You can definitely feel the resentment from Larian that players would rather create their own characters in an RPG rather than use their canned donut steel OC origin characters. This also shows in how they hindered the ability to create a fully custom party, compared to DOS2 (nerfing the “generic” mercenaries to have specific predefined race/class combinations instead of à la carte, and even giving them stupid backstory blurbs). There’s still the “launch the game four times” multiplayer workaround, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Larian removes that for their next game. The contempt for the players is real and palpable (look at how they lied about the cut content in BG3), and there’s always the saltiness just beneath the surface from leftoids about white males wanting to play as a white male.
