I love this game so much it's unreal
Same but IWD2.
Same here anonWhat do you love about it the most?I love that it feels like an actual d&d campaign, also epic music and great visual design that helps to get immersed
>>3969756not op but imo 2e dnd is just better. the to hit rate is essentially fixed by level so the encounters cant be won by simply autoattacking with high bonuses. even spamming buffs isnt really enough on its own. also there is no hp bloat2e spells are more complex and enemy saves are strongeralso the controls are simply more responsive and readable. all the 3d games are a fucking mess
>>3969751I unironically like IWD2EE.
>>3969845Nothing to be unironic about, it's EE is great.
>>3969756To me it just feels really well paced. I played a lot of the other IE games when I was younger but only got to IWD1 recently, and I don't think I ever got bored or fed up with any single area. The moment I I started feeling done it was usually over, and the little interactions and stories in each area kept it interesting. Also agreed about the visuals and sound, just a really cozy experience all around.>>3969774I'm also a 2E appreciator. After having played a bunch of buildfag games in a row it was really nice to just be able to make my party and go. I find it much more fun focusing on solving individual encounters with what I have at hand rather than worrying about build planning.
>>3969886>To me it just feels really well paced.good pointthat's a benefit of having a linearly structured campaign compared to open world
>>3969756the funnest thing about IE games is creating a party of bad asses and levelling them up, and IWD just lets you do this, with just enough story to make the sequence of fights feel like an adventure. Party of four for the win: Paladin, Ranger / Cleric, Thief > Mage and Bard. Also, Dragon's Eye is an INCREDIBLE track, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjyaQGaUGsI&list=RDQjyaQGaUGsI&start_radio=1
>>3970035>Bardit's crazy how bard went from shit-tier in original version to a powerhouse literally carrying the party in complete edition
>>3969740Forgotten realms was running on all cylinders when this came out too
>>3969740Fuck all the dumb niggers that called it Diablofied downgrade of Baldur's Gate.
>>3974813Everyone I know who played BG when it came out also liked IWD.
>>3969756>helps to get immersedIf you want to get immersed you should find another genre of games! lmao imagine slogging through a Crpg like this for immersion, what a complete and worthless faggot.
>>3974820Not the guy you are replying to but i am just curious what games YOU think are immersive? RPGs or not just in general. I always look for more recommendations
>>3974820The “people” who are into RPGs but hate roleplaying are really fucking weird.
Tweaks Anthology allows you to change class and race combos (and things like human multiclass, etc), so I recently used a party that had a halfling paladin and a dwarf ranger-->druid.
>>3974880MetroKingdom Come Deliverance 1&2Red Dead 2Kenshi
>>3969740Currently playing Pillars of Eternity 2 after finishing 1. Looking to play this next. I dont know anything about it so please no spoilers but any must have mods?
>>3974891dnd 2e is good exactly because it restricts such race/class combinations.
>try to play IWD first time>start thinking up a bunch of cool character concepts to fill up a party>Take almost any opportunity to choose sub-classes like Evil Paladin, specialized mage, swashbuckler, cleric with a specific god, and a Shaman because I thought it'd be neat>give them all bows because I know how OP they are in Baldur's Gate.>first cave with the orcs>get absolutely destroyed.>power through for a couple hours until I can whittle them down.>"Yeah, maybe I don't want to go through that when it only gets harder from here">a month later>"Maybe I should try it again, I kind of miss the old RTWP gameplay of BG and PS:T.">This time, make a bog standard party of each of the classic archetypes (Fighter, Paladin, Mage, Thief, Ranger, Cleric)>No special gimmicks, just one multiclass >give three of them bows, three of them shields (one of which isn't wearing armor, and another one has pips in two-handed weapons)>Destroy the Orc cave without even reloading.>Just keep on going.>First time the party ever rests is in Kuldahar>no potions used, a few spells. Are sub-classes that bad, or are bows that nerfed?
>>3969740This and IWD2 are my favorite for Dawi runs.

