We arrived at the bugmaster's craterSpent a few minutes trying to find him in the sunken tower. He was in a different tower.
He ignored my challenge and went straight for Ruka. She's one of the best trained members of my squad, but she was eventually taken down without being able to do much damage. The plank's not so good in 1v1's against someone with stats that high.
When she fell the squad leader took over. The fight lasted almost until dawn, but the Bugmaster fell. I was worried he'd call an army of bugs to help him but it seems they only hang around.
Headed to Okran's shield to steal a Meitou. While I was waiting for nightfall hidden in the power supply shack, heard a commotion outside. A lone drifter skeleton was taking on the whole base. Held on very well but the crossbow turrets got him in the end. Gonna break him out and recruit him, if he doesn't join me as a freed slave I'll use the mod.

>>4010430Gut or Levi Coast
>>4010430I liked the Stormgap Coast, on account of the large amount of roving grass pirates. They attacked my settlemenet almost constantly, so I had my warriors mining outside and fighting groups solo. Got them from 40 to 60 combat stats pretty quick. And they're pretty weak individually so things wouldn't get out of hand even if several of my guys were wounded.
>>4010508Plus GUT is right next door so it was easy to make a trip there and stock up on meat, leather and animal feed. I actually get a lot more combat in this base than in Stobe's Garden since I allied with the Crab Raiders. You do have to pay the UC tax man every week, but if things are feeling too easy well, there's an easy way to start conflict with the UC.
This base location ended up super funI initially made it because I saw the space and it looked interesting, wasn't too far away from my main base, and I needed somewhere isolated for a training dojo/prison I could use on my highest level characters. It gets tons of crab, reaver and skeleton bandit patrols right outside the entrance corridor, so there's a constant supply of fights. There's also a constant supply of escaped/escaping reaver slaves as potential recruits. Skeleton Bandits seem to never join you, they simply attack, but you get freshly caught crab raiders and scavengers that may join when you free them. It has iron and copper right outside the entrance and while it only has 40% water inside it's not like it's a base meant to support a large population or farming operation.
>Went all the way to sonorous dark before realizing I traveled without foodGood thing I brought a shek, they started starving early so the rest of us were healthy enough to grab them and run to greyshelf.

Speaking of feeding animals, my dogs can get their own food from backpacks and feeders, but I think my force recruited wolf can't. He keeps starving when I'm not looking. For now I gave him a backpack to fill with food, but I wonder if there's a setting in the FCS to make him eat things. It's such a pity that them eating corpses doesn't replenish their hunger.

I want to dye clothes, specifically cloaks. I'm set up in the Hub, Rot, and the Grey Desert Waystation. Due to how dyeing works, is it better to centralize at the production location or have "local colors" set up near where they're sourced since I'll have to fetch them again on an import? I have already had to import due to mysterious trader death.I'm asking if it's better to kidnap NPCs locally or traffick them to a central location for the purpose of changing the color of my clothes. Is it smarter to just run the cloaks to the color I want instead of moving a faction color bearer to the production site? My bugbear is the Deadlands, I know they're going to cry about the rain the whole time if I run through and my only solution is to give them shittty armor to counter that, but that creates a bottleneck where I'd have to run them one by one each import. If they're bugs it's no issue, but some factions never spawn as bugs (Bloodraiders for instance). Otherwise I have to go through Venge and they'll hate that too.I haven't checked to see if they still dye the armor if they're dead, that would save me a lot of trouble and food.Tl;dr: Kenshi's vainilla dyeing mechanic is psychotic, is it worth it to build the infrastructure to centralize the process or simply deliver what I want dyed? Do I have to feed them or does the faction tag still work if they're dead?
>>4011834If you have a main base just kidnap the color slave if you need him, and keep him in your base. But don't go out of your way to collect them unless you need em cause lol imports. Also never keep your prisoners in an unloaded prison, keep a warden inside at all times, or put them on the roof where they'll always be loaded in. Otherwise they like to disappear.
It works still works when they are dead(IIRC)
>>4011839>Also never keep your prisoners in an unloaded prison, keep a warden inside at all times, or put them on the roof where they'll always be loaded in. Otherwise they like to disappear. That's the kind of thing I need to know, thanks. Permanent Skeleton job since anyone else will scurry away to grab food. For the tower in the Grey Desert I could put them on the roof since that's more of a dropoff point than a true base. That's also easy access to Bloodraiders, Black Desert Ninja, and Grass Pirates.>>4011845Also good info. I assumed that they'd vanish if I didn't have a babysitter for them, which is a point for centralization since I'd only need the one warden.I'll tinker with the idea a bit, I think I can split the difference. I'm trying to accomplish this without my own settlement so I can apply it to later runs and not have my dyers sprung by any raids. Setup could be>Mud Town/RotProduces fabrics and rice bowls, ship both to The Hub. Could easily produce and detain here for swamp gang colors to save a trip, but there's no roofs to put them on so that needs a warden and he might go fight spiders. Might be impractical.>The Hub Produces and detains. If I nab some ninjas and sabres total inmates would be-Starvers: Green, easy get.-HN Outlaw: Brown. Kidnapping a townie did not dye last time, I think I need a patrol.-Slaver: Blue&Green. Last time I just nabbed whoever was at the end if a convoy.-Black Dragon: Grey. I think they chase if you approach their tower.-Swamp Ninja: Different Green.-Red Sabre: Red. Both gangs like to ambush me at the neck before the BZ anyway, may as well nab them there.HN has a lot of colors tied to them, but I'm not starting a conflict over it.>Waystation If I follow your roof tip I won't need a warden yes? -Bloodraiders: Deep Red-Ninjas: Deep BlackThese guys wander in.-Pirates: Tutti-frutti. Incidental spawn. So Hub for west factions, waystation for GD factions. Two wardens.
>>4011878>If I follow your roof tip I won't need a warden yes?You won't, but you'll still need a character in the area so it remains loaded.

