favorite sounds from RPGs? I really love the BZZT sound effect for when you purchase new skills in final fantasy tactics. Even though you're playing a bog-standard fantasy setting it sounds like your character is jacking into an amp or something.
Vagrant Story has stellar sound design, especially the door opening and closing noises. There have never been sexier door noises. But the attacks in general have a great, metallic chunk to them.
>>3993654Entire PS1 Squaresoft library easily. They had the magical crystal sound effects locked down hard. There's something about them that sounds more mystical and thus more convincing on those older games than the higher-quality SE you'd hear in FFX/FFX-2/FFXI/FFXII and the like.
>>3993712>FFX-2What can I do for you... *sings*
>>3993654>I really love the BZZT sound effect for when you purchase new skills in final fantasy tacticsNot just that I also love the selection sfxEven starting from the SNES/PSX version of TO I already loved the hit effects for each skills/attacks desu
Also gonna chime in with the menu sound effects from any Star Ocean game. They don't sound like they're supposed to be in a video game at all somehow, yet I can't imagine Star Ocean having anything besides these.https://files.catbox.moe/y191mz.webm
>>3993654I love the wooden *knock!* from Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale clicking the menus. Some other sounds from those games...>identify, *CRACKLEWOOSH!*>memorize/unmemorize spells, *twinkles.*>trying to remove a cursed item, *droning cord of doom.*And finally my favorite is the noises that play when you pick up and put down arrows (not the Icewind Dale version).
Kingdom Hearts, FFX, and Mario RPG have some of my favorite menu sound effects. I think it's when you select equipment to put on in Mario RPG it makes this tongue clicking kind of sound. I loved that.
>>3993654>Too many Mario RPG end spells to list >magic cast by magikoopas in Paper Mario>Performing a stylish attack in TTYD>Fanfare in any final fantasy>Consuming a healing item in Arc the Lad>Ten no sabaku in Arc the Lad>Magic Cast in Seiken Densetsu 3>Jynx's cry in pokemon
>>3994585>Jynx's cry in pokemonma nigga. You too, anon.
>>3993836Fight it out!
>>3993654It is a small thing but I liked how SMT: Strange Journey had a sound effect when it moved the cursor to the top screen.
>>3993654I especially loved the interface and gun sound effects in fallout 4.
>>3993654For final fantasy specifically - I think Crystal Chronicles has a great set of sound effects (it's music is 10/10 too but that's a different conversation). If I was going to pick a specific thing to highlight - the sound of your caravan moving around the overworld is wonderful
>>3993654there's an art form to that shit
>>3993654the infinity engine games and underrail have very good sound effectsvery immersive and satisfying
>>3996788>incertus...
>>3996789>Corn? When did I eats corn?
>>3996790>hurgh. I need a swig of strong dwarven ale.
>>3993654I like the cute little equip sound ("ba-bit"(? not sure how to make it into an onomatopoeia)) from MOTHER 1. I also like the sound you get when you use PK Beam. It sounds kinda like you're locking on to the enemy in a way to me. And the SMAAAASH sound from MOTHER 1 ("SWAA-WA-WHOO") is also excellent