>>3969740Plan to give it a try after Kotor 2
>>3969740The problem of this game it has to compete with BG and its mods
>>3975335It's a RTwP hack and slash using D&D 2nd editition rules (mostly) set in Icewind Dale, the far north of D&D's Faerun setting. Uses the Infinity Engine from Baldur's Gate 1&2. You create a party of up to 6 characters.
>>3969740I was a young kid when I played this. I got so hyped up with the cool portraits. I made six wizards of varying flavor. We did not survive the second encounter. Never touched it since lolI need to try this again sometime
>>3975361IWD really does have the top tier of cRPG portrait art.My fave run was a solo paladin through the main game plus all expansions. Taught me that the engine has a hard cap of level 50. “next level: -1 xp, godhood”
>>3975350What mods does BG have other than SCS and the NWN conversion? I'm trying to find more content to add but there is hardly anything. Last time I checked out Lava's mods, but he is so heavy handed with the leftist stuff. His Fyalvara mod is about avenging her FTM 'brother' and there's a twist that the villain was actually more supportive of 'his' transition, while Fyalvara blames herself for not noticing and using the dead name.
>>3975355oh fuck, an actual good answer. I didn't expect that. Thank you.
>>3975364Jesus Christ. Does he allow the MC to murder everyone in his mod at least?
>>3975369Yeah. Actually pretty good mods outside of that. Also forgot to mention that Fyalvara split up with her husband but they are still on good terms, since he's such a nice guy.

>>3975431>Why are you recommending it to us?im not, i just gave examples of big mods, i never even played it
>>3974820I find Icewind Dale immersive to play. The music, backgrounds and atmosphere contribute to the experience of an adventure. More so than some RPGs that explicitly focus on story.
>>3969756>I love that it feels like an actual d&d campaignLet me guess: You roll 90+ stats and give your characters multiple 18s in their primary attributes.
>>3975308Fragile Crpg cuck what a feminine little bitch you are. L
>>3975436>i never even played it/vrpg/ in a nutshellthanks for being honest
>>3975569its a infamous overhaul mod I gave u multiple sites to check with hundreds of mods, honestly my bad i shouldnt bother feeding information to someone with such low IQ they cant even use google to find basic information, it was clear you are a turbo nigger and should be ignored.
>>3975263Thank you> anyway since it's a GoG release you know what to doI do not tend to buy games that are old enough that the company that made them no longer exists or if they do, the people who made them long left... But i will say i have made exceptions in the past on Steam on super deep discounts solely to train the steam algorithm to know what i like and it works well. That said, I am aware I dont own anything on Steam so I back up, uhm, copies of games I """buy""" on Steam on my local server
>>3975618Couldn't be more obvious that BG doesn't have more than a handful of good mods. Not much of an advantage over IWD. Even staple mods like BG2's Unfinished Business can't be trusted to not amateurishly raise Minsc's attributes permanently and duplicate Boo.
>>3975335Baldur's Gate minus the boring stuff.
>>3977784>>3977785Looks like a fun time!
>nta>>3975494Would you (or anyone else) like to provide insight on what a 'balanced' stat total would be in an Infinity Engine game? What's fair to you? Because obviously DnD 2e has far different scaling issues than a system with pre-made point buys or standard arrays (3e and onwards)>Just play with the stats you roll you casual.I'd love a mode where you get a single roll of stats before you even choose a race or class, and then are forced to go from there and pick 'builds' to fit the stats instead of the other way around. That's how I played DnD as a kid before 3e was released. The only issue is that people would do the same thing as the current stat roller and reset a hundred times. As long as the player has any choice to reroll for 90s+, many will opt to do so. Kinda like how people sit and spam reforge on Terraria for BiS prefixes.
>>3975308>>3975285Play nice and love one another like brothers or else I'm going to tickle the both of you into submission. >=]
What's a good beginner class to play in these? I made the mistake of doing fighter and spellcaster in BG1 which meant I had the HP of a mage and no spells. I would just get one shot from everything and it was a real struggle to survive.
>>3969774dam son. solid points all across the board.
