>>4005647Yeah, it’s pretty good… for me to poop on
>>4005647Is it though? The writing is pretty awful. Ff13 is basically the only game where everyone can agree has a stronger ratio of unlikable characters to likable characters. The tutorializafion of the entire game is also annoying. The point of RPGs is to have options and limiting the player for most of the game isn’t really fun. That said I did beat everyone but vercingetorix and I started to enjoy the combat system once it really opened up, but still having direct control of one character felt kind of limiting. But the dialogue is just painful. It really has that millennial Disney channel writing that felt very forced even back then
Its the second best mainline FF. Gorgeous art direction, best combat in the series and balanced to perfection, great soundtrack, original setting, very satisfying side missions. >>4005681>the point of rpgs is to have optionsNo it isn’t. The early levels being restrictive fit the story of fugitives. The point was that they couldn’t go where they want.
>>4005681>the only gameI mean no there's dozens of examples of that.
>>4005647yep
>>4005647Indeed.I quite liked how alive Gran Pulse was with the huge adamantoises walking in the distance, Titan behind the mountains, the pterodactyls flying overhead, and the wolves chasing the prey animals. Sadly there has been no game with as much movement onscreen in the field areas since. The following mainline FF games and FF7 Rebirth are very disappointing in that regard.>>4005681>Is it though? The writing is pretty awful. It's just okay. You can do much, much worse. (*cough* Fire Emblem *cough* Tales *cough* Trails *cough Xenoblade* *cough* FF16).>Ff13 is basically the only game where everyone can agree has a stronger ratio of unlikable characters to likable characters. The only character I found to be unlikeable was Lightning for constantly trying to waltz off and leaving Hope alone in the woods to either get munched on by monsters, killed by SWAT teams, or somehow live long enough to turn into a monster.>>4005681>The tutorializafion of the entire game is also annoying. There are hardly any tutorials unlike Xenoblade. If you mean that the game is designed around having a full ATB bar and 3 party members which you don't get until the 40 hour mark, then yes that brought down the experience.>>4005681>But the dialogue is just painful. It really has that millennial Disney channel writing that felt very forced even back thenYou say that as if JRPG dialogue and voice acting improved. FF13's dialogue and VO sounds stellar to almost everything after its release in 2009.
>>4005647It was better than XII at least.
