Really makes u think
>>
>>4004594
there's like 10 endings dude
>>
>>4004595
Many are minor variations.
>Corpo path, corpo ending
>Nomad path, nomad ending
>Street kid path, helicopter assault ending
There’s a few other permutations, like doing the helicopter assault as Johnny, and the final choice at the end, and there’s always the “blow your own head off” option, but broadly speaking there’s three main paths to get to the end that align with the three lifepaths (what little didn’t get cut of them anyway)

Yes. It’s not the game they promised during development, but if you accept it for what it is, rather than the game we were expecting, it’s fun.

You should be OK. Turn raytracing on for five minutes to ooh and aah and then leave it off for better FPS.

The only thing(s) people were "expecting" that I agree with that could count as "promised" was a story with more branching dialogue and more developed lifepaths. Most things people whine about are minor and almost certainly wouldn't have changed the gameplay that much. The one thing that really pisses me off about the outrage that people had over this game is that it turned off investors and severely limited interest in continuing development on it. We probably would have got a few more expansions, and an online component if people didn't bitch and moan about a few bugs that arguably had no impact on the game. I played through it twice at launch and never encountered a game/quest breaking bug, or dozens of flying cars, or infinite spawning police, and whatever else people cried about. At worst, I had a some unlootable bodies, pedestrians freaking out and causing accidents, and some bugged street encounters that turned the police on me.
And I actually like pre2.0 Cyberpunk more than what we have now. A lot of the interactables are scaled to stats/levels now, and that's kind of bullshit. I didn't care about the wardrobe shit either, I just wore whatever I wanted and took the defense hit as a challenge.
>>
>>4014523
>people didn't bitch and moan about a few bugs that arguably had no impact on the game
game no worky!
playstation offer a refund! never befo seen!
it was that bad, I'm glad CDPR got a backlash but they also sold way too many copies
>>
>>4014650
Yeah, releasing on last gen was also a retarded mistake, but the game not being able to run properly isn't really the same thing as one that just runs like shit. The hardware simply could not support the game and it should havenever released on it.
>>
>>4014523
>The only thing(s) people were "expecting" that I agree with that could count as "promised" was a story with more branching dialogue and more developed lifepaths
The RPG elements. The lifepaths, the classes (reduced to mere clothing sets in the final game), more choices to roleplay something other than 'streetkid merc solo'. In their own marketing materials, before release they stopped calling it an RPG and started calling it action-adventure. Somewhere along the way, much of the initial vision withered away, and we got something like a cinematic action-adventure looter shooter GTA clone with light RPG elements. That's what I meant by that it wasn't the game they started developing, but it can still be fun if you accept it for what it is.
>if people didn't bitch and moan about a few bugs that arguably had no impact on the game. I played through it twice at launch and never encountered a game/quest breaking bug
I played it once at launch on a good PC, and it was playable and not unusually buggy. I think a lot of the bitching was from consoles.
>dozens of flying cars
The car is buggier now, imo. Like 25% of the time you call it it lands upside down for me.
>or infinite spawning police
This was definitely a thing, it was pretty crazy. You could be standing on the roof of a skyscraper with no way up and cops would spawn right behind you.
>And I actually like pre2.0 Cyberpunk more than what we have now
It's a mixed bag imo, some good some bad. The new level scaling is fucking retarded, and they also reduced build diversity by consolidating and shoehorning everything together. And by taking stats from clothing and putting it on cyberware, heavily nerfed "no chrome" runs. But some of the changes were good, the grinding treadmill for loot was fucking stupid at launch, and some things like it taking thousands of clicks to craft a single legendary crafting component out of basic ones were just retarded, like no dev had ever actually tried it or thought about it.

Most of them are just exp and loot, but some of them have iconics or schematics for one, you get shards for extra skill exp, sometimes some other high quality items.
>>
>>4017484
But do they lead to any story bits or unique quests?
>>
>>4017491
I did all of them in some older version and only Regina cyber psycho quest was done by doing them. Can't remember any other so I skipped it on my subsequent playthrough.
>>
>>4017491
There are some "hidden" or extra missions you can get from some of the ncpd's, but its nothing related to the story really.
>>
>>4017347
>I always just sped right past them.
But anon, criminals are terrorizing the innocent citizens of night city! Don’t you want to stop and help those poor people?
>>
>>4017622
Are we sure? I had an impression that a quest may lead you to ncpd place, so I can see that if you first went to ncpd it would trigger that quest but is there any quest you can miss if you don't do them?
>>
>>4017961
None of the story quests link to any ncpd missions. The missions you can pick up from ncpd's are usually just extra drive over here and loot this stuff type of thing, maybe some more people to fight.

I view the game as an Action game with several endings. It's a bit too on-rails for an RPG. With that in mind, I enjoyed it for what it is: an open-world adventure with plenty of both immersion and jank.

I've read that the endings are asking you, "What are you willing to give up?" Are you willing to survive but make a deal with the Devil (Arasaka),for instance.

