What's the best version of Dragon Quest 1 2 and 3? NES, SNES, GBC or the modern 2DHD ones?

Haven't played the English SNES ports of 1+2 to know what direction they went with or if they copypasted one of the existing scripts wholesale. DQ3 SNES is honestly great but I prefer the 8-bit charm of the GBC version.
