This is where Obsidian peaked. Kind of meh storywise, but the gameplay was robust and feature-complete.
>>
Pic unrelated, you clearly meant to use Alpha Protocol
>>
>>4004474
Nah, NWN2 had awful encounter design and the whole stronghold thing was lamely done.
>>
>>4004476
>Alpha Protocol
It is a strong contender but felt kind of short. I need to replay it.
>>
>>4004474
>Kind of meh storywise, but the gameplay was robust and feature-complete
That's Dungeon Siege 3, it's a really solid arpg on a gamepad. NWN2 plays like absolute ass.
>>
>>4004474
>meh storywise
I liked the story.
The only real sin it had, was that it crashed every 10 minutes.
>>
>>4004478
>the whole stronghold thing was lamely done.

Not a single person in the whole world believes this. The one thing people look fondly on about NWN2 is Crossroad Keep. You are trying to pass your dogshit opinion as fact when it's demonstrably false in real life.
>>
>>4004474
The story was really good on paper. Only the execution kinda dragged on through the middle act.
>>
>>4004860
>You are trying to pass your dogshit opinion as fact when it's demonstrably false in real life
The irony of someone posting this without a shred of self-awareness.
>>
>>4004478
I liked it.

Lame, boring, boilerplate. Just like NWN2. :)
>>4004878
Good for you.

>Obsidian peaked
No, WRPG peaked. Everything after NWN2 had that peculiar blue haired writer shit in it that just pulls one out of the narrative.
Similar thing happened to fantasy books. Actually, it hit all of the entertainment at about the same time.

Stop using Discord.

Post-Occupy Wall Street ramping up of the divide and conquer identity politics. Obama legalizing propaganda with the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act in 2012. The Gnomish bankers bought off the left with faggots, trannies, and infinite third world scabs and they enthusiastically ate that shit up to own the chuds.
>>
Obsidian peaked with Deadfire, which is top 3 CRPGs of all time.
>>
>>4005083
Deadfire isn’t even in the top 3 Obsidian games, much less cRPGs in general.
>>
"robust and feature complete" motherfucker I want to play a GAME not a CORPORATE MANAGEMENT TOOL

Story was great as a parody of D&D but still took itself seriously enough that it wasn't a farce. MotB was even better as a story about love and faith.

Then Obsidian decided to make a parody of their own parodies with Pillars of Eternity and it was a PIECE OF SHIT.
>>
>>4004474
>people say the story is shit
>actually it's a pretty alright story
This game taught me that gaymers are often either liars or fucking retarded and can never be trusted.
>>
I keep wanting to replay it but it's such a slog to get through. I remember how the bandit camp was just room after room of the same mobs spawning in
I loved the later end of the campaign, basically after you get your blond farmgirl waifu
>>
What's the funnest class to play the original campaign
>>
>>4005520
Paladin.
>>
>>4005520
Any Bard, single-class or multiclass with Able Learner. FB is always great for building a melee rape machine.

shit taste

Pillars games are some of the best crpgs of all time and are only hated by the baby-duck-syndrome retards who expected the exact same game as <insert late 90s early 2000s title here>, and who actually can't appreciate the genre.

Pillars games are some of the worst crpgs of all time and are only loved by the homosexual-midwit retards who expected the deconstruction of a <insert late 90s early 2000s title here>, and who actually can't appreciate the genre.
>>
>>4005842
Pillars isn't a deconstruction, it's a midwitted take to thing it is.
>>
>>4005912
>Pillars is […] a deconstruction, it's a midwitted take
Glad we agree.

a dwarven monk, so you can mock Khelgar all the time
>>
>>4006629
>a dwarven monk, so you can mock Khelgar all the time
Are there dialogue options for this? Would be clever, but I’d put it past Obsidian
>>
>>4006632
I don't know, but if you're a tiefling a villager would think you and Neeshka are a married couple.
>>
>>4006632
No.
You even get the dialogue option that implies that you think dwarven monks are a bit silly when you first meet him.
>>
>>4006632
No, but it makes sense because even a dwarf PC isn't dwarven culturally, like Khelgar.
>>
I hate DnD combat. Deadfire has the best rtwp combat of all time.
>>
>>4004474
is this before baldurs gate two?

neeshka is love neeshka is life

>>4004474
NWN2 had some good NPCs (Khelgar, Sand, Bishop to a degree) and some dreadful ones that really held it back
I liked it more than most though, it was fun if not especially memorable
>>
>>4005520
honestly barbarian is pretty satisfying
or a druid with a dinosaur companion
>>
>>4004474
It was pretty fun. Both expansions where great.
>>4004476
fpbp
>>
>>4004474
Did they ever optimize it for modern PCs? I tried to play it again a little while back and it was unplayably buggy
>>
>>4017123
there's an enhanced edition. haven't tried it. think it got so-so reviews
>>
I have a question about the first game, but don't feel like litter the board with another dead thread, so just ask there:
Is using enhanced edition worth it to play older modules or should i just stick to diamond one? I know that even if enhanced supposed to work the same there still new bugs, and in some modules there script working issues, to the point of you can just end up getting soft locked because some scene don't starting as it intended and similar stuff.
>>
>>4017213
>is using enhanced edition worth it to play older modules?
Yes. You get compatibility with modern systems, better stability, better engine tools and better customisation. The problems you describe with playing older modules on the EE version did exist, but they were due to earlier versions of the EE and as far as I know the compatibility issues should be fixed now. I've replayed a few older modules that used to have issues and haven't run into any.
>>
>>4017123
>>4017128
enhanced edition is just 64bit port and upscaled textures which increases loading times a lot, but there is a mod to turn it back down.
otherwise I don't think they fixed much bugs, this is all second-hand information though.