>>3977939I think re-rolling stats is ok, but moving points between rolls is where it becomes munchkin. So you roll six sets of 3d6 and then assign them to STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, and CHA as you see fit, but you can't add and subtract between the 3d6s.>>3978011IWD1 allows you to roll a party off up to 6 characters. So a 'standard' party would be a fighter, a cleric, wizard, and thief.
>>3969751i played through it 3 times. tried again recently, the UI was killing me. I dont know how I handled all the LOOT. not enough space. I always remember pretty sure I looted everything and would take it to a seller all the time. oh yea forgot i have 5 characters.. well. IDK. but yea the fucking atmosphere, music, game, story, the graphics/images was awesome. I remember hearing about it before it came out, forgettting about it when it came out. didnt hear about it until like 4 months later. Jumped and got it. Always loved D&D but never played it, only ijn the pretend dice real life game. But loved the RPG rules.
>>3978011full party of 61 fighter1 pure cleric (essential for heals/buffs and TU)1 dual-class fighter 1 or 3 to mage (dual classing is humans only)1 thief or fighter/thief multiclass1 more martial of your choicethe last slot is anything you personally want, I would recommend a bard, there is a [high level] song that gives strong regen and +2AC and having some extra buffing/CC/summoning spell slots is also nice, the song will be available around start of chapter 3 or something>few random tips- make martials specialize in different weapons, say one is axes one is swords- at levels 1-2 ignore 2H melee weapons, everyone who can carry a tower shield gets a tower shield- don't waste spellslots on direct damage spells before casters are lvl 5 at the very least, unless you really need fire/acid to deal with trolls of course
My problem with games like this is I have no idea which spells will be useful so I just grabbed two that sounded thematic.
>>3978081>plays the game with the most goated character portaits ever>imports AI slop of a Korean MMO elf instead
>>3978110None of the default portraits looked like me so I had to include one that resembled myself. I can't play an RPG if the character doesn't look like me.
>>3978081Crowd control spells are the best at low levels. Grease, sleep, web, command (cleric spell).
>>3978158How's the undead hunter in this one? Sounds good, but not very useful if the game doesn't have a lot of undead.
>>3978162Those kits are basically cheating. So to answer your question, yes, UH is good.
>>3978173Good, this is my first infinity engine game and I want to basically be cheating as I learn the ropes. What would you say would be the best fit for my last two slots? I've got my Fighter/Mage, Undead Huner, Cleric, and Thief. A Full caster? Maybe like a Bard or like a Druid?
>>3978011Warrior classes like fighter, paladin, ranger are easiest. It's good to have a couple spellcasters in your party so you can learn how they work. Priests like cleric and druid know all the spells they can cast, so you can get to know them better more easily.
>>3978185Ranger, paladin or FMC
>>3978223You'd still recommend another Paladin when I have an Undead Hunter? They're that good here?
>>3978225look manyou want a fighter, a cleric, a mage, a fighter/thief, and optionally a bard
>>3978251Alright, guess I'm ready then.
>>3978162There are plenty of undead throughout the game and it's expansions.
>>3978262Have fun!Btw in 2E, high WIS is only really necessary for divine casters, like cleric, druid, paladin. Your Bard needs high INT because he gets access to select arcane spells. Everyone benefits from high DEX.
>>3978282Get outta here with your tryhard nonsense.
>>3978282>high WIS is only really necessary for divine casters, like cleric, druid, paladinThe tooltip said something about wisdom governing reaction times and general awareness levels so figured it played a roll in stuff like perception checks and initiative rolls or some such.
>>3978323He was already going tryhard with his stats, they were just allocated unoptimally.>F/M with 18s in Str, Wis, Int, Cha, 19 in Dex, but low Con.

>>3981717>>3981755top kekGot me stressing for a bit. I stopped caring about faggot creators since I heard Bohemian Rhapsody.
>IWD2EEShit was kino, I don't give a damn who made it or who populated its fucking discord, the end result was great and better than anything Beamd*g ever produced.
