Which trilogy, do you think, will be remembered more fondly in the future?
>>
>>3999487
They're the exact same trilogy
>talky overly linear first game
>nonsensical jarring freeform gameplay in second that ends in a confusingly depicted tragedy
>third part that tries to tie up an entire metaplot as hastily as possible
>>
>>3999487
FF VII Trilogy
>>
>>3999511
agreed, Lightning Returns shat the bed interms of composition. We were expecting hyper futuristic cites and technologies beyond what we have now, instead we were met with gothic arctecture and boring MMO esque fetch quests.

Also FF VII Trilogy had baller mini-games and Cloud's stoicness broken in awkward situations.
>>
>>3999487
>13 trilogy
a new series that tries something different. love it or hate it, it's a unique set of games that have a reason to exist.
>7r trilogy
a remake that satisfied neither people who wanted "the same game but better graphics" nor the people who wanted "the same game but action gameplay" by padding the living fuck out of the original work's story, lore rape, and some of the ugliest half-measure gameplay instead of just fully committing to either action or rpg. the further you go along in it, the more hollow and empty you feel as you can't believe you waited decades for this. you curse nomura and whoever else is to blame, but you can't do anything about it.
>>
>>3999514
>whoever else is to blame
Nojima
most things you blame on Nomura are also Nojima's fault too, as they are super best buddies and have been joined at the hip since like 1994
>>
>>3999487
None. FF died with IX or maybe X. Everything after has been subpar trash, specially VII expanded universe related stuff. While nostalgia is idealization of a past that never truly was there are still fundamental requirements that must be meet for it to tiger like some base iconic value or memorable elements. XIII and VIIR are both unremarkable crap, VIIR is just treated slightly better because it rides on some original VII nostalgia.

7R but I like XIII trilogy more. XIII-2 is the only game from the series I don't like and it's the exact reason why I hate 7R. (plot goes full retard, upping the scale to fucking retarded levels, adding gameplay mechanics and gimmicks that I don't fucking care about, exists purely to just shit on itself)
>>
Neither because Final Fantasy ended after 10.
>>
>>3999487
7R, obviously. Rebirth is already one of the highest-rated JRPGs of all time. XIII was mediocre all around. I don't know a non-waifufag who likes XIII in any way.
>>

4/10 bait
>>
>>3999487
Can you put Final Fantasy in your posts so my filter catches it? Thanks.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bait.
>b-b-b-but muh review scores
Let me preemptively stop you from moving goalposts right here.

>>3999616
This level of ineptitude and immaturity smacks of Falcom fan. They don't allow themselves to play other games and get furious when reminded that they exist.

>>3999601
>Rebirth is already one of the highest-rated JRPGs of all time
Then Revelation is going to mog the whole genre, since that game is gonna be crazy good
>>
>>3999647
>>3999601
Rebirth wasn't even the best Square release the year it came out, that was Emerald Beyond
>>
>>3999670
No, Emerald Beyond was abysmal dogshit. One of the worst games of the year. You could at least mention Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, but you're probably a peanut-brained contrarian.
>>
>>3999487
7 isn't a trilogy you tourist

You jest but then you remember Lighting is Nojimas trans-Cloud jerk off fantasy. I'm honestly surprised they didn't include Clouds whore-house outfits in 7 as alternate outfits for Lighting. Seems like a missed oportunity.

Stop acting like a white girl, we got lore expansion. We didn't give three fucks about avalanche in the original, in comparison we truly felt for them here.

I barely even remember Johny from the original, but he's a hilarious side character in the remake.

Cait Sith was a nothing burger pre-betrayal, but was pretty impactful in this game.

>>3999518
There have been a few alright entries
>Crystal Chronocles was good for what it was
more of an entry title for younger folks
>Tactics Advance
pretty alright
>XIII-2
Much better than the original.

>>3999542
XIII-3 was way worse than XIII-2 my guy.
>Fucky fetch quests
>boring world in comparison to the original two
what happened to that cool ultrafutristic archtechure?
Why the fuck are there modern trains instead of teleporters or some ultra cool shit?
>repetitive shit like extinction
>>
XIII-2 really killed my interest in the trilogy when they took the most unique combat system in the series and lazily turned it into pokemon
>>
>>3999746
I think XIII-2 is way more interesting than XIII. All the monsters have skill trees with a bunch of unique skills. You can also get party members from the first game to use instead of the monsters.
>>
>>3999750
The game becomes a nightmare when you go for 100% completion. Monsters don't always drop their soul gem or whatever the fuck. Some of them have a 1% chance of showing up in the first place, and you may have to kill 10 of them. Reminds me of Rogue Galaxy's bounty system where some rare enemies still had to be killed 20+ times and it could take literal hours to find even one.
