OK it worked this time
I beat it last night. I recommend it, its good. There are a few bits that feel really rushed like the stuff with Mikazuchi's step-mom. None of Munechika's stuff landed for me, but I never really gave much of shit about her to begin with. The gameplay is significantly better than MM in every way. The ending is good.
Also with regards to Mayacowl I just wanna say get fucked faggots, I told you so. He was obviously the dark half from the very beginning. There's no way they would have given him that voice otherwise.
Making the mobile game canon is a bold choice. I'm surprised they actually did it.