>>3981587They did fine the BG1 companions are easy to ignore and dragonspear is cool outside of the tranny
Does it play the same as BG1? It's all based on the same edition of dnd right?
>>3981992I liked Neera and Dorn. Dorn is like that edgy character a thirteen year old trench coat wearing kid would make. Neera's wild mage shenanigans can be funny at times. Flipping people's gender mid-fight add insult to injury. I've yet to play with them on BG2 though.
>>3981993Vanilla IWD1 is similar to BG1, except you create a full custom party. There are no NPCs to recruit. IWD1EE incorporates lots of stuff from BG2, like weapon proficiencies and class kits.
>>3982211a slight correction anon>weapon proficienciesthose were always in 2e and both BG1 and IWD had those from day 1
>>3982640You are correct. I should have clarified that BG2/IWD1EE have different proficiencies from the vanilla versions of said games.
>>3982640I would assume that he means how BG1 used larger groups of weapons while BG2 broke them into more specific types. I haven’t played IWDEE, only the original, but I could see that IWDEE altered IWDs weapon proficiencies as a consequence of porting the game into the BG2 engine in the same way that BGEE did.
>>3982678>>3982681aye, that is correct
>>3969740>pure fully customizable party kinoMore CRPGs need to be like this, I couldn't care less about party members with their dumb drama or who are only liked for memes.
>>3982846I like them for making meme teams (I haven't tried 5 barbarian 1 cleric, I should do that) but devs love their self inserts a lot. I have a feeling it's gonna make a comeback with AI though. Imagine just setting up characters you made with personalities+backstories and the game generates replies and whatnot as you go through the game. Mite be neato.
>>3983086By the time ai comes around we could just ask an ai to make us an extra bg2, accurate to what we might expect, rather than trannyslop pushed by wotc, or just live in a matrixNiche games will be dead at that point. No one wjll probably even play normal games or go outside
>>3983143People need to do that immediately, sick of it. Pretty sure that Cormyr total conversion is 100% AI-created. Need good AI BG. The kind you train with real modules and boxed sets. Thick books of spells.
>>3983182its coming. ai can do basically everything else at this point. give it a few years. it'll definitely come before the next serviceable dnd gameI mean, look at solasta for example. pretty bad all around. bad ai. they gave each ai mage like, a SINGLE spell they could use because they're stupider than niggers and cant understand how to program. and yet it was the only dnd game ever that had flying enemies. it was serviceable. it was the first somewhat serviceable game in like 15 years.ai is definitely coming before the next good game
I for one welcome our future AI DM overlords.
>>3983319I can't wait to play AI mod where it generates party banter based on the character bios you wrote for each character.
Wanna do an insane / HoF run. I got a few party members down>cleric/ranger helf>dwarven defender>illusionist/thief >maybe a sorc I was also considering getting a sun soul monk just because never played with one before, even though most sweats would scream about how unoptimal it is. Or just have the four as is. What should I do?Also yes I'm playing EE cry about it
>>3985801I'd stay with your selected 4.
>>3975407I call that playing a BG2 mod. If you want to play Icewind Dale, go find the original.
>>3977784>missing out on 3 AC because you dumped dex>Missing out on at least +2 to hit and damage because you only went 15 STRJust had to go full tardmaxxing to pump that useless stat called Charisma eh? Not even required for the dwarf muftis nor does it do anything for those classes. It doesn't even affect shop prices until it's at 16 and even then it's only a 5% discount. Reaction really doesn't matter much in this game. If you really need it, just having one guy at 10 and then casting friends is more than enough.
>>3978081Wis is a dump stat. Does nothing for the fighter/mage. The wisdom scores for saves (the only save bonuses are for short races from con) are not implemented and the bonus spell slots are only for priest classes. 17 CON with an elf is more important to get +3 HP/level. If you really wanted to play a Knife eared multi-class, likely melee considering your retard weeb portrait and proficincies, it's best to go Half-Elf. You get nothing from 19 DEX since you hit the same -4 to AC at 18 DEX on top of that you can get a +4 hp/level bonus from 18 con instead of being capped at the +3 hp/level with only 17. On top of that it doesn't require a charisma score. Elf is for longbow fighter/mage. The best fighter/mage dual is the gnome since illusionist gives a bonus spell slot. However in IWD arguably Human fighter 9 dual into mage is superior if you're actually playing to within the original experience cap of 1,800,000 since you get full mage spellcasting at 14 levels of mage instead of 12. That is if skipping HoW and just playing the original game as it was designed. Also, it's kinda retared to cheat your rolls up like that and leave con at 12. Might as well have made everything 25 if you're going to cheat up your stats.
