I literally can't talk enough about Disco Elysium but to get to you question OP, I don't think whatever game this is can in anyway compare to the sheer brilliance that is Disco Elysium. The game is so packed full of deep intellectual concepts that I'm surprised there's even a large enough following for DE (Disco Elysium) that threads about it to appear. Not that I'm complaining :).
DE (Disco Elysium) has one of the deepest and well thought out gameplay in any game I've ever played. It's cut through all the rooty tooty point and shooty "gameplay" (that other games waste their time on) and gets to the real meat of any game.... the story. I truly can't express how how shocked I was (well I can, I lived through the "trump years") that there are people who don't like DE (Disco Elysium). It's probably just their preconceived notions on what a "game" has to be. These same people probably also have antiquated ideas about women, race, and religion as well. So in short most detractors of this game are incels.

It was a commie game that didn’t flop. Had an interesting art direction, some nice (but repetitive) songs, and a few well done scenes (the meeting of the cryptid). One some level commies are terrified that the chuds are right, that they drive every studio they infest to produce ideologically cringe garbage, and eventually ruin companies. So they get very excited when a game of theirs doesn’t flop - even if it still somehow manages to ruin the studio.

It's as if Jesus of the one true church came down, walked the earth and started performing miracles. Many would claim him to be a false god by virtue of clinging to their own religious delusions and an equally many would doubt due to their obsession of watching AI generated content on TikTok. The major problem with this game is that no matter what you do, nothing really matters at the end, which I guess fits the depressing theme of nihilism the writers intended but it doesn't change the fact this is a shitty counter-intuitive way to design a game. You can go through hoops to do all of these side quests to find unique equipment, try to talk to everyone & garner as much xp as you can, and ultimately this is meaningless because the only factors that determine whether you can solve the case is how you choose to deal with the blonde druggie whore. There aren't multiple endings, none of the side quests you solve have any bearing on anything outside of their immediate resolution, and you really just need to invest in a handful of skills at most to pass the mandatory checks for progressing the game forward & outside of these there's no penalty for failing & it's just down to preference as to whether you like the outcome or not. You can find various books to pass the time, and again this is another meaningless mechanic because you don't unlock a secret that would give you an alternate path to affect anything by doing this; your time is just wasted. You have four different political ideologies you can have Harry adopt & blend them together as well as different personality options, and again this is rendered completely meaningless because the whole game is set up to have nothing matter in the long run.

I’m not going to read thru this whole thread because OP is a faggot. The writing is anti-millennial, if anything. Very gonzo-boomer, and the voice acting is great.

The murder Vic is an absolute chad and the hot bitch was addicted to his cock. He was a hardcore military man, which is about as anti-millennial… hell anti-boomer writing as one can get. He is a spaghetti western-type antihero, and his killer is an absolutely pathetic commie faggot. I didn’t quite get the giant stick bug situation though.

I enjoyed my time with DE. Not going to replay it - don’t care enough to hear every dialogue tree, but the whole game is a build up to the climax, which was one of the if not the best climaxes in all of video games. Loved how your choices set the stage for both sides, and your skills had a huge impact on the final outcome. Was worth all the bullshit for that final confrontation, and I still think about it often. The only thing that approaches it is the sunken continent sequence in ff6, but that was fully on rails whereas DE’s climax is gritty intimate brutal and fully based on all the shit you did.

Glad i did it. Writing not millennial. But not a detective game and the amnesia thing is hamfisted, but the experience was awesome and the climax was a great payoff.