We had our first skin raid. The base isn't really meant to be a real fortress since it only has a gate and 4 turrets, but my guys are all elite. Won't pretend I wasn't nervous though.
Seto got the most dramatic kill.
Griffin got a good one-liner at the end.
>>4011939I have continued my dyeing adventure.Lost two starvers in the Hub because somebody ran outside. He's been set to passive, hold, and sits on a pillow, hopefully on his hands. You were very serious and I did not properly heed your warning. Luckily it was just starvers who are easily replaced. I have yet to encounter another Slaver caravan to give them a taste of their own medicine, or a HN Outlaw patrol. I think the latter will aggro you for no reason sometimes. The black dragons did not fall for my goading, I'll have to actually enter the tower or find one at a bar. Haven't tried the false settlement trick yet.I did get chased by about 40 starvers in Skinner's, led them to a mine looking to abscond with one after it all went down. Ended up grabbing a Holy Servant instead who did a limited orange run. He'll lose it on a load so I took the opportunity.Swamp foray got skunked, only spiders and a squad of boners. Better luck next time. I'm sure they'll show up during a rice run instead of when I seek them out.Far to the east, my captured bloodraider either refused first aid or my warden refused to do it. The option wasn't there. His legs fell off and he died, I'll keep him up there like a scarecrow. No more raiders or ninjas have shown up, but it's only a matter of time. This will be a fun minigame every import, it's like having quests or fishing.
Is there a reason why UC guards will inexplicably attack hiver caravans within the city walls?
>>4012793I don't know about UC, but in Black scratch it often happens because the turrets are shooting at wild animals and accidentally hit the hivers, prompting a fight.

Any thoughts on a decent place to set up hemp farming in the northern zones? I'm just looking to get a small, but profitable outpost set up to start grinding my crafting skills while I deal with the cannibal menace before migrating somewhere south.
>>4013037Honestly anywhere's good, even in UC territory. The guards don't give a shit if you're openly farming Hemp, I had them ask for bribes exactly one time in dozens of visits. Just find a cool spot for a base and go from there. Stay away from the burning forest though, the shriekers spawn endlessly when you try to build there and they'll attack until your FPS dies.
>>4013039>even in UC territoryNo shit? I was worried about them and HN pushing my shit in over it.
>>4013040I had a hemp field right in front of my main gate and only once did a guard ask for a bribe over it. I wasn't making hash in that base but would've been easy indoors.