>>3986084You don't need to be so jealous of his rolls and sick-ass avatar, its unbecoming.
>>3986087IWD has the greatest portrait art in all of cRPGdom. Importing slop into it is a crime against humanity.
>>3969740never played it but making my own party and going on adventures sound fundo i have to minmax or does it allow you to be creative? pathfinder stomped me into the ground until i started dumping stats so i guess it's the same
>>3986272The game is pretty challenging, it assumes you've finished BG1 and understand how the infinity engine and AD&D work already, it also assumes you've built a balanced nuclear party. This isn't FF1 where you can roll a party of 4 WAR and somehow still make it work.
>>3986288>This isn't FF1 where you can roll a party of 4 WAR and somehow still make it work.
>>3986272see >>3978067 and you'll be finePSif you are completely new - you can and should reroll attributes until you are satisfied- attributes start giving meaningful bonuses at 15+, 8-14 is basically the same +0 shit, apart from STR for carry weight and INT for wizards- classes have a minimum attribute requirement- every class greatly benefits from high CON- hit points are rolled, but I think there is an option to have max HP at levelup- you have to turn on searching for traps on your thief- turn undead cleric ability is super useful, especially as clerics get stronger
>>3986272As others have said, you do need a good grasp of how the system works (especially spells), but I don't think it's so hard that you need to worry about min/maxing a party as long as you have the basics covered.
>>3986291If you want to prove me wrong and beat IW:D with a party entirely of fighters I am willing to let you try. I would gladly watch the full LP.
>>3986313Dude, what. This would be one of the easiest gaming challenges and I'm not being ironic. You'd have to forbid potions to make it even somewhat worthwhile.
>>3986317As I said I'd gladly watch your LP if you think you're up to the challenge.
>>3986293So far I've killed a wolf and some goblins which went well. My party is>human fighter - two-handed sword>human fighter - bastard sword and shield>dwarf cleric - mace and shield with remove fear, bless and cure wounds>elf ranger - 2x longsword and longbow>half elf thief - 2x daggers>human sorcerer - magic missiles and burning handsThink I have a chance?
>>3986328>human fighter - bastard sword and shieldSend him first, the two hander can attack from behind him afaik.>thief 2dYou'll never hit anything ever. Thief is needed for sa and traos>chanceYou play on very easy, the sorceror alone rocks.
>>3986328It's not that you don't stand a chance but that setup isn't very good. Your main damage is all bladed weapons which are bad against skeletons, slimes and golems. It's also too melee heavy which is a pain in the ass to manage. It's much simpler to have a fully decked out and buffed shield warrior with like -15 AC in the front. Do you really want a fucking thief blocking your warriors in corridors and taking hits? If you want some extra power you can take a single level as a fighter and then dual class to cleric/rogue/mage. There are no downsides to this from a gameplay perspective and these cheesy characters can put 5 points into weapon profs as they level up. It's seriously broken.
>>3986328meh it's okwhat's great with IWD is that you can get rid of a char that turns out too weak and replace him midgamepersonally I would never do a pure thief, always do fighter/thief for to-hit progression
>>3986372It's better to have a mid or weak team. Much more fun. Tried 3 red sonja on hard, but the first dungeon fucked me up.
>>3986293Pure thieves, druids, and mages don't. Iirc, you only need a 16 con for them.
>>3986370>and these cheesy characters can put 5 points into weapon profs as they level upfucking whatthats not a bug that the EE fixed or anything?big if true; it would give humans a reason to exist besides the typical OP duals and human-only classes
>>3986446Heh, check out "Enforce PnP Proficiency Rules on Dual-Classed Characters" in the Tweaks Anthology readme if you don't believe it. That said, a mage only gets a point every six levels.
