What made Phantasy Star IV the pinnacle of the genre? Why was there never a V?
>>3988888Damn bro, those digits are sexy as hell. Checked.>Why was there never a V?Same reason Sega never released sequels to most of their popular Genesis series on the Saturn, I guess. Also the story of Algo was complete, but a story being complete rarely stops sequels from being made. By the time of the Dreamcast, few of the staff that made PSIV still worked at Sega, or they transitioned to other roles. But you did get Phantasy Star Online (Naka had programmed the original PS) and Skies of Arcadia was produced by Reiko Kodama.
4 was the only one I played. I always liked the SNES more than Genesis, but Genesis did have a damn good sound chip.
>>3988930Yeah. The Genesis sound chip works really well for the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIxbtsXFAc0https://youtu.be/alcQSebOxTkNot just the music, but the sound effects also have a hard edge to them which helps make the battles feel good.
because phantasy star online happenedit wasnt enough to save the dreamcast sadly
can't you guys go back to shitting up /vr/, this board's already dead.
>>3988888I remember it being extremely short and the vehicle was lame
>>3988888A lot of variables coalesced into something magical. I would type out my dissertation now but I just got home from the ER with a dislocated shoulder. >=[Anybody who has not played it should. They did PS2 remakes for the other games but dropped the ball with IV. One thing among the many I would do if I won the lottery would be to pay them to do both a remaster and a full blown remake with added content. That or just learn to code and make a fan-game myself.
>>3988888>pinnacle of the genre?is that Star Ocean 2? or Xenoblade?if u meant scifi RPGs in general and not JRPG scifi, then it's Ur-quan Masters/Star Control 2.