I recently did the Arasaka ending for the first time and it's pretty brutal.
>>
>>4029060
It's not really that bad. It only sounds bad because everyone around you is being a debbie downer and acting like it's the end of the world, when realistically/logically, being put on ice until a "cure" can be found is one of the best options if surviving is your goal. Also, don't forget that what happens to V is the same shit rich people spend ridiculous amounts of money to be a part of, and it's also the reason Saburo is potentially still alive. Granted there are some weird consequences of that, like is it really him and not just a separate consciousness with the same memories, but the dude is practically immortal now.
Also, people have been documented having been in coma and living entire lives before waking up, so I really don't get why people are so scared of this idea. The alternative is non-existence, so...
Maybe the main argument is that Arasaka doesn't care about you, but they also believe in keeping their word to a point. I don't really see why that should matter. Arasaka is evil and selfish, boohoo, but they're also offering you something only billionaires get, so cry me a river.

I was thinking about getting this because it's on sale, but I had a few questions first:
Is the tone of the game just overall depressing, hopeless, and degenerate?
Can I play as a normal natty human without augs?
How awful are the male and female player character voices?
>>
>>4029533
>Is the tone of the game just overall depressing, hopeless, and degenerate?
Yes, especially so in the expansion.
>Can I play as a normal natty human without augs?
Yes for the most part, although the devs hampered this playstyle in the 2.0 update. You’re forced to get eyes as part of the main story, and forced to get another implant as part of the expansion story, although you can reject the majority of cyberware. I’ve beaten the game with only the forced implants on “hard” but doing so on “very hard” would likely be very tedious and involve much savescumming.
Male V voice is okay. Troons say the female voice is good, I dunno.
Overall the game can be fun if you don’t go into it expecting a deep RPG. On sale for 20-30 bucks I’d say it’s a good value.
>>
>>4029571
Ah, that's too bad. Doesn't sound like a good fit for me. Thank you for replying.
>>
>>4029533
>Is the tone of the game just overall depressing, hopeless, and degenerate?
I wouldn't call it depressing. The GTA-tier ads in the world probably take a lot of the edge off. Feels vaguely idiocracy-esque.
The voiced player character being a Redditor makes it worse.
>>
>>4029571
>female voice is good
Male V voice sucks. Fem V is ok, but she tries too hard to act tough, and I can't really take it seriously. She has some great lines though. Spunky and not too annoying. Both of them are terrible at getting any kind of "sad" emotion across, though. I cringe every time they whine.
>>
I fell for the hype and played the game on launch, beat it, haven't touched it since. Is it worth replaying with all the changes they've made? Is the DLC integrated into the main story or can/should I skip right to it?
>>
>>4029969
You can make a new game and start right at phantom liberty. Not sure what they give you up until that point. The story takes off after you do the voodoo boys quest, so its pretty far in depending on how you approach the different paths. its integrated up until i point, since it provides 2 new endings.
Still, I think the game is shittier since the 2.0 patch. They scaled a lot of stuff to your level instead of being static, which is lame as fuck. Also all your stats are tied to your cyberwear, not clothes, so you can wear whatever you want now without being gimped. on the other hand, you are pushed to using cyberwear and some nerds dont like that.
>>
>>4029969
>I fell for the hype and played the game on launch, beat it, haven't touched it since. Is it worth replaying with all the changes they've made?
Same. I also waited until after 2.0 and the expansion to replay it.
It depends on what you disliked about it. The fundamental issue with it imo was that at some point in development, it stopped being the RPG they originally claimed to be making, and morphed into something like an RPG-adjacent cinematic action-adventure looter shooter/GTA clone. They did nothing to fundamentally alter what the game is. If you accept that, it can still be fun. Mechanics-wise, 2.0 changed a fair amount, some good changes and also some dumb ones.
+ Significantly reduced how retarded the item upgrade treadmill and loot scaling was at launch
+ Added lots of new cool abilities
+/- streamlined and consolidated many of the stats and skills. You can look at this as reducing bloat, or dumbing down, take your pick
- Build diversity significantly reduced, you are now pigeonholed into fewer options and less "a la carte" choices
- All the "armor mods" were removed and shoved onto cyberware, nerfing the max humanity 'ganic playstyle
- Entire game is now level scaled for some fucking stupid reason
>Is the DLC integrated into the main story or can/should I skip right to it?
Not integrated well. You can't do the expansion area until you're about halfway through the main quest. You get some pretty busted abilities in it so you may want to do it in the middle and then be able to play around with them, or do the classic "wait until the point of no return and then do the expansion and then the final boss"

>>
>>4029533
It's pretty hopeless. Like Robocop tier.
All your armor upgrades come from augs, so trying to play without them is gonna be difficult. And you start the game with some basic Neuralink cellphone interface, and you're required to get new eyes as part of the tutorial, so you can't ever be completely natty.
The player voice acting is competent, but the real problem there is that the tone of the line delivery is wrong for what my character is feeling. V is clearly his own distinct person, not just a player avatar, but at the same time he's not really interesting as a character. It's the eternal dilemma of voiced protagonists.
>>
>>4029533
Only the story is depressing. The setting/world is actually pretty neat, and there are a lot of comfy places throughout the city despite what everyone might say. I would live there if the crime wasn't that bad, on the outside looking in, it's pretty cool.