>>3986446>thats not a bug that the EE fixed or anything?Beamdog EEs do not fix bugs. They add bugs.
>>3986087I don't really care about his rolls. I care about newfags these days just jump into a game without learning about how things work and distributing their points like a retard.
>>3986420that's trueI mean 15-16 is high, but you are correct
>>3985801Insane is a lot of fun, but HoF is a massive slog even if you go into it with a new game plus party. Enemies' HD and saves are so high that almost nothing affects them so it ends up as an unholy mix of summon spam and twinked out martials.>sun soul monkSun Soul monk is okay in this game, especially with the exp gain on Insane letting them come online faster. Vanilla monk is still better, but a lot more stuff is vulnerable to fire compared to BG2 and I found Sun Soulray to be consistently useful as an anti-caster attack or emergency ranged chip.>>3986272It's very open to creativity IF you understand how everything works already. If you're going in blindly you'll want to try to cover your bases.
>>3986469ah damnI installed that a couple years ago and I have no idea what I selected for that option

>>3986774>a good pic butchered with AIshame
>>3986783oh shut the fuck up
>>3986469It doesnt even really fully implement pnp rules anyway. For example humans can dual class into 5 or 6 classes in pnp making them indisputably the best raceOr weapon proficienies were broader in pnp and warriors could basically use every weaponI dont think these minor rule variations matter much. The only thing that boyhers me is proficiencies since its arbitrary and doesnt add much it just defines shit you cant do

>>3986905good geometrical and tone balance, framing and directing the viewer towards the centerpiece using guidelines for the eye to travel along, tones, contrast, and even different level of detail so the viewer ignores what's not importantevocative, recognizable, has character, or as some would say, SOVLit's great, I can't stop looking at it >>3986774this looses all that and adds a yellow hue, a pornobimbo-face doll, and a needless details in the background that haven't even figured out what it wants to be, a mosaic-like stipple-painting or a realistic detailed paintingovercrowded with detailunder-contrasted centerpieceit's just not pleasant to look at
>>3986986kek you are literary pic rel
>>3986905Yes, I'm glad you finally understand.
>>3986996>literaryYou should Google what that word means you wanted to use another wordAlso I have no idea why you are so assblasted you prompted to existence a piece of shit pic that is not only instantly recognizable as slop but is actually shittyYou are taking this way too personal
>>3986905AI fags are the modern equivalent to bronies
>>3987206Completely false. When bronies were a big thing, I rarely ever saw one causing any sort of trouble, the most I would ever see would be some guy with an MLP avatar. These AI bros are more like cockroaches that refuse to go away no matter how clean your house is and how many traps you put down.
>>3987180>post a simple upscaled image >retards chimp out But I am the one taking it personally, lmao
>>3987282You're right, I'm sorry. Horsefags didn't deserve that comparison.
the best IWD party is >dwarf fighter, axes, then hammers>halfling fighter/thief, longbows, longswords>cleric (I guess human fighter 1/cleric x, in light of new info for me)>elf magenot even a bardyou'll have little trouble with the whole gameonly the verbeeg temple and lvl 4 of the dragons eye will be a little challengingby the time you beat belhifet and start heart of winter, your cleric will be chunking undead with turning
>>3986478>I care about newfags these days just jump into a game without learning about how things work and distributing their points like a retard. So you're saying before even playing the game, new players should look up a guide to tell them how to minmax their character builds.
>>3987443>hammersObjectively better damage type.
>>3969740I vaguely recall creating an evil party of drow and fucking everything up that moves.
>>3987444I'm saying they should read the game manual as intended by the developers and get a sense of what rules are and are not implemented. Black Isle studio and old Bioware when making these games intended for the players to already have knowledge of AD&D 1e and 2e or having read the manuals.
>>3987549You can't create a drow in IWD1, only 2.