I'm abandoning my cactus farm in Shem because I'm facing an endless stream of dust bandits, literally wave after wave as soon as I'm finished with one gang another appears mere seconds after they're defeated. It's impossible to rest up and they killed my grass pirate slave who was 30+ in all combat skills.I'm not sure if I should go back to the UC and build my Heng house or hit up the lagoon to hire Chad and try rebuilding Mourn again
>>4013463Sounds like free training, never heard of endless streams of dust bandits. They're common in Shem for sure, but how many people did you have in your farm? Also is there a point to rebuilding morn? The town won't be owned by you so you'll be very limited with what you can do.
Need a goddamn spreadsheet to allocate jobs in my giant settlement. Now I need to assign the mining jobs for characters mining as far away from the settlement as possible (to run into enemies more).
>>4013480>how many people did you have in your farm?I had 10 guys, half of those trained up enough to tank most bandit fights. I skipped on headgear though, which probably cost me more than I realized. I also had to dispatch a BDN raid prior to the dust fags showing up>is there a point to rebuilding mournI tried it before and i noticed the beak thing attacks dwindled in the presence of rebuilt buildings and working power. The barman is the only resource pool so you'll have to make your own iron plates and building materials. Mining outside the city puts you at risk of pit gang raids (skin bandits) but the tech hunter merchant always resets his stock after a day so you could conceivably feed him all the weapons and armor you can craft without disrupting the economy.
>>4012722The saga continues. Black Dragon grey has been solved. If you tiptoe in their tower they'll chase you for a bit, but Dimak chases you until contact. She's easy to bully alone, and she has a nice sword. I ended up taking her home, taking her stuff, giving her crappy replacements for the walk of same home, and dumped her at the north gate. Ended up with +5 relations, she must like being hazed. Shek women amirite? Next time I'll just bring my laundry to the tower. Shinobi Black is a little harder. Finding them is easy and thunking one is harmless, but taking the clothes back is theft. So either wait until they pick a fight or play the knockout game with a wandering shinobi and cart it home. Don't jail it though because that pisses them off.Got skunked in the swamp again, Starvers and Dust Bandits showed but no Sabres or Shinobi.
Went to the ocean on the southeasternmost tip of the map.Surprised the water wasn't acid. Only one Meitou left to collect.
>decide now is the time to wipe the cannibals off the map in Darkfinger>prep some guys to hire mercs at World's End>send others to do the same in the closest UC cities>see some samurai beating up mercs>weird.jpg>hire some mercs in a bar>they immediately rush out to go get fucked up by the samuraiI guess the UC and Mercenary factions must have become hostile to each other at some point. Is there a way to fix this without importing? I don't want to import away my progress in capturing dudes, killing stuff, or erase my hard fought reputation with factions.
The Remove Intruders job is so completely broken man. They always end up permanently carrying some stupid corpse or just looping from picking up and throwing down.
Previously I'd abandoned a settlement (using F12 to remove the outpost marker). But it's a nice settlement and it didn't help get the UC raid directed to my actual populated settlement, so I went back to reclaim it. It was overrun with cultists from the nearby village, but they left when I placed my outpost marker. However before the cultists were even out of sight, about 40 grass bandits ran in and took over. Had to take them out one by one with my scout, and the base is covered in double barrel harpoon turrets.
They got my scout with a harpoon to the chest and to the stomach. He's tough so he survived, but they were still aiming the turrets at him so he couldn't get up. There I discovered a mechanic I'd never even seen except once by a random NPC, staying down. He was able to crawl to safety while undetected.
The base is now cleared, but the UC raid still doesn't proc, only loops every 7-9 hours. I think I'm gonna have to import the world to get it to cancel, so I can try to trigger it again.
The plateau base in Stobe's garden is too damn safe, reaver and skeleton bandit patrols almost never come close. I'm making my guys mine very distant mineral nodes to force encounters more, but the terrain is very jagged so sometimes the path back home exits the town radius and the AI breaks.

Bro discovered miscegenation isn´t bad
Is it still cheating to use kind of busted training items if I already defeated Cat-Lon?
>>4013643A discovery and a stroke of luck followed by a stroke of disappointment. The thieves picked a fight they couldn't win and I had to patch them up or no fence for me, and I decided it was a good time to grab one for a black dyer. They were at -60 to the chest so there was tine. As I stood there holding her I realized if I jailed her they'd get upset, and I didn't want to put her in a bed to quick heal because >They don't get out of beds you put them inSo she's imprisoned in the comfy chair and can leave the sleepover anytime she wants. She's occasionally onery about giving the clothes back but there's no faction hit for taking them. The bed was initially used for fight club prisoners but has fallen out of use.Meanwhile I finally nabbed a Red Sabre, when I was alone of course. They attempted the usual Red Sabre rodeo where their fast runner holds you up while the rest of the gang closes, but this time band of bones picked a fight with his buddies while I did the 1v1. Took him down and took him home only to discover that Red Sabres dye an off Red and capes in particular are more an orange. I'm keeping him anyway, maybe other armor slots are redder. Swamp Ninja are the next west target, Black Desert Ninjas for the east. That's the news from The Hub, where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are not implemented.
One more base just one more base and we're done I have a plan but I need just one more base. This one exists exclusively to attract raids in a high traffic area for scavengers, reavers and skeleton bandits. It doesn't need to produce anything since it's a stone's throw away form my main base, but I need to figure out what the garrison should do while they wait.

