It's wild what they accomplished with that game.>or is it just nostalgia because it was a slightly edgier game and we were teensThat wouldn't explain all the people that loved it when playing it for the first time years later (I first played it in 2013 and loved it from the get go), nor would it explain the same reaction to the game being felt both East and West, nor the fact games with 'edgier' narratives (Abyss' isn't even edgy) like Xillia 2 or Berseria don't get even half the praise half the time. This is a chicken and egg situation where some people like >>3976347 lose their shit over Abyss always being one of the top games discussed, but it tends to be that precisely because of the quality within and how details of it stand out franchise-wide. You've got things like >>3968767 or >>3976140 or >>3976696 or the war economy affecting in-game prices or Nam Cobanda Isle's autistic plethora of details including a fully playable recreation of the 1985 videogame Dragon Buster or committing unrepentantly to the betterment of Luke as a character even if they first bring him to such a low point it is genuinely a deal breaker to some players or the way they actually considered ludonarrative harmony in the explanation of fonons, fon slots, how they interact with the world, day to day applications of them which affect the story like a high concentration of fon slots leading to selenias or the Sorcerer Ring's upgrades or the lack of time to attune to civilians' slots being the reason Iemon and co. sacrifice for the party at Belkend, etc.Ultimately, there's a reason Abyss sticks out as a fan favorite so often.
>>3976696Most games don't really treat time as that important, so they leave it as an afterthought. Like we have no idea how long Collete's journey to the tower of Salvation takes. And the only instance where time is important in Vesperia is for Nordopolica when the group wants to go to the once a month visit of Bellus. But Abyss plot kinda needs accurate dates to show the insane accuracy of the score, so we get a calendar as a result.>AlphabetMany games have their own alphabet, but usually it's just the latin alphabet in a new paint.
>>3976723>Wasn't Crestoria the one people said it had a good enough story and setting that it could've been a mainline game instead?Correct. It was basically cancel culture but weaponized and the main team dealing with that shit. Misella was a fun meat-loving psycho (willing to kill Vicious and muttering about murder alot whenever Kanata's purity was involved).
>abyssfag replying to himself obviously to suck off his first rpgLol
>>3976009I really liked the way he used the bass in Abyss in tracks like The Frontier Fortress or Blue Royal Palace.
>>3976009Nah, it was after Hearts/Graces/Vesperia ish. Impatient Sword and Soma Link are some of the best battle themes in the franchise imo.
>>3976009Actually I would say the EXACT point Sakuraba stopped trying was DS2. There's a reason the O&S fight in DS1 is so memorable, it's the only track like it. Then he made half the boss tracks in 2 like that.
>>3976622They are, tho. It's pretty clear you're just jealous because you like shitty games saved only by the combat, like Destiny R, endgame Vesperia and Graces.
>>3977008Nta but what's wrong with Destiny's story? It's a JRPG plot from the 90s and feels like a JRPG plot from the 90s, it delivers pretty much exactly what you expect. What, no subversions of expectations, no deep twist about how "actually the villain has a point and therefore the heroes are the REAL villains?" that has been so overused it's become tiresome?
>>3976948Graces and Vesperia have a horrible OSTs. Mad Dance and Fury Sparks/On the Other Side of Mirage don't save them from that.
>>3976797>Destiny 2 ranked higher in battle systems than Xillia 1Look, Xillia's battle system has its problems but holy fuck when was the last time these people played ToD2? It has some of the most ass-backwards thought put into its mechanics of the entire series, there's a reason people tend to use a team of as many mages as possible plus a tank to protect them, because that's the easiest way to break through the retarded levels of superarmor the game gives enemies.
>>3977018I replayed Destiny 2 last year. Sure, some bosses incentivize magic spam, but that's why the whole cast has magic, and half of the cast has magic extensions. I still like it more than Xillia.
>>3977018Just raise your accuracy senpai.https://youtu.be/3JIMqM8mzWA
>>3977018>frontline protects the firepower in the back>the back's barrage breaks down the enemies' guard and allow the frontline to pick them offThis is the exact opposite of ass-backwards actually
>>3977063>nooooooooooo the melee characters have to be op and the mages have to be shit
>>3977008>schizopostsLol
>>3976484Color me surprised, I wasn't expecting this at all.Turns out they really are willig to remaster the older 2D games.>>3976543>This would be like… the first port since Xillia 1 that’s actually good to haveFtfy.
>>3977172Shared gangbang sex with Elize
I played destiny dc and rebirth and couldn't finish either. Got to the point in both where you beat the first "final" boss and just couldn't play the games anymore. It really bothered me how unless I had the game on autobattle the character I was playing as was getting gigamogged by every other character in the party doing rapid perfectly timed attacks.Felt like there wasn't really a point to playing the game at all. Is the rest of the series like this? I know the 3d games have a different philosophy or something. They usually seem like they have less soul though. Have my eyes on Abyss right now.
>>3977425I don't think Tales is for you. Maybe video games in general aren't for you.
>>3977426Come on man don't be like that. Tell me the other games aren't like what I described or that i'm playing the game wrong or something
>>3977428maybe if you sucked less you wouldn't get >gigamoggedgross why do you talk like a 13 year old mexican
>>3977428Letting a game play itself for you is definitely playing it wrong. This isn't an issue that will fix itself by switching to a different game, if you're not going to engage with the game you're playing you're not going to enjoy it.
>>3977432alright fuck you nigger>>3977434I'm saying that the way the gameplay happens with cpu controlled party members is that no matter how well I play the cpu party members do better than me. I'm trying to have a discussion on whether the gameplay in the other games in the series is any better in this regard and if the stories are worth the time for a playthrough.
>>3977444The CPU plays better than you because you suck at games. It's a skill issue.
>>3977444>whether the gameplay in the other games in the series is any better in this regardBetter how? Do you want your party members to be dumber? Do you want your controls to be dumbed down? Hold a button to autocombo? Maybe play Final Fantasy 15 instead.
>>3977449>>3977505thanks for aggressively misunderstanding what I'm trying to say and not engaging with what i'm trying to ask at all. Can't believe a bunch of argumentative faggots are watching this thread and nobody else.
>>3977543You can leave and that will change
Have you considered reading the tutorials and getting better at the time?
Oh yeah my wife is on the menu again.I hope they don't censore anything.
Cuddling with Farah after an intense sparring session (She kicked my ass)
>>3977505Funny thing is Tales of Legendia is the only game where you can hold the basic attack button and the character is just gonna 3hit combo until you release the button.
I feel like I have seen the same impossible minigame in Phantasia and Destiny too...
>>3977662Always pick a number such that your number + his number = 4. All you have to do after that is rig it so that the total is 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, etc on his turn.
>>3977425Rebirth is one of hardest and most different games in the series. The combat is NOTHING alike 99% of the series.