>>3987495doesnt mattertheres two guaranteed axes that are just too good, one gives +2 AC, the other is throwing and returning
>>3969740I like how this story just randomly takes place 120 years before 3e present for seemingly no reason. Im not being sarcastic, I actually like that. I just dont see why they did that, exactly. Its kinda weird; IWD the region is popular because of the drizzt novels (it was actually created by the author for his books), yet drizzt wont be born for another like 30 years or something.
>>3988913According to the FR wiki,IWD1 is in 1281 DRIWD2 is in 1312 DRThe Crystal Shard takes place in 1351 to 1356BG2 is in 1369 DR
>>3989038okayit says drizzt was born in 1297, so 16 years before he was born
>>3987206Bronies alone have millions if not billions of inspired works of art under their belt, not to mention some of that community's music made multiple musicians into household names in geek circles. I've been to clubs and concerts where the entire crowd sang along to pre-show fandom tracks. Plus the people who were inspired by them to pick up art, music, development, and any number of other things.Hate the subject matter, but it was genuine and had deep soul in the context of their fandom. AI slop will never compare. Ever. Better to be a faggot than a fucking clank.
>>3987593>You can't create a drow in IWD1Wrong. You can if you want.
>>3987443>the best IWD party is>F/M/C>F/M/C>F/M/C>F/M/C>F/M/C>F/M/TFTFY
>>3991795>Wrong. You can if you want.Tell me you're a zoomer who only played the "enhanced" edition without telling me you're a zoomer who only played the "enhanced" edition
>>3991797Triple classes are for cheesing the game by soloing. They’re fucking awful in a full party because you will be insanely underleveled and useless.
>>39697404chan tricked me into thinking BG 1 and 2 were good, don't be like me.
>>3991987Sorry about your lack of taste, anon.
>>3974820>How dare you like RPG games
>>3991820They're not even that good for soloing because they level as slowly as a single-class in a three person party but with a third of the total actions per round, and a lot of the time your mage subclass isn't going to be pulling its weight due to scroll availability.
>>3992100My favorite solo run was a paladin. Found out the engine had a hard level cap of 50 that way. “next level in -1 XP: godhood”
>>3991795You cannot create a drow in either the original Icewind Dale nor the """enhanced""" edition. It's not until IWD2 that you could create a drow.
>>3969740How does it compare to Baldude Gay and Planetescape Tournament?
>>3992742It plays like a total conversion mod for Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 where the DM is mostly into dungeon crawling. If you like the part of BG2 where you go off to various dungeons and raid them for loot, it's pretty much a whole game of that. The thing that turns most people off is that you have to make your whole party yourself instead of having NPCs join that comment on things. Also it's pretty hard. The level range is kino - it starts at 1 and ends around level 13-15ish on Core, just when combat is starting to become retarded.
How do I stop fighter dualing to mage
>>3992749Dump INT
>>3992745>The thing that turns most people off is that you have to make your whole party yourself instead of having NPCs join that comment on thingsGrim.
>>3992749Dual to cleric.
>>3992749Roll a dwarf.
Is wizard mandatory in IWD2EE? Is there a bunch of that breach bullshit like in BG2? I dont think there should be since its based more on 3eI started a full northerner larp party with martials + cleric + bard(skald), should be fine right
>>3993368It's not a bad as insane+SCS, but mid to late game mage battles are quite tedious in regards to removing protection from mages and clerics and disabling everything. Also, they nerfed the fuck out of Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, I had to use Near Infinity to make it less severe.
>>3993513However, a paladin with Cera Sumat and using the spell Duel can dispel and beat a mage to death, which is a lot of fun.
