How is the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake?
>>4009127>How is the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake?Aren't there hundreds of Let's Plays / streamers and even vtubers for these kinds of questions?Just watch a random video and see for yourself.Even if you end up watching a spoiler, you wouldn't know that you were spoiled yet and you might have already forgotten what's going to happen by the time that you realize you're in a familar part.
>>4009127I'm pretty anti-remake generally but I think it's good (and also that the SNES version was an improvement over the NES version)DQ3 lends itself to remakes actually being improvements since the gameplay matters so much more than the storyIt adds a new class and some nice QoLThe one thing I like more about the NES version is no personality mechanic. I think that shit's stupid and messes up the flow by making you have to reroll your party members at the start if you want optimal stats.
>>4010307Also best personality for hero is locked to female only
Shit like dungeon maps and full restore on level up is massively gay and makes the experience worse.
>>4009127as a dragon quest expert i can say it is both satisfying and unsatisfying.to nobodies surprise the newly added class has an extremely overpowered ability that kind of wrecks the games balance. other than that it's ok i guess. the early game "challenge"(forced backtrack for heal) got removed but the later game was beefed up a bit to compensate. there are pros and cons, a more regular difficulty curve and simplified death mechanic, but better balanced in most ways, if you ignore the new class, with some post game stuff added.definitely worth playing if you are a fan of the original or series>>4010319>bestpersonality is a lot less important in this remake(reachable stat caps), also you can get it on your male hero anyway later on
>>4009127I had a lot of fun with it, especially once you get the boat and everything kind of turns open world. The map is so big and the towns are so atmospherically distinct that after a while it really starts to feel like you're just trudging across entire continents. Then you get to some far-flung town and some dude at the pub tells a story that reveals your dad was here in the past, and suddenly the world feels connected again.Modern players shit on this game for its simple structure and sparse story, but those are both assets, imo. Creating your own party and getting immersed in the world (and turning the motherfucking objective markers OFF) really makes this feel like an adventure. Maybe not a story, but definitely an adventure. And that's what a JRPG should be.
