Arguably the best PS2 JRPG.
G.U. was way better.
>>3986941It was a slog and would be a hard recommend but I will recommend it every time.
FF10 was the best, sorry.
>>3986941Bro try playing it blind instead of watching a let’s playFaggotino
>>3986941>ArguablyThen do so.
>1 game split into 4 apropos of nothingIt's really not great BlackRose a cute tho
>>3986941Minstrel Song is the best PS2 JRPG.
>>3987034This
for my money, it’s vp2
>>3986941love dothack, personally would say maybe P3FES or Tales of the abyss.
imagine if the parts took as long as FF7 remake to release. I guess it wouldn't be that bad spanning the "RPGs are DEAD" era.
Arguably the worst you mean
>>3986941No. Objectively the biggest scam on the PS2.
>>3986941It's not even the best .hack game.
>Still no PC release>But the GU games got themfuck them retards
>>3986941Dot Hack Tetrology is the exact kind of game where I'd love all the town NPCs played by various AI hallucinations.
>>3986941I tried this for a few hours and while I found it and the MMO setting charming, it wasn't really able to keep my interest. You're really saying this is better than the likes of FFX? Does it get better after a certain point or something?
>>3993463fake post - just the faggot who made the thread bumping it
>>3993465No, I'm actually curious. I have roms of it and the sequel downloaded and I'm curious if it's actually worth playing.
>>3986941I used to be a big .hack fan. Read the novels, watched the anime, played the games, watched the OVAs. It worked great as a multimedia package at the time. Each piece of media worked as a fragment (pun intended) of an overarching narrative. These days that approach is fairly common albeit, unlike .hack, most times satelite media are merely cashgrabs and filler shit (to be fair .hack also had some of those like DUSK, Link and the like). The games presented some interesting mechanics like the data drain infection side effects and plenty of fanservice for anyone invested in the whole project. Secret areas with secret weapons, data ghosts and the like. It was pretty well thought off and it could be challenging if one ventured to areas several levels above the player level to aggro some mobs. In that sense it was far more challenging than G.U. whose battles were more isolated and manageable. All that said the original games could be kind of obtuse with no quick access to skills and other stuff like that that became unacceptable after KH came out.

>>3986941I binged IMOQ and GU after the Zero announcement. It's not even close to being the best JRPG on the PS2 but I enjoyed my time with the games.
>>3993466Not him but I stopped playing after the first game because I had figured out all of the optional content was really just the illusion of content. You have all these different party members who are barely different (the ones of the same class aren't different at all) and a bunch of optional dungeons there's no point in doing because you only ever get the same gear rewards.
>>3986941Is this just a "Dude, trust me" situation?I mean like, y'all aren't really selling it if all I have to go by are>Arguably the best PS2 JRPG.and>Bro try playing it blind instead of watching a let's playBtw, for me it's Shadow Hearts games
>>3996981And also Radiata Stories where I get to sneak around and stalk people for fun and learn their schedules and stuff. I would never do that IRL because cost-performance is low and I could get arrested, so not worth it. But in a game like this, I can do it without hurting anyone (mentally) and with no repercussions.Oh, the story is also fun, and you get to customize the combo attacks when I spam the attack button, which should be a feature in other games like The Witcher 3 so that Geralt doesn't fcking dance around when the enemy is just sitting there in front of him.
>>3996986Radiata Stories is fantastic