>>3993513what protections do mages use? do they have sequencer and sphere of immunity etc?this is the one thing that would actually get me to install the mod. every time I have tried so far somethig breaks, eitehr scripting or it just wont launch. and on top of it they added retarded shit like damage reduction for no reason
>>3993533>a paladin with Cera Sumat and using the spell Duel can dispel and beat a mage to deathOh yeah’s it’s gaming time
>>3975407>BlackguardBeamdog addition I'm guessingalso, the Undead Hunter kit would absolutely BTFO the entire IWD campaign
>>3970872lmao you're the butt of a cruel boomer jokethe bard was created back in 1e to trick little brothers and little sisters and super nerdy friends into playing a dumb bad gay annoying character everyone else would make fun oflike if your little brother said "I wanna play" and your mom made you let him, you would get him to play a bard and just have everyone else in the party constantly call him gay and useless and then during the first battle while he's playing his gay flute he gets killed and you have an excuse to kick him out since his character diedso anyone falling for the bard meme is a retard AND a faggot, it's still the most diabolical prank of all time, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>3993549Paladin of Mystara 12/Sorc X is insanely fun. At Pala 12, gets full armored arcana feats for free and then cast arcane spells without fear of failure in heavy armor, plus gets limited cleric spells and specials like smite evil, play on hands, and divine shield.
>>3993662>True Strike + Improved Hasteso good
>>3993662also if you find all the gear that increases magic damage (and pick all the feats that do so), the AoE smite evil from 5th level pally spells can delete entire encounters
>>3993884Thats retarded. What kind of retarded nigger adds shit like this to a mod
>>3993994chill out, it's an epic level ability
>>3993662>At Pala 12, gets full armored arcana feats for free and then cast arcane spells without fear of failure in heavy armorFake and gay. Imagine sullying your paladin with d*ps
>>3992745>The thing that turns most people off is that you have to make your whole party yourself instead of having NPCs join that comment on thingsUh what.. that's the best part of IWD along with the beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds (which are much superior to Baldur's Gate)
>>3994073To you and me, yes. Not to normalfags.
>>3994289NTA. Normalfags weren’t playing cRPGs in the late 90s. Everyone I know who played IWD when it came out knew what they were getting into and liked the game.
>>3993541Yes, both sequences and contingencies are used in 2EE. Another fun way to delete mages is thief built around sneak attack and hamstring. As long as it's not a cuisine, your thief can gib unaware mages and clerics from stealth. If you have speed items, invisible pot, or sactuary pots, then run and do it again. Wait for protections to wear off if necessary. Rogue with boots of speed (or similar) and spinesheath can do 90+ damage to an unaware, unprotected magic user. Use hamstring on non-mages to slow them down and then kite them to death with more sneak attacks. Sneak attack also applies in combat against enemies that are engaged with your tanks, you don't even need to be in stealth mode then.
>>3994681>cuisinecutscene*, damn phone posting!
>>3969845Is there something wrong with the 2 EE mod?
>>3994685It’s full of retarded bloat, added homebrew bullshit, busted magical items added by the devs, etc. and we have had threads on it with multiple anons who are unable to distinguish between the original games and content added by the mod.
>>3994687That's a shame, I haven't played 2 yet but was planning on it sooner than later using EE.
>>3994692I played and finished vanilla IWD2 couple years ago, was fun. Paladin/cleric/bard/wizard. IWD2 was actually my Infinity Engine white whale, played all these games when they came out and IWD2 was the only one I never finished back in the day. Furthest I'd gotten was the duergar outpost cave shit.
>>3994692Play vanilla 2 a few times first. I'd give 2EE at least a try, but if you don't like it, uninstall. It does increase the difficulty quite a bit if you install all the mod options.
>>3994701Forgot to add that I had a lot of difficulty getting vanilla 2 to run properly on my W10 machine. Even with ddraw fix, the edge of the fog of war was blocky, instead of smooth. EE core component fixes this and adds widescreen support. It also adds a loot panel button.
Yxunomei filters me every time. I can steam roll everything before and after her. I just keep fucking in up somehow
>>3994716If you're playing the EE you can spam the Flame Arrow charges from the Summoner's Staff to kill her for free. It doesn't have the usual 1 per round casting limitation and ignores magic resist so she goes down pretty easily even if she saves. The vanilla strategy is to spam summons from it instead.
>>3994797>The vanilla strategy is to spam summons from it instead.I beat Yxunomei by hitting her in the face with a sword #justpaladinthings
