>inspired by the first story arc from the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile gameI was going to say. This is not "the first" final fantasy in HD2D. It looked like a console port of a mobile. But they weren't calling it that for some reason. *scratches head*So I don't know what this is. But it's not FF1 as an HD2D remake
>>3998313>It looked like a console port of a mobileit is thatOctopath 0 was that for Octopath COTC and there's a port of Another Eden's first arc coming out as wellMoebius FF will likely get a portMaybe Opera OmniaI could see them porting the KH phone games given how fucking central they are now fucking unicorn man
i think this actually looks fun but im so tired of every game being some festival/crossover where you can summon characters from other entries. god forbid you have enough faith in your game to let it stand alone without needing to rely on cloud showing up...
>>3998319it's a port of a gachait had everybodyhttps://exvius.fandom.com/wiki/Unit_List
>>3998319This. I lost my interest the second the old characters showed up. Pass.
She's in
>>3998319yeah, it comes off as desperate
>>3998307Is this an original story or cameo electric boogaloo like dissidia?
>>3998554Nvm I should have read the thread
>>3998307if this was just an original game id be hyped but the ex-gacha and crossover shit made me lose interest
>>3998307If you don't buy this then turn based is dead to SE.
>>3998307No, ugly.
>>3998640I'll get it on sale eventually. Not paying $50 for a repackaged mobile game the launched in 2016.Imagine if they did a remake of FF11 Online, as an offline experience. And it only played up to the Shadow Lord. BOOOOOO
>>3998640I never believed /v/ actually wants half the things they scream and cry for
>>3998689they wanted this 10 years ago
>>3998689There's a difference between wanting a good game and getting a shit game though. It'll fail because HD/2D is boring as shit. It's not the 90s anymore and square is worth billions, make it look good for fuck sakes
>>3998689/v/ doesn't even play games anymore
>>3998737hd2d looks good tho
>>3998640If that's what they learn from it then good. They should leave turn based to someone else then. I don't buy shit I don't like out of fear.
>>3998800You monster!
>>3998800Emerald Beyond is the best turn based battle system in history.
>>3998307Please god just let this be a traditional FF no online, no multiplayer, no gimmicks like card based combat just a straight up throwback to classic FF
>>3998313I think it's because it's not just a straight port. They're reworking the story.
>>3998942I'm sure you'll find a pea under your mattress regardless
Final Fantasy Engage. They had a stream going over the game. It has airship travel so its more FF than most of the modern titles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKyuO6m6oBU
>>3998307>New 2D Final FantasyHm, okay, we'll see how this goes>It's a port of a gacha gameFuck off, Square
>>3998985>World Map Travel. Chocobos, Airships and random encounters are back.>Save Points do not heal. Tents are back. Inns are also back.>Secret passages that not even the mini map reveals, even after entering said secret room or passage.>Every NPC, even the nameless, have voice acting, it seems.>FF9's "Active Time Event" system is back. That's neat to see.>The main story characters have their own progression system, on top of what Visions grant when equipped.>Visions are treated like a Job System.>TMR (Trust Mastery Reward) was replaced with Mastery Ranks. Essentially, the same as Job levels in any past FF that had em, which unlocks permanent passives and equippable abilities for global usage.>Said equipabble abilities run with a point cap similar to the FF9 abilities system. Some permanent passives from certain visions, among other sources, increase this cap.>All Visions can only be earned from main story events, sidequests, and hidden locations across the world. This is the case for both the FFBE-original characters and the FF-franchise characters.I guess things are indeed going back to tradition. The following is an interesting translation from what FFBE had for combat.>The Combat System is back to turn-based, but it is not ATB. It instead uses the Conditional Battle System from FFX, but with extra caveats.>The Break System was kept. Like FF13 and similar, build up a gauge to stagger (break) the targets. Hitting a weakness, or certain skills, will deal more to this gauge. Breaking a target forces them to be on the very back of the turn queue.>Break all targets to create a "Full Break". This grants all your party members a free turn, and a chance to activate certain skills that only work in this state.>"Resonance" is exactly that. Each Vision has their own type, which you can unleash on enemies or help your party with.So far, so good...>So far, the confirmed main party members are: Rain, Lasswell, Fina/Dark Fina, Lid, Nichol, Jake, and Sakura.
>>3999013Should probably add that the Vision system as done in this game kinda reminds me of the Persona games. See, while they do function like traditional jobs, (oh, and they have labeled with one of the 6 role names from the FF13 games), they all influence your elemental strengths and weaknesses. Meaning, if you are with a Vision that has a fire weakness, the one with the Vision on will also suffer that weakness. In FFBE, all units had their own natural resistances and/or vulnerabilities, so this is nothing new. Visions are also somewhat still treated as their own characters, so selecting from their own skills will have all of them act them out with their own animations, not Rain and Company. That said, they also share the turn order, HP and MP with the main characters that have them equipped, so you'd still need to be careful. Also, in practice, how "Full Break" is handled here DOES also remind me of the "All-Out Attack" stuff from the modern persona games, so there was also that. And I think all Visions have their own Limit Burst too, but I dunno if Resonance replaces it yet. The stream nor other articles have so far mentioned this.