>>4015324Honestly prosthetics are a bit OP but if you just set limbs to break easily in the options then it'll happen naturally and it won't feel like an exploit. With the exception of skeleton characters because why wouldn't you swap out for better hardware?
Whatever happened to the mod that added oddworld sligs to the game? I know I'm not schizophrenic because there was a guy posting pics of them on /vg/ maybe a year or two back when it still had a general there, but it seems to be completely erased from the face of the internet?

Man it's really hard to passively train martial arts late game because it's very difficult to reduce the damage these monsters do. Everyone else I can just equip with a rusted sword and toss em in reaver country.
>>4015581Starvation and bad quality economy arms are the only way. In the future definitely try to get it done before strength training if you can because dex doesn't increase the damage despite martial arts leveling it.
>>4015590Speaking of strength training I got one character to L99 for the challenge and because I wanted someone to be able to wield the meitou Fragment Axe, but since I did it by making her punch 3 very strong thralls on skeleton repair beds, she also got her dex and toughness to 95-98 or so. Still took days man, real dick move of the devs to make the strongest and one of the coolest weapons in the game only usable with a strength level that's effectively impossible to reach without some pretty extreme exploits.
Has anyone here tried "Legendary of Kenshi"?
>>4009233If I pull of that mask will you die?
>>4010570I always have problems with base locations like that. Even if enemies can't do this, I always like to imagine the idea that attackers will roll rocks on your base from above.
>>4016465That's fair, but this base is more hidden than fortified really. Only has 1 turret and a lvl 3 gate. It doesn't have to be impervious to assault because it only houses the biggest fighting autists in my faction training in duels against overpowered combat drones.
>Did a world import resetting relations>Crab Raiders are hostile again>Stobe's garden base actually gets action nowI'm going to remove the mod that fixes the crab tournament, hopefully it loops and that way I never get the 200 reputation bomb until I'm ready.
Training up a new big boss after I wiped my PC and lost my last save. Went roaming around Stobe's Garden after I hit the mid 50's and found a tower full of 30 elder bloodspiders. It took me like 3 hours to clear all of them out one by one since my arm got borked and I had to go to the Fog Islands as a sidequest for funds so I could afford a new arm.By the time I killed them all, I go up, find a safe, realize my lockpicking is too shitty to open it, then spend another hour looking for tools to crack it since retarded UC merchants don't sell any. Once I finally open the fucking thing, the only things inside are CPU's (which I can't sell) and 4 ancient science books. I got scammed by fucking spiders.

>>4019943Not sure. My nodachi took me to level 50, and so I swapped to a heavy weapon in order to build more strength. Currently sitting at 65, and while gains are slow while I'm full HP, once I take a few hits and go down to 50~ I start making decent gains again, especially if I just sit there and block hits instead of attacking slowly. >>4019952Check picrel, that's the weapon I'm using. Same stats as vanilla. I haven't checked with any other weapons so keep that in mind.
Dust bandit missing his leg getting followed by a Hundred Guardian holding a dead fogman while he explains his sad tale. Weird ass encounter.
>>4019851It always came automatically from combat. If your strength is below the requirement for the weapon, it levels it up. What does this mod even do because that's exactly how the base game exp works and a plank against a crowd of enemies was always the best way to level strength.
>>4020136Makes it more convenient. A katana took me to level 50 before it started lagging behind, which is plenty enough to do all the essentials like carrying bums and loot. You don't gotta give everybody a bigass club and specifically train for it, you can just have any sword and it'll level up over time as you train other combat skills.
I wish units from the same faction would be more proactive about carrying away their wounded. Gets pretty annoying when there's half a dozen disabled crab raiders around the streets of my base crawling around, not dying but unable to walk

Why can't hiver soldiers wear armored faceplates? They clearly fit.
Is there a way to save the interior template of a house? Making new bases is pretty fun, but having to recreate the smithy/kitchen/etc sucks.
