>start DQ4 on DS>literally every character is instantly likableWhy can't JRPGs manage this anymore? The funniest part is that DQ4 manages this without voice acting or cutscenes. All you have to do is check party chat once in a while and you get gobs and gobs of great character building without interrupting the flow of the game.Torneko's item appraisals are charming as hell, too. You can hear a perfect voice for him in your head without even trying. Game devs really need to go back to treating video games like video games instead of movies.

i think the beautiful thing about dq4 is that it has a big party with characters in every age group and all walks of life. in most jrpgs, you'll have maybe one slightly older dude and one little girl, but 4 has two middle aged men, a grampa, a very young girl, twin sisters in the prime of their lives, and it's just awesome. this is what makes it such a timeless game: no matter what stage of life you're in, there's going to be one or two characters the same age as you.

Are you faggots seriously cocking up my DQIV thread with /pol/ shit? Go to hell.Anyway, seriously glad I waited to get a flash card so I could play this game with the party chat patched in. I'm always impressed by how often everyone had something new to say. Frequently, they even specifically respond to NPCs you may have just talked to, so it's always worth it to just press B every now and again.
>>4003358I also love how much Torneko desperately wants to cross-dress every time you appraise a piece of ladies' clothing.

>>4003358>Are you faggots seriously cocking up my DQIV thread with /pol/ shit? The overlap between /v/ and /pol/ is so severe that it bleeds over to other vidya boards like us. But I digress before I start shitting up the thread.>Flash card patchI would actually highly recommend the mobile versions of 4, 5 and 6. I played the trilogy on my DS as a child, so I do have a soft spot for those versions, but mobile is a good port especially for anyone who doesn't have a DS on hand. Also, I only speak for V on this since it's my favorite, but I think the mobile music is an improvement. God knows that hurts the nostalgiafag in me. Can't remember if 4 and 6's music got touched on as well, it's been a few years.
