Some of my favorite 90's stuff is remakes of 80's stuff like Dragon Quest III SFC or Revival Xanadu. Probably SMT1 though if we're talking original games to that decade.

Phantasy Star IV is the best JRPG ever made. Nothing else compares. I want them to do a fucking remaster or full blown remake already. They did it for the first three on PS2 then stopped. It's like a cosmic joke, universe straight up trolling me not doing IV.

How do we make it happen? I even sent an email to some Sega people years ago to hopefully stir something up or get them considering it. Anybody have a good idea how to go about it? I'm poor, otherwise I'd just go fly there and negotiate something and pay them tons of money to remake my favorite fucking game. HNNNNGHHHHHHHHHH

Illusion of Gaia always stood out as one of my favorites because of the music and mystic feel plus being an action rpg. I wish it was open world but its good enough that I keep coming back. Another that's kind of similar is Robotrek.

Do you have any examples? I wasnt even aware there were any good western rpgs aside from maybe stardew valley? Or some other fan made mostly independent gems. I played games like dragon age and they didn't compare at all. Rainbow was alright I think that might have been a western one. If I'm out of the loop by all means fill me in on some good ones because I havnt played much of anything modern I liked aside from those because the few I've tried just felt soulless.

Maybe in modern times but no most all classic jrpgs had multi year builds with teams sewing in ground breaking work and pro artists and symphony made music at times. They had values and likeable characters not simply leaning on making 3d modeling or whatever crap that distracted from the essentials. You make it sound like an anime like Evangeline is garbage compared to something like the 90s pokemon show.
