Dungeon Siege is practically free on Steam right now. Is it worth picking up for the Ultima V and VI total conversion mods?
>>3989696Had no idea those existed thank you
I don’t know but I’ll check it out, is this series just perpetually on sale or something? Just grabbed all three like a month or two ago for about 5 burger bux.
>>3989696Can't say anything about Ultima, but I did play DS1 as a kid/teen quite a bit.Not something I would care to return, but I wish there were more games like that, but with more tricks and designs that I would like. Also, I think they revived the multiplayer for it, but I know you can play MP map solo as well. it's like another bonus campaign of the same length as the base game, although, reused enemies and assets mostly. It has expansions too, dlcs, but I never played them and there is a guide how to set them up on Steam.
DS has less gameplay than cookie clicker. I wouldn't bother with it.
>>3990343You should bother with improving your reading comprehension.
>>3990344You're still playing DS, retard.
>>3989696Dungeon Siege 2 is the superior game but the first game is still neat. It just didn' age as well as 2 which is fun to play to this day and the character customization is far better
>>3991503Having replayed DS1 and 2 recently, I couldn't disagree more. DS2 has combat skills for martials, but everything is worse, from level design, to monster design, to combat, to visuals and to story, and DS1 had no story to begin with.
>>3991503DS2 is a better diabloclone which doesn't make it a better game
>>3989696There's some remakes of Ultima in NWN as well:https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwnee/module/ultima-iv-rebirth-nwnee-only-unofficial-patch-v-233
>>3995089Have you tried it
>>3991821>diablocloneWhy would that make it better?
>>3989696DS would be better if there were more uploaded maps like this one. Terrain nodes have to be stitched 1 by 1 from a gigantic list of valid and nonsense options depending on shape. Like in the OP there are three levels of different-height passable and impassable slopes; it takes a lot of time and practice to make a lot of this quickly, so there just aren't a bajillion campaigns (like there are for NWN for ex). The scripting is also very capable but basically undocumented so what the fuck, can't use it.
I have some nostalgia for DS1, and I was never really that big of a fan. I played it a lot multiplayer when it released. The ice caverns always stuck with me. It looked pretty cool. The gameplay was not as story driven as Diablo was obviously, but I liked the long wilderness "dungeons", and the sign posts telling you how far you had to go. Felt like a real journey.
>>4000588General consensus on this series is that it peaked at DS2.
>>3989817Anytime, mang.
