Out of curiosity, was there any RPG where your character starts as a local militia to explain why he's good with weapons?I'm trying to think of one, but any character I can think of is either some farmboy living in bumfuck nowhere or already an established soldier.

>>4010478The funny thing is that all of the implications that come with being any given class leaves massive gaping plotholes. You spend pretty much your entire life in Candlekeep, but this would make it nearly impossible to train as a paladin, certain cleric orders, bard, druid, or ranger. BG2 and BG1EE really missed an opportunity to have optional quests in the earlygame to let you turn an unkitted class into a kitted one, or even switch from something like fighter to paladin or rogue/mage to bard. Yes you start at Lv1 with no EXP, but even a Lv1 fighter is already a trained warrior who knows his way around weapons, armor, tactics, and would put the average street thug in an early grave no problem.It would also be quite AD&D2e rule-friendly too, many of the classes are actually grouped under other ones, like Paladin and Ranger being grouped under Fighter.