>>3998810Not really, not even better than FFIV-VII
>>3999032it absolute iskeep your cock holster shut
>>3999013Sounds great. With FFVII-3 and this, FF is offering something for everyone.
>>3999043If you're truly confident in your earlier statement you shouldn't have resorted to childish insults sir.
Looks pretty good. Full remake by Team Asano. Not really relevant that it was gachashit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKyuO6m6oBUAbout 40 minutes of gameplay here. Switch 2 version. It has visible drops to below 20 FPS, which is fucking grim given it's a pixel art game.
>>3999108Sadly even pixel art games are now run on fucking Unreal 5 or some other bloatware
>>3999013>>The Break System was kept. Like FF13 and similar, build up a gauge to stagger (break) the targets. Hitting a weakness, or certain skills, will deal more to this gauge. >>3998509To me, it's more like regret. Other companies and IPs kept using the same characters in their games, but not Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy started doing that with Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia. Now they want to do it all the time, like in World of Final Fantasy.
>>3998319The only reason to play this game is to pretend you are back in the original games with a new story. Yes, I will be farming for a FF6 team and playing it like they found a new continent and are just continuing the FF6 story.

>>3998307looks sorta good but i hate how cheap looking the ui is and the cgi summons look so out of placewhy did devs stop giving a shit about trying to make games look cohesive
>>3999140hmThat's an interesting perspectiveThere might be something to that
>>4000180in BE but not in Resonance
>>3998307i almost got excited for this but the reuse of mobage shit just turns me off. if it was 20 bucks i'd give it a play.
>>4000364Expect it
>>4000375Just pirate it 6 months after release once SE removos the denuvos
I hope this becomes a trend. Nowadays there's so many F2P games with a fantastic art, music, and gameplay foundations that would have so much more potential as full games with real equipment and balancing and everything, instead of the "log in everyday for 20 different types of currency"-type shit
>>3998307Looks like Saga Frontier.
>>3999114>EngageBrave Exvius did this shit long before Engage came out.
>>3998319>>3999223By that logic FFT's devs were afraid of the game standing on its own because Cloud and Aerith showed up. The cameo characters don't matter to the plot and only exist because it would be a waste of perfectly good resources to throw all of them out.
>>4000415>AerithYou did not play Final Fantasy Tactics.
>>4000420she was just a NPC, not a party member
>>3998810I still need to get to that one.
>>4000569>she was just a NPC, not a party memberThe game came out in the U.S. in 1998. It’s Aeris. The only people using “Aerith” at the time were a handful of fringe terminal weebs on GameFAQs who adopted a shibboleth to differentiate themselves, in their minds, from the baka otaku gaijin proles using “Aeris” (you know, her name in the manual, and the default name in the game itself). Now, a new generation of retards has grown up playing shitty nu-Squaresoft spinoffs and demakes and the bullshit has been retcon’d back to the old games that predated it.
>>4001031In a sense, by claiming only people who call her Aeris have played FFT, you yourself have created a shibboleth out of the mistransliteration.
>>4000415>comparing "two brief cameos" to "literally 99% of the characters are cameos"lol idiot
>>4001031oh, you were being stupid
>>4001037>in a sense, by consistently using the original and correct name of a character, you’re doing exactly the same thing as those who intentionally use the wrong name of a characterBig think with anon
>>3998985Took me a minute to realize when the one girl said ki me kokoro, she was spelling out 想. Tell me I'm not the only one.
>melting down over someone called Aerith "Aeris"please, same character. Now an acceptable meltdown would be someone getting pissed that you referenced the lameass love interest from XV as Stella instead of her actual name
>>4001046Can we really call it the wrong name if it was officially stated to be an anagram of earth and has since been corrected?
So…it’s another World of Final Fantasy?
>>4001274de gachified brave evxvius year 1
>>4001279Ah, more to come then.
>>3998307Slop
Aeris/Aerith both refer to the same fucking character. Getting your panties in a twist over it is retarded.Anyway, the cameo characters in Resonance contribute nothing to the plot and are memberberry pieces of gear as far as the game is concerned, so its basically up to how much your autism is bothered over seeing a sprite of Cloud or whoever passively standing around in battle.
>>3999103Asano isn't even involved. Which is good actually. The only good story he made was Triangle Strategy, and it's barely even FFT level.
>>3998307>Gacha slop Into the trash it goes.
>>3998942For a real "traditional FF" SE should have called Sakaguchi back, in order to wrote and direct the game as he did from 1 to 10.
>>4004129Apparently part 1 is good, but I dislike the looks already
chances of xenogears returning?
>>4006838Beyond zero
