Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon was The last one released that I know of that is moderately sized and not a complete joke.

(I really hope some retarded publisher doesn't end up buying them out and forcing them to make a higher budget, gayer, elder scrolls-type game though. The steady sales and way so many publishers/devs seem to fear to fund them or completely fail at games like this has to have had corporate Jews taking notice.)

The genuine FPP RPGs (not blobbers) are flawed, the very concept of it is wrong. Mixing the FPS mechanics with abstract rules of the RPG system never works well.

Yeah, I just wouldn't go into it expecting Skyrim or Dark Souls, or whatever clickbait influencers are trying to label it as, and just enjoy it for what it is. It has things in common with both and it is impressive what they accomplished, but it's clearly not AAA.
They seem to put out patches and stuff every few weeks, with no sign of slowing down, so who knows how big the game will get or how polished they can get everything by the time they stop though.

it's such a shame that the writers couldn't really diversify the way they write quests so it feels really painful at the end. they love mysterious faux profound characters.but it's an undersaturated genre so I still enjoyed it. the aesthetic in act 3 is also way weaker.

Anon, I… that’s exactly what fo3 did. It’s just that FO3 used the same janky engine they’ve used since Morrowind while Deus Ex used Unreal, a proper shooter engine.

yes, Resident Evil is a survivor action-RPG. it's not first-person though, unless opening doors count. or the NDS remake where you got parts where you slash zombies with a knife in first-person view.

I liked FO3/NV/Skyrim, but the best I've played are Deus Ex and Prey 2017. They're just more interesting than standard games.
System Shock 2 was also really good. I still need to play the original SS, Underworld, and some older games (like Krynn I think has dungeon crawling). Wizardy, Might & Magic, Eye of the Beholder etc. don't interest me so much.

it's "THE Legacy: Realm of Terror". basically another Cthulu /Elder gods kinda horror game.

hmmm it's on GOG n steam now. but you probably should just emulate it yourself. because GOG always seems to screw up their DosBox settings more often than not, and hide the files in an ISO "game" file now, or some weird tinkering to make DosBox work with their Galaxy client.

If you guys haven't played Ultima Underworld, I highly recommend. There was a unity port that some oldfag just released after 10 years in development. Use a guide if you do end up playing, there are quite a few ways to get hard locked from completing it.

Id Software programmer John Carmack has stated that the engine for Wolfenstein 3D was inspired by a technology demo of Ultima Underworld. but both games were released in same year, 1992.
and Carmack did make Catacombs-3D so that might not count.
