Only about 6 hours in, but this mix isn't doing much for me so far. Not sure if the gameplay changes drastically once you get deeper into your build and find higher level gear to complement it.

Or is the game simply meant more so for Oblivion/Skyrim fans?
Since on an enjoyment scale I definitely lean harder towards Dark Souls/Elden Ring over Oblivion/Skyrim.

There are different monsters with different powers to fight, so it still keeps it engaging even if you're just whacking people with a stick.
But it's mostly about exploring.

This game is like AA Witcher 3 instead of AAA.
What will happen is more jank, more bugs, but it will keep the same soul of the side quests and the narrative.
Also because of its lower budget it will have worse presentation, worse sound design, worse graphics.

The biggest factor that will damage this game is that it will be an outdated game from gameplay pov, the combat and the rpg mechanics will be similar to Witcher 3 but with a 11 years gap and after many ARPGs that released.

Its combat will get compared to things like Black Myth Wukong and it will look like much worse in comparison.

It will score 80-85 on metacritic.

It superficially a Skyrim clone, but that's misleading. In practice it's a storyfag (or rather, lorefag) game structured more like Witcher 1/2 with you going through acts.
Contrary to others, I found act 1 to be a really boring slog since it felt like Oblivion. Legit felt like false advertising after that rad intro and prologue. To make matters worse you quickly outpace all enemies in act 1, which completely destroys combat. There is no need to interact with any actual combat mechanics because you kill everyone in 1 hit, it's absurd.

It picks up in act 2 and act 3 and you actually get to duel with enemies. Admittedly I started to intentionally sabotage my dmg output near the end of act 1. But even quests, locations and story gets better. Basically anything related to The Knights of the Round Table or Foredwellers is cool and there is a lot of that form Act 2 onwards, but other quests are weirdly quippy and millennial.
